I've eaten Turkish from many restaurants in NYC. This is pretty authentic. I like that they have some Turkish products for sale as well since it saves you the time of going anywhere else to pick up their specialty products. Nothing fancy inside but the food tasted good and pretty affordable for anything else. I've ordered a dozen times from Anatolia and they always surprise me with their options and quality of the food. Absolute terrible service tonight! Will never come to this place again! We came here once before which was a decent service. Today, food was cold, delayed, waitress and waiters all of the place! The place was not packed at all. Victoria had served us although apologized later left us with the bill. Took her ages to come back and pick up the check. By the time she came and returned they lost our credit card and then came and insisted that we had been given the card back. We insisted the card was left and after a frantic search amongst themselves the staff 10 mins later they returned with our credit card. Absolutely ruined our night! After our favorite Turkish restaurant closed, we didn't know where else to find another gem. After seeing this grocery/restaurant open, I was delighted to find my favorite Turkish products here! I am Hispanic and must say this place has blown me away. They have "hospitality" down packed. They are always welcoming and attentive. The absolute worst place to book a private party! We only booked a party because we last year had a great experience with Max and Elena for the baby shower. Everything was on point! This time around Çan aka John had the audacity to book our baby's 1st birthday for 60 people as well as book another party of 15 at the same time! We had agreed on bringing a DJ, Clowns, using the dance floor. Setting up a back drop, dessert table etc. John never had the tables set up when we got there, no tablecloths. We had to buy our own at party city. John didn't want to go to his stock room to collect 3 more chairs that we needed so we had to set up our own tables with chairs and booths attached!! The service was horrible, I never experienced worse table service in my life! Only one blond waitress was actually trying to do the best she can for 60 people. John and his assistant the brunette just stood there like statues. We had to get our own drinks and clear our own tables Not accommodating at all. I actually liked this place alot before this experience. I never had to deal with such an unprofessional owner in my life. We basically had to set up the entire room and tables and clean up. Never even approaching to take over and do what they're supposed to do or should have been done before we got there. The party of 15 came and started arguing with us as if we booked both parties in one room! This is completely John's fault. We had to clear the plates off the tables to make room for the cake and desserts. This should be done by the service crew. We didn't get to enjoy our own party because we had to make sure our guests were served Next time I know not to ever book a party here again. In the nabe and stopped in for a quick lunch and since I've never eaten here before decided on ordering something safe. Decided on a falafel sandwich. I thought it would've been on a standard pita bread but to my surprise it was on Turkish bread. When I opened the sandwich it was lacking tomatoes and red onions. All it had were falafel balls and lettuce. Thank goodness I asked for tzatziki sauce otherwise it would've been a real dry sandwich. The falafel balls were lacking in seasoning and kinda blah. If I could I would give this place 0 stars. I placed and order through grub hub with high hopes due to the reviews(which I have to belive are not honest).I waited roughly 2 hours for my food to arrive. The driver ignored my request for a no contact delivery by making me go outside and walk around the block to go to him[it is currently 12degrees outside] after receiving the food by him rolling down the window of his car and asking me to just grab the bag.After bringing it inside I noticed one of my items is missing on further inspection the food was very cold, most of it was under cook and overly salty. I was extremely disappointed in the service. The management of this place is very poor. We had ordered two appetizers, and after 20 minutes received only one, we were told the other one would be coming out shortly but we started receiving our entrees without our second appetizer. They also messed up our entrees, when they could've avoid it all by just letting us know they didn't have certain items. I mean they ran out of rice! We only found that out when they came to the table with our food. I would rate this resultant no stars if I could. One star is too generous. I went to this restaurant on a Friday night with 4 other girls. Our server took our order after waiting for over 30 minutes. After that we sat for over an hour without being checked on once. Mind you we had already called and made a reservation. The servers were actively ignoring us while giving so much attention to the table next to ours going back and forth to them. On top of the terrible service the entire restaurant was filled with smoke and everyone was coughing and wiping their eyes. After asking if there is something wrong they told us that some type of motor was broken. Ok great it's broken, so let's all just sit here and breath in the smoke with all of the doors closed smh. And then after waiting an hour we only asked for water because none was brought to us our server was rude and acted like it was such a big task. Once we got the bill I realized why the service was so bad....their 20% tip is included in the bill so they don't care how they treat customers. I would never return to somewhere like this. My husband and I had dinner here last night and it was absolutely delicious. The food is so fresh and the bread just came out of the oven and it was a taste of heaven. We started with the crisp and delicious Cigar Borek. My daughter had the Lamb Mixed Grill. All the lamb offerings were so juicy and perfectly cooked! We had the Chicken Shish. Last week I and my friend went to this restaurant and loved their service and the food. So, we took 6 more of our friends to have dinner there tonight.However, it wasn't like the last time. One of our appetizer never made it to the table. One of my friend's food came with brown rice instead of white rice . So the waitress who was so nice and sweet goes to the kitchen to switch the rice but comes out and tells us no more white rice ( according to the chef) so my other friend cancels his food. When we ask for the receipts they could not even get the receipt printed out .However, when we were leaving the table the owner was making gestures across the table. No professionalism from him. He was acting like a jerk. We are never going back to that place. We do not recommend any one to go there. And definitely , I am calling the "Better Business Bureau"for a complain. She sang a few classic Americano, then switch to Israeli or Turkish or something while my lamb combo melted in my mouth, I literally didn't had to chew too many times...by the time we finished our meal singer took a break, only for a belly dancer to come out, whaaaat...She danced ,beautifully;next level exotic!!! for a good half an hour to forty five minutes, although we finished eating a while ago we still lingered and no one bothered us to leave instead they gave us complimentary all you can drink Turkish tea,all the entertainment for the price of a hummus ,a salad and two entrees...I also recognized one of the waiters as "Jackal" the F&B manager of arguably the most iconic summer rooftop in NYC ever,and he was waiting tables here,maybe it's a winter thing I don't know but it's still shocking ... I had catering for my family gathering from this place. The food came over very fresh, hot, delicious, and onTime. I ordered Lamb Mix and Chicken Mix as an entree. They were great both, hard to say which was better. Very good variety of different prepared grilled meat and chicken. White and brown rice were delicious, but I like white rice better. Liver cubes were ok. Salad and eggplant with sun-dried tomatoes were very good and fresh. Also manager/ owner Max sent us several delicious desserts for free. Thank you very much to Max and the chef. Last night was my second visit there (with my two young friends) and the food was tasty, well-seasoned, the ingredients fresh and lively. Plates full of color, texture -- savory delicious food. We had pork, lamb, chicken, the Turkish meat-covered flatbread, yogurt sauce, that intoxicating spicy relish of chopped tomatoes and hot peppers . . . nothing dull, nothing routine. AND the best part is that the owner-chef is completely eager to please and most happy when his customers are happy also. I wish it were closer to the North Shore where I live, but soon my car -- not even a self-driving one -- will know the way. AND half of the place is given over to Turkish groceries, including a freezer section. DO NOT EAT HERE! I've had an absolutely hideous experience in this restaurant. For starters, the staff was rude and the manager was ignorant and inconsiderate. Then comes the food. My rice was scraped from the bottom of the pot. It was almost impossible to chew. The waitress tells me that the rice was nearly finished so i would get from the burnt bottom of the pot.It was 5:00 PM and the rice was finished !?!?!?It is unbelievable how this restaurant gets good reviews.
