Turns out the last mechanic I went to didn't even install the transmission lines correctly. They were able give me a loaner car to go support a friend that day in Harrisonburg. They then didn't try to upsell me on a bunch of things and made it clear what should be immediate fixes vs what could be delayed or not done based on what I care about. Great service across the board. Will be going back for any other service needs.

I'm extremely disappointed with my recent experience here. I previously had my vehicle inspected at…read morethis shop on December 20, and it passed inspection despite the same minor damage to the rear light being present. This crack has actually been there since October 2022 and has passed Virginia safety inspections multiple times since by a myriad of safety officers at different shops. Now I'm suddenly being told that the vehicle will not pass because of this crack, and I was quoted - nearly $500 to replace it which is way more than twice what I have found this repair can cost elsewhere. When I questioned why something that has repeatedly passed inspection is suddenly being rejected, I was told they have a new safety inspector. I understand that inspectors must follow Virginia's requirements, but that explanation raises concerns about this shops consistency. Customers should be able to expect the same inspection standards regardless of which employee happens to perform the inspection. What was especially concerning to me was the apparent lack of a consistent standard operating procedure. If one inspector repeatedly approves an existing condition and another rejects it, there should at least be a clear and consistent explanation for the difference. I have no issue repairing something that legitimately does not meet Virginia's safety requirements. My issue is the combination of inconsistent inspection practices and then immediately being quoted nearly $500 for the repair. Given the history of this light passing inspection and the amount being charged to replace it, the entire experience unfortunately felt like a money grab to me. This experience has seriously damaged my confidence in this business. I would recommend that anyone receiving a rejection here ask to be shown the exact reason for the failure and get a second opinion and outside repair quote before authorizing any work.

This place is fantastic. They finished the repairs ahead of schedule, and their customer service…read morewas very good. But the main reason for my very positive review is AA's honesty. I needed a new transmission and I was told the cost would vary depending on whether the transfer case needed to be reprogrammed -- that would be an extra $500. When I picked the car up, they told me that fortunately reprogramming wasn't needed. They could have said the opposite -- I would have paid the extra $500 -- and there's no way I would have ever known the truth. I am just posting this review because to me honesty is basically everything in car repair places. And Arlington Autocare is honest.

I had to call back multiple times and the staff was giving me the run around - I've taken it places where people can get it done within an hour. They failed my inspection (which was fair) but when I took it back to get reinspected after addressing the fixes and within the allotted timeframe they said they didn't do the inspect and tried to charge me again when it should've been free. That was when I noticed they had the inspection done BY ANOTHER SHOP down the road. I know for a fact I brought it to Arlington Autocare since I have charges and receipts from them but somehow the inspection listed a different shop in Arlington. If I am paying for their services, I'd expect them to complete said service. If I wanted it done somewhere else I would've just taken it there. Taking my car to be inspected at a different location without my knowledge is unacceptable. Don't come here if you want to know where your car is or who is servicing your vehicle.

I took it in on Tuesday and they mentioned it might be Wednesday before I'd get it back, no issue for me. However, they called me by end of the day that my car was ready to go and the repair was just around $50. They're conveniently located to a bus stop that easily allows me to get to my office, which was extremely helpful. They have a small front office that has two seats if you wait - there is also a strip of stores/food/hair salon across the street from them and noticed they are putting in a Sprouts just down the hill from them that can easily be walked to. Definitely will be using them in the future!
