Dr. Kaur diagnosed both children with myopia and we also learnt their vision had declined. She did not offer or discuss any treatment at that visit. Instead, we were told to return for a separate "myopia consultation." When I called the following week to schedule it, I learned the consultation costs $225 and is not covered by insurance. Before booking, I read up on myopia management and spoke with several other parents whose children have the same diagnosis. In each case, their optometrist discussed and prescribed treatment at the exam itself -- no separate paid consultation. I went back to the office and asked Dr. Kaur to add Stellest lenses (a lens type designed to slow myopia progression) to my older son's prescription. He needs corrective glasses regardless, so this was a matter of specifying the lens type on a prescription he was already getting. She declined to do so without the paid consultation. As I asked more questions, I learned the consultation is the entry point to a myopia management program costing roughly $1,200-$2,400 per year, largely out of pocket, and not including the lenses themselves. I explained that we weren't in a position to commit to that program and only wanted the prescription. She still refused. We ended up paying for a second exam at another practice. That optometrist wrote the Stellest prescription the same day and said she does this routinely after an exam. Her recommendation was simply to bring the kids in every six months instead of annually to monitor whether the lenses are working. A comprehensive myopia management program is a legitimate service, and some families will want it. But it shouldn't be the only path. Families who can't afford it, or don't need that level of close monitoring yet, should still be able to get a treatment option after a diagnosis. Two stars rather than one because the exam itself was thorough -- but we left with a diagnosis and no care, and had to pay a second office to get what could have been written the first day at this office.

While the doctor is great, the office staff's lack of accountability and poor customer service left a bad impression.

(Especially since I don't have a vision plan through my employer.) My sole (penny ante) issue was that the entire office was drab, stuck in the past with some sad ratty old carpeting. But on our most recent visit? The whole place has been given a 'home makeover' and it's new, clean, shiny, warm and inviting. (As much as a doctor's office can be, of course.) Metered street parking. My oldest of special needs has been coming here for the past few years. This team was amazing to have created right on the spot custom glasses to fit my child's face. This is something that no other location would have done for me without charging me a significant fee. Their prices are beyond reasonable when paying out of pocket. They work with you and your budgeting and that goes to show how compassionate they are about their jobs! This entire staff is always well knowledgeable, friendly and caring.

Such great manners and she makes you feel at home. They also have a parking lot which is incredibly helpful since the parking situation in Newark is dreadful. It's easy to maneuver in and out of too. There's tons of frames to choose from, they are a bit pricey but they're name brand as well. I usually opt to get glasses elsewhere but if you're in search of a fantastic eye doctor I highly recommend this spot.
