Walked in with no idea of what I needed, walked out with all of it! Super friendly staff, great selection, just a little low on stock. Would recommend! read more

Well, had a night and day experience here with two different workers that would lead me to rate one five stars and one zero stars. There's a solid selection of material you'll need for most general home upkeep. Prices are really fair compared to Home Depot and Menards. I called ahead and spoke with the friendly worker, who even saved what I needed at the front for my first stop there because it was such a rush. It's an easy to access place and dogs are welcome! I left really pleased with this place and had it on my mind for a second project. The second time I visited... oof. When I asked about an issue and showed photos about potential materials to buy, I was told to have someone come out and pay for it because I didn't "look or sound excited about my project. He was very crass and told me I wouldn't understand what he was "so easily" speaking to me. So there's that. If I know what I'm needing and have no doubts, I'll definitely come back here. If I have doubts, I'll be hesitant to ask based on who's working that day. read more

This is a great local hardware store! Well stocked for its size, I found all of the hardware I needed to finish some projects. I was greeted warmly and asked if I needed help finding anything, and I was in and out with everything in minutes. The few pennies that you MIGHT save at the big boxes is not worth passing this place by. read more

I'm glad we still have a small hardware store in the area. This is in the same location as the Ace Hardware that was here once upon a time, so it's well-suited to the task. Much like my friend Denyce, I don't relish going to the hardware store. Particularly the big box ones because the people there seem to know nothing about what the products are or do, and then I get super annoyed. I stopped into Andersonville Hardware because the florescent tubes in my kitchen went out and the handyman was going to give me light (finally; I spent two weeks or more trying to cook dinner in near darkness since I only had one small light) but come to find out that the bulbs I had purchased were not the correct connection or something. Darnit!! So on my way to Crafty Beaver I passed by here (forgot it was here) and stopped to pick up the bulbs. They didn't actually have them here at Andersonville Hardware, but the man working told me precisely what type I needed so I could head down the street to get them. I am so thankful for his great customer service, because I'm not kidding when I say that cooking in a dim to dark kitchen was getting old. I will certainly patronize Andersonville Hardware because if I can trust them to help me even when I can't purchase something from them, I expect I can trust them anytime. read more

It may not be the biggest hardware store but these guys are always extremely friendly and ready to help. My go-to before I try anywhere else. read more

The place is like the perfect hardware store in television commercials, with friendly and smiling staff. Very helpful and knowledgable and some of the nicest folks in Andersonville. read more

Every person who works in this shop is knowledgeable and can point you in the right direction even if they don't have something (which has yet to happen for me). Perhaps the household projects I take on don't require anything special but I've found everything I've tried to find here. Prices are all over the board - they will have a premium product on the high end and their store brand will be the low end. Great value either way!! read more

Great local hardware store with helpful, knowledgeable staff. The store is small but well-stocked and they can help you solve problems, not just sell you stuff. read more

The best Hardware store around. A wonderful place to find anything on your list. Good service by caring people.

This guy helped me with a broken key and try his best with the parts that I had.. he didn't even charged me bc he wasn't sure if the key was going to work. The key works and I went back to pay for it but I really appreciate his help. read more

If you have ever had to duplicate keys you know it's a crapshoot to get working keys. This place is perfect every time and I don't need to file them down by myself. So helpful and knowledgeable, highly recommend. read more

I needed a wrench and they suggested I get a less expensive one that worked just as well. I appreciated it!

I love and appreciate this store. We are in the middle of the Covid-19 outbreak and my dear friend in Chicago is sick and needs a humidifier. Amazon is back-ordered for weeks. I found Andersonville Hardware on Yelp - thank you, Yelp! 1. I was able to reach a live human being who was very helpful. 2. I was able to pay for the item with my CC over the phone. 3. Ado, the person helping me, was warm and wonderful and effective. 4. They are holding the item until another friend can come pick it up and deliver it to our sick beloved friend. I am grateful for the local shops right now. Particularly this one. Thank you, Andersonville Hardware! You rock so very hard! read more

Not a fan of hardware stores and try to avoid them like the plague as there is no food or alcohol in them. But a situation arose that required me to actually venture into one. I was in dire need to have cabinet key made for one of my cabinets at work. I have been trying to get one made for 6 months with no luck, including the Maintenance Department at work, Lowe's, Menard, Ace Hardware, and several locksmiths/key makers. Decided to stop in here because it was on the way home and there was a parking spot that did not require me to pay. Also wanted to go into La Primera and get bubbles. Well Sweet Black Baby Jesus must have been looking out for me on this day as I was able to get four keys made and they all worked. It was touch and go, and the gentleman assisting me stated that the key I had did not look like a typical one he would normally see. But he took the time to find one that could be a match and made the keys for me. He even stated that if they did not work when I got to the office the next day, to bring them back and he would refund me my money. Fortunately all of the keys worked and the day was saved. And I found some stuff to clean my disposal with too, so it was a good day. Still not a fan of hardware stores, but this will be my go to one if I have to make that journey again. read more

