I love the out of the way location ! The restaurant itself "reeks" of quality and fine dining!! I enjoy going there!! My only complaint is about the aged beef... I prefer fresh cut steak... and want that option available to me... I don't know if it's an acquired taste or not but when I took a bite of my steak (aged beef) it tasted slightly rancid to me...& I could not finish it... nor did I complain about it...my bad... but I just don't like aged beef... give me fresh cut steak anytime... and I'll be back!!! read more

From the minute we arrived we fell in love with this cute restaurant/location. The staff were so welcoming...our hostess walked out and offered to take our fam picture before we even walked in. Made us feel so special. Food...drinks...dessert....outstanding. All of it. We started with a Reserve Lemon Drop (to die for!). Then we moved on to the Glassed Brussel Sprouts (I could've just done these and had been satisfied...outstanding once again). Then the wedge full salad came to the table and knocked our boots out of how yummy yum yum that was as well. We ended the night with the T-Bone plate, Prime Rib plate and the kids steak. Not impressed in the slightest. First off, the dining area was two steep levels up , which wasn't easy to deal with at our age, weather permitting you could sit outside on the patio. Food was ( in our eye's) extremely overpriced , and not worth the price. I have eaten here in the past and their food is great but a bit pricey. It is a 45 min. drive to get here from where I live. Today we went to have lunch and enjoy the view of the country life. I ordered the prime rib sandwich and was disappointed with how salty the meat was. The waiter asked if I wanted my food boxed since I had taken two bites and didn't finished. I told him it was too salty for my liking. The waiter came back and told me he mentioned to the kitchen of the saltiness of the meat. Andersons Reserve made no attempt to remedy the problem by offering something comparable to what I ordered. I paid my bill, left hungry and very disappointed. I will not be coming to this establishment again nor recommend it since they don't value their customer and lack customer service. read more

Ok.... Here we go. While there is some truth to the negative reviews, you're dining in Idaho. And not just Idaho, but Sweet, Idaho. 1) It's a drive to get there, with scenery as gorgeous as anything on the West Coast. 2) The food IS very good, though very expensive. 3) The owners make you feel like you're part of the family. 4) The cigar lounge and bar located in a "silo" is a great reason to show up for your reservation early, or a great finish to your night. read more

We sat on the patio and just thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet. Our server was wonderful. Knowledgeable, unobtrusive, efficient. Everything you could ask for. The food. The food was unreal. The Brussels sprouts were so delicious. Hot. Fresh. The sauce was so good I could have licked the plate. Crab cakes were delicious and full of crab and flavor. Also strangely, the lobster tail was amazing! The wedge salad was fresh and crisp and also tasty. The bacon was amazing! Great service, very attentive. The building itself is a cool refurbished barn. We didn't mind the drive from Boise. The not-so-good: Prix fixe menu of three courses for $40 per person.. two shrimp is not a shrimp cocktail, cup of bisque and then a nice size breakfast platter of your choosing. Not a good deal. Brunch should include some type of bread and also a dessert and drink. It might have been worth the price with these things added. It appears to me that this restaurant is wanting to be a high end place based on the high prices and menu offerings. However the tables are like something you would see in a fast food restaurant... high tables with unpadded chairs upstairs and low tables with unpadded chairs downstairs, with the exception of 2 tables with padded chairs by the fireplace. Why don't you want people to be comfortable? Low, more comfortable tables and table linens and some mood lighting would make for an atmosphere closer to your price point.....The lobster bisque was tasty, but the texture and color were all off. It was very very red and thick and gelatinous. It should be the consistency of a tomato cream soup. The short rib Benedict was very sweet! A Benedict is a savory dish. The breakfast potatoes were mushy. They should be crisp. Try oven cooking them? Conclusion: this is a great concept but the uncomfortable tables and sub par recipes on some items do not make it worth the price. On 1/18/20, KM and I visited Anderson Reserve for dinner. We started with an appetizer of Rocky Mountain Oysters with a Dill dipping sauce ($16). My maternal grandmother came from a ranching family, so this was not my first experience eating this dish. Although the presentation was beautiful, I found this version bland and dependent upon the dipping sauce for flavor. KM ordered USDA Dry Aged Prime Rib, slow roasted and served with Au Jus and Horseradish Crema ($50). I ordered the USDA Prime Grade Fillet, pan seared and topped with Candied Bacon Wrapped Jumbo Prawns and finished with Smoked Tomato Butter ($45). Both entrées came with Twice Baked Potatoes and Sautéed Seasonal Vegetables. In addition, we both ordered a Garden Salad ($7) with Blue Cheese Gorgonzola dressing. Our meals were beautifully plated and topped with micro-greens. Unfortunately, the emphasis on plating over function made it difficult for KM to cut her steak. She enjoyed her prime rib, but it was not the best she's ever had, though it is certainly was the most she's ever paid for one. KM's steak was not as tender as it should have been, given she paid a premium for dry-aged meat. I later learned Anderson Reserve dry ages their beef for 3 days, which is not dry aging. I enjoyed my steak. Neither of us cared for our twice baked potatoes, which were dry. We liked the sautéed seasonal vegetables, which were very flavorful. We wanted to order dessert but decided to skip it after learning it was not made in house, and our server was unable to tell us the source. Anderson Reserve does not meet ADA guidelines. The only way to access the second level is up a narrow set of stairs. If you have mobility issues, I recommend you reserve a table on the ground level. While we both had an enjoyable evening and enjoyed our meals, we felt they were overpriced. read more

The drive is amazing. Once you arrive to the ranch you see the beautiful white building. I am not a fan of the high table seating. It doesn't make for a comfortable arrangement for a nice meal for over 1+ hour for the cost you're paying. If you bring 6+ people the table setting is very uncomfortable. For dinner I had the steak filet salad and my husband had the cowboy. His came with seasonal vegetables and garlic mash and my husband also got, a side salad. The rolls and honey butter are delicious! The steak was a tad salty, the cocktails are amazing! The bourbon list is nothing short of stunning. We received a gift certificate for birthdays. The drive out there from the Treasure Valley was stunning. Highly recommend planning the trip so at least the drive to is before sunset. We arrived a little early and sat at the bar. The cocktails are fabulous and are served in high end Riedel stemware. Griffin the bar tender was very friendly and attentive and offered entrée recommendations. My one slightly nit picky feedback for the drinks was the lime in my drink was from a bottle and not squeezed from a lime. Indoor seating is all on the second floor in a loft. All these tables are high tops with glass tables. This is all form and no function. There's no foot rests or purse hooks and I'm not certain the space is accessible for anyone who cannot use stairs. We made a note for returning to request outside seating because we were overall uncomfortable during our meal. We both had a wedge salad which was delicious. My partner had the Cowboy cut ribeye. I had the prime rib and added a lobster tail. So they don't give you actual steak knives. Our guess because they pride themselves on having steak that cuts like butter. This was not the case for our steaks. My prime rib had nice flavor but overdone and slightly tough. The Ribeye was undercooked and tough- noting here this is a $98 steak. I noted that the lobster tail ($28) wasn't served with clarified butter. Looking at the yelp photos it looks like we missed being offered fresh rolls and butter. For dessert we had some kind of chocolate thing. I wanted a more traditional chocolate cake so it was just meh for me. We will return and make sure to have different seating and also try the short rib entree that the bar tender recommended.
