Birthday dinner here! After lots of research on where I wanted to go for our trip to Leavenworth I selected this spot - ambiance, menu and reviews all indicated it would be great! Since we had to make the almost 6 hour trek home the next day, we went for an early dinner and were the first party in. Service was kind and quick! Everyone was super friendly. Only thing is with it being just freshly opened for the day, it felt a bit like we were intruding on the staffs prep time - no one made us feel that way there was just a lot of work and chatter going on. I assume with the name Mozart usually there's some form of music (I would assume classical) that maybe just hadn't been turned on yet. But no bother. Food was fantastic. The fondue is not to be missed - the sausage and broccolini were clear standouts with this dish. I got the hunters schnitzel which was great but my husband got the Käsespätzle which is one of the absolute best things I have eaten out in a really long time. We had Valentine's Day dinner reservations at Mozart's and arrived early, thinking that would help things run smoothly. Unfortunately, the restaurant was already running about 45 minutes behind and no one communicated this to the long line of guests standing on a steep staircase waiting to be seated. Given that the evening was reservation-only, it was surprising how unprepared they seemed for the exact number of people they knew were coming. The space itself is quaint and charming, and the food was reasonably tasty once it arrived. But the service left a lot to be desired. The hostess was uncommunicative and initially tried to seat us at a shared table in the middle of heavy foot traffic. When we asked about an empty private table that had been sitting open the entire time we were waiting, we were told it was for "VIP" guests. Our server seemed overwhelmed and not very attentive. She had to ask for and repeat our orders multiple times, still brought the wrong dish to one person, and served three meals while the fourth person in our party waited another 10-15 minutes for theirs. When we asked about the delay, it felt like we were inconveniencing them. Overall, it was disappointing. The restaurant has a lot of charm and potential, but the lack of communication, organization, and basic hospitality made for a frustrating experience--especially on a night that was clearly planned around reservations. read more

We were spending Thanksgiving in Leavenworth and thought booking 2 months in advance would be plenty of time for Thanksgiving dinner. Turns out, people book 6+ months out for Thanksgiving! The good news, we managed to snag one of the last reservations at Mozart's for 4:30 pm. Just happy we got a reservation ;) Mozart's is located above Andreas Keller, so be prepared to climb a set of steep stairs (not sure if they have an elevator?) Once inside, it felt like stepping into a quaint, cozy, and charming European restaurant--warm, intimate, and full of old-world character. Our server, Elizabeth, was exemplary. Even though the restaurant was packed, she was attentive, welcoming, and kept our courses moving at a perfect pace. The 3 of us started by sharing the large Caesar salad, followed by the fondue--an absolute must for cheese lovers! The fondue came with potatoes, bratwurst (yes, please!), bread croutons, apple slices, and grapes.....we scraped the pot clean. Since it was Thanksgiving, Mozart's offered a special stuffed turkey breast filled with wild rice and cranberries. Three generous slices made it easy for each of US to enjoy a slice. Mashed potatoes and vegetables were served on the side. Sharing these 3 dishes was more than satisfying without leaving us overly stuffed. The Mozart Torte is non-negotiable--do not skip it! We also sampled several of the signature cocktails, all of them delicious. It was a truly memorable meal. The hunter's schnitzel was soo delicious. The outside was super crispy and the pork wasn't dry. There was so much flavor, especially with the mushroom cream sauce they had on it. The cabbage is kind of sweet sour which was a nice balance to the savory umami of the mushroom sauce with the cutlet. I tried a bit of the beef goulash and it had good flavor as well but too salty to eat any more than a bite. I'd come back for the schnitzels though!! I'd say I liked it better than Andreas Keller which is a super popular schnitzel restaurant just downstairs from this restaurant. Plus, we didn't have to wait long! The ambiance of this restaurant was nice. There was live music! The place is quite small though so the seating is kind of crowded and a little odd. It was definitely my favorite meal there. We stumbled upon this gem for a late lunch on a Monday. Walk-ins are welcomed. S e r v i c e Staff was courteous and accommodating. We had a large group with a baby and they seated us comfortably in a private room. F o o d *Chicken Schnitzel Paprika ($26 for half order): tasty chicken breaded with a nice crust, and the sauce was flavorful. It paired well with the house made spaetzle (egg noodles) served on the bottom. The cabbage steak included was sweet with a good amount of acidity from the balsamic glaze. Definitely a shareable dish with the full order. *A la carte - Bratwurst ($8): the Andreas Keller mustard included was amazing and worked so well together. I have been back a few times since my last review and honed in on their Austrian Zwiebelrostbraten, a rare delicacy that I was first acquainted with near the Golden Dacherl in Vienna. This is basically a ribeye topped with roasted crispy onions, a brown sauce and various sides. I'm unaware of where else on the West Coast this would be served and the chef at Mozart executes this very well. In fact, they combine the crispy onions with some soft, sautéed onions which makes for a wonderful combination. I ordered this with an extra side of Spätzle, which I also highly recommend. I also had an appetizer salad that came with a super acidic vinaigrette that almost burned a hole into my esophagus; guessing this was a cheap store-bought product because I deem it nearly impossible to create this at home with any kind of decent ingredients. Let's keep it real with a one point deduction. Atmosphere is cozy with dim lighting; and on this very warm summer evening I also noticed the pleasant blow of cool air from an AV vent. read more