Local spot for all your basics, been in business for a minute, and easier to make sense of sometimes when you're in a hurry than a larger place like Crafty Beaver. read more

Great little neighborhood hardware store. I found what I needed and was in and out in 10 minutes. Friendly service and well stocked. A definite plus for Andersonville! read more

11 years later and going strong. I needed a replacement part for an IKEA rolling cart -- because they always get lost, dontcha know -- and they had just what I needed. If they didn't, I felt confident they would have a substitute that would work just as well. I'm upping the rating to five stars because of the great customer service. read more

This is the most neighborly hardware store I've ever run into! Totally relaxed atmosphere and friendly service! They let me even borrow a bulb without paying, as a resident neighbor I returned it of course! read more

Literally the kindest of staff that I have experienced from a small business or any business in general ever. The young man shoveling snow and at the register offered me to stand inside away from the snow and I saw you guys had hand warmers and had to purchase a few. I will definitely come back for all my home needs just because of the service and hospitality I was offered. read more

Small place with a matching small selection. SELECTION: I came for a ratchet wrench to fit an extension I had, but they simply didn't have the tool. The employee did, however, make a suggestion as to where I would be able to find one, which was helpful. They seemed to have a better selection of paint, just not tools. read more

This hardware store is one of the 2 on Andersonville's Clark Street. It has everything from simple hooks for the wall, to a solid selection of power surge bars, to a wall of nails and , to all sorts of chains for bikes and other purposes. From outside it's hard to tell it has quite a few items available. Service was good and the gal there knew where everything is. There was this odd repetitive drum and bass electronica club music playing at the store. Not sure if that can be a theme song if I were to nail some pictures on the wall... read more

Went in for some nails walked out with a new copy of my keys, a broom, a flashlight and a keychain. The man that helped me was so nice and pleasant to talk to. He welcomed me to the neighborhood and told me about all the hidden gems Andersonville had to offer. read more

One of the few remaining REAL, knowledgeable, full service hardware stores around. This is a store that a chick like me can walk into, totally clueless about hardware, describe the problem, and get help fixing it. So refreshing amidst a sea of HomeDepot incompetence. read more

The perfect local hardware store. They have most of what I need and, if they don't, they always make a recommendation as to where I can get it. Most importantly, the staff are super kind and make even a novice handyman like myself feel competent enough to take on those little tasks. read more

Just moved into the neighborhood and this place is just a few blocks away. I've made 3 trips in the past 3 days to grab odds and ends for the apartment and they've had everything I've needed. He even went down to the basement and dredged up an old scrap piece of 2x4 to help me get my A/C installed when they were out of stock of everything else. Can't beat old-school neighborhood customer service like that. Made a loyal customer out of me! read more

This is my new favorite hardware store, they have everything you need and very knowledgeable and courteous staff. They have great hours, better than Clark & Devon & Marx too! Give them a try, if you have a fix it project and get a little stuck, they will be helpflull in guiding you. read more

These folks are always nice, helpful, and respectful. It sucks to have to say this but hardware stores have sometimes proven to be sexist hotspots - not this one. The inventory is smaller than some hardware stores, but honestly there's nothing that crafty beaver has over this place. Thank you guys! read more

It's a smaller store, so they don't always have exactly what I need, but they always have the best staff. I'm a little bit of a DIY-er, but I don't always have the best knowledge. These guys are ALWAYS willing to help me fill the gaps in my knowledge, even if it costs them a sale. The true community feel to this place is what keeps me coming back, even after moving farther away. read more

Went there today to buy a simple handle for a toilet, taking in the current one. He pointed me to the limited selection they had; when I showed him the one I had, he told me he didn't know. I try to support local business but with this type of ignorant and careless service, why bother. read more

Nothing but good things to say. Small store, but they've always been helpful in finding just what I need. Nothing like a good neighborhood hardware store to make you feel like you have everything on hand. The guys that work there are nice and eager to help, from cutting keys to answering my (albeit simple) hardware questions. Love having this store in the neighborhood. read more

I like supporting a local business and these folks are pretty good. The store is small with a limited selection, (well, limited compared to the internet and Home Depot), but I've gone in there with 2 minor emergencies and they've delivered both times. You can also get your propane tank exchanged there, they sharpen knives and make keys as well. read more

I don't really write many yelp reviews, but the service here is so outstanding that I just had to. I was having trouble opening the back faceplate on my New 3DS XL (read: modern day Nintendo gameboy). I couldn't get one of the screws to twist at all, and was worried that I might have a stripped screw. I brought the system in, and asked the guy working there his opinion on whether I just needed a different sized screwdriver, or if I had stripped the screw. The man used a few screwdrivers (even opening a fresh pack) to loosen the screw. When I went to pay for the screwdriver pack he had opened, he told me not to worry about it, that I didn't need to buy it. (Of course, I did buy it anyway.) It just really went above and beyond in terms of service for him to spend his time helping me, open a new pack of screwdrivers, and not even expect anything in return. Thumbs up for sure and I will be happy to patron this place in the future for any hardware needs. read more