We didn't have a reservation but when we went in at 5:20p on one of the busiest Saturday of the year, we waited for about 30 mins before getting a seat. Hostess at the front was super friendly. Ambiance was cozy, they had live music playing that night. We were seated in a cramped cubby space with a big family but they ended up leaving shortly after we were seated. Their menu posted outside on the wall was nothing like what we got inside, we only got a few options to pick from.. we wanted to try their pork hock but I guess it's only available from the sister restaurant Andrea's Keller downstairs from Mozart. Hunter's Shnitzel: 9/10 the flavor of the mushroom cream sauce was good with the pork. Only thing was that it was pricey for what it is but I'm sure it's the tourist upmark lol Hungarian beef goulash: 7/10 also a hefty portion which is good for the price but WAY too salty. I couldn't even finish half of the beef because it started tasting like sea water :( took the rest to go and served it more bland foods to balance out the salt. read more

There were two Schnitzel steaks and only one was sauced. The un-sauced one was pretty dry, but the rest was very tasty. The cabbage was not very pickled and huge chunks. Absolute best dining decision on our day trip to Leavenworth! We are visiting family in Washington and decided to check out the known Hallmark like Christmas town called Leavenworth. I knew the weekend after Christmas would be busy with families visiting so I made a reservation for 4pm Friday, December 27th. Before arriving for our reservation at Mozarts, we walked around the village and visited another little spot for drinks where the bartender mentioned that mozarts was a great dining choice! We were very excited when she said this. When arriving for our reservation, we walked up a set of stairs to the top where we were greeted by the host. He checked us in and we waited about 5 min. for the table to be ready. It's a small restaurant that was fully booked (at 4pm), and I heard the host on the phone mention to someone that they are booked for the rest of the evening and won't be taking additional reservations or walk-ins, with that being said, if you are visiting during peak season make sure to go on their website and reserve your table well in advance. I had requested a window table on our reservation and they honored that request without me reiterating it to them. After being seated, we were greeted by our server who was WONDERFUL! I believe her name was Maria, but I may have gotten that wrong. She was super attentive, cheery, and knowledgeable of the menu. We ordered the hungarian goulash, schnitzel, and gnocchi (added shrimp). Everything came out within a reasonable time frame, and looked AMAZING! Back story, my dad is from Austria and passed 3 years ago, this was the first time in a long time I was able to eat hungarian style goulash and schnitzel with the same taste I was used to growing up. The emotional feeling I had, was overwhelming and I was so happy the whole table enjoyed it just as much as I did. Everything was PERFECTLY cooked, tasted great with perfect seasoning, and the portions were PERFECT! I wish I was able to eat here all the time, and sad I'd probably never be back. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Leavenworth. If you want great food, and are on the fence on which spot to visit... just take this review and use it to weight your decision towards Mozarts. Cozy Austrian restaurant conveniently located on the plaza. You will want to make reservations here, especially during the holidays as a chance to get very busy. Location is perfect, the food portions are filling, and a service is quirky, can be a little slow, but it's polite. Let's start off with the FONDUE $32 which is always fun for the entire table. And while I love escargot, their ESCARGOTS WITH WILD MUSHROOMS $30 it is more like a creamy mushroom soup poured over bread and it's a little much for me. Especially if you're also getting the fondue. For entrées, I highly recommend the MOZART'S PLATTER FOR TWO $89 although with all this food, you can easily share between four, especially if you're having an appetizer and maybe a salad. The platter comes with: roasted pork hock, Käsekrainer and Bratwurst, schnitzel, fingerling potatoes, roasted red cabbage steak. It's huge. Wanting a little less? You can also split my favorite, the HUNTER'S SCHNITZEL $35 covered in a creamy mushroom sauce and served with Spätzle and a cabbage steak. Wine selection is small, but offers good pairings for your food at a fair price. I like the Albariño $36 to start followed by the Côtes du Rhône. I found the service in both the main restaurant upstairs and they're more casual offering downstairs to be slow but friendly. But really, where do you have to go? Nice restaurant in a cool Bavarian town. Cozy, classy, and exactly what you want after wandering around Leavenworth pretending you're in Europe. We started with the escargots with wild mushrooms. Now, I'll be honest: escargot is not really my jam, but that sauce? Oh man. Herb butter, creamy, garlicky, mushroom-y perfection. Honestly, if they just served the sauce with bread, I'd be perfectly happy licking the plate clean while side-eyeing the snails. Next up was the hunter schnitzel (chicken). It was... good. Unfortunately I spaced on noticing this and ordered the mushroom gravy which was not vegetarian. I noticed in time and our waitress was very nice about it. I enjoyed a very good dinner here the other evening. Was in town and since it's a German themed area, wanted a good German meal. Made reservations and were seated right away. The room we sat in had seating for about 6 and another two gentlemen were seated in the room. They talked extremely loud and we could hear their entire conversation. I know not the restaurants fault but it was hard for my husband and I to talk. Our server was very efficient and told us the specials right away. We ordered when he came back with drinks. Food wise, it was very good. We didn't want leftovers so we shared the hunters schnitzel. The pork was cooked perfectly, spatzel was nice too, and I really enjoyed the red cabbage steak! Once I looked at the menu I was sold compared to other menus. For a few dollars more, let's have an "elevated" dining experience. First meal in Leavenworth and I wanted Schnitzel and red cabbage so bad. I could wait til dinner. We walked up and immediately felt the cool air conditioner. There are quite a few German restaurants in Leavenworth, but Mozart distinguishes itself as a slightly more upscale version of the usual Bavarian spots. The space isn't huge so it won't feel so crowded. The menu has the usual suspects but also an extensive steak menu with some interesting wine options, e.g. a German Pinot Noir, an moscato d'asti for a dessert wine. etc. We started off with a fondue app for the family which included a generous spread of bread, brats, and veggies. The Austrian Platter for two fed four and included roasted pork hock, Käsekrainer & bratwurst, pork schnitzel, fingerling potatoes, and roasted red cabbage steak. The platter was the greatest hits of the menu and we really enjoyed everything, especially the schnitzel. The Mozart torte was the perfect finish with sponge cake and marzipan layers. We made reservations online the morning of our visit for 7:30 pm. The person who greets everyone trekking up that staircase was very friendly, too friendly at times. I could tell that people sitting right in the entrance middle table were a bit annoyed. After several attempts of calling me by a different name, we got seated. Our server Amber was fabulous and made sure we were taken care of. We ordered the filet mignon and the gnocchi, both delicious. It was crowded and a bit loud for semi private anniversary conversation that we were there for, but the food was worth it. This place was a great find in the town of Leavenworth-- which can sometimes be on the harder side when you're in a touristy town. We started with the Crispy Brussels Sprouts with Bacon & Dates-- big fan of that. For Dinner we had the: Bratwurst, Roasted Pork Hock topped with thyme demi glaze, Fingerling Potatoes (GF, V), and the Seasonal Vegetable of the day (GF, V). The service was great. We came here for Father's Day with a party of 7, 5 adults and 2 kids. Portions are huge. We started with the fondue and it was delicious with a big variety of items to dip. It easily satisfied our group as an app. For drinks both my mom and I had the drink special, a Strawberry Aperol Spritzer.We both loved it. It was yummy and large enough to last me through the whole dinner. For dinner I had the special- Pork Medallions with mashed potatoes and broccolini. On top of the pork medallions was a blackberry sauce. I've never had anything like it before. It was unexpected and very good! Great place for a special occasion. Probably the nicest dining in Leavenworth Washington. The ambiance is German rustic and upscale for a quaint mountain tourist town. They have live entertainment in the evenings periodically. We started with the fondue, which was the only letdown of an otherwise outstanding meal. Fondue was more of a béchamel and less of a fondue of cheese. Bread wasn't a crusty loaf but sandwich bread cut thick. Shame. I was looking forward to it. The schnitzel didn't disappoint. It was perfect, as were the gravy and the spaetzle. My wife ordered the pork Hunter's Schnitzel $35.00 Breaded & pan fried pork sirloin, creamy mushroom sauce, spätzle noodles, red cabbage steak. With in 5 mins it arrived. Meaning that it was not fresh and that it was probably frozen and they placed it in the microwave, but it was not cooked to proper standards. They probably had it in a refrigerator and then they just popped it in the microwave to have it cooked. The salad was OK. You know would've been better with 1000 islands but that's my preference anyways I wouldn't eat here is not worth it. read more

Mozart's on Front Street in Leavanworth is a wonderful spot for snacks, cocktails, or dinner. We were very pleased by the quiet, relaxed ambiance. The service was excellent, friendly and helpful. What we wanted were finely crafted cocktails and a bite to snack with them...we were not disappointed! Mozart's has a very impressive spirits and cocktail menu. The bartenders are wonderful! Our drinks were well crafted, tasty and reasonably priced. We sampled several items from the menu and were impressed to say the least. The roasted tomato dip, with pesto and chevre on toasted sourdough points was amazing! The Mozart Marzipan Tort was just as good.
