    I just had my first appointment with Steph and I am blown away by her skills and she's fast and super friendly! My hair was a hot mess so fried FYI I've been bleaching it all by myself since Covid that's my excuse! Steph covered my grays and gave me a fresh new cut and I love love love it! I'm so excited for our next session thanks so much Steph!

    I have been going to Steph for around 13+ years (what does that say about her great work?!) and I have been so happy-exited really-with my cuts and colors!! Steph has done my hair in EVERY color and loves to try new things with my hair. She is fun, professional, knowledgeable, great conversationalist, up on trends and knows vintage hairstyles as well. An Epic Salon is clean, stylish(mid-century modern), easy to find(across the street from the Nugget in Sparks) and the parking is free and nearby-parking lot temporarily closed to construction but you can park in front of the salon with no metered parking. I'm happily greeted by the stylists every time I go in and it's always a pleasure to see the co-owner Katie! I cannot recommend the salon enough!

    My girl kept asking to go shorter what and shorter....it was a bold and fantastic choice.

    I've been going to Katie for a couple years. I was referred by someone who had straightened my hair previously and was out of the hair business. I trusted this referral and Katie did not disappoint. I don't have the curly hair, rather wavy and frizzy but it takes a punch to get it straight, she listened to what I wanted and took account of my hair needing a serious treatment. The results were fabulous. If you are looking for straightening I highly recommend Katie as she enjoys doing it and does a lot of them do she knows her stuff. Once I had my straightening I trusted her to cut my hair and I'm really picky about who cuts my hair because it doesn't lay right if it's not cut with expertise. I haven't gone to anyone else since I started coming to An Epic Salon. Then I started having Katie color my hair which wa big deal for me as I've only colored it a handful of times previously. So now Katie is my go-to straightening, cut and colorist. She's also good with kids and has cut (and colored) my son and daughter's hair. In fact she's doing cuts for both of them during my next color appt.

    I will preface this by saying I was thankful for Katie taking me in, as my stylist of many years that I followed from salon to salon, left without notice and Katie honored my purchased gift card. I reached out two weeks back to set up a hair appointment. I was super excited to have my hair done a few days before due to an upcoming trip. I purchased a gift card in November and since I'm seeing a new stylist asked about fashion colors. During February was told for one picture this service would be $80 on top of the gift certificate purchase. Okay got it. I ended up sticking with non-fashion color. Before leaving the salon, I had a multi-color in mind, showed the picture was told, "this will be $80." Okay understood. I asked to set up for the weekend of May 10th. I was told, "I have May 12th at 10:00 a.m. open." "Sounds good. I will follow up with some color ideas" ( in terms of cost outside of the previously purchased gift card). Tuesday 5/7/19- I sent a photo of the same picture I asked about in February, "this is fashion color this is $120." Okay since I didn't have anything in writing, it is what it is. I then followed up with another photo (with which I had a previous text). "That's fashion color" was the response. Okay so I just asked for the same color job for February. "I can do that." "Okay, great thanks." I was under the impression that we were good to go. So I show up rearranging my mother's day plans and arrive at the salon. It looks closed to me. So I called the shop and it went to Katie's cell voice message. I left a message stating I was at the shop. I followed up with a text message. The response was," we never confirmed an appointment. Plus it's Mother's Day and I'm with my husband and children." Just a flat statement not let's look at another day/time. My response was, "I went along with the day and time that worked for you. I followed up with Color choices. Thanks." If it was a misunderstanding okay, let's reschedule. Mistakes happen, instead the ball was dropped on me, with an I don't care attitude "Well it wasn't confirmed have a fabulous day! So I understand miscommunications happen, we're all busy. But instead of just "oh well, it's not confirmed." Let's look at another day to fix the misunderstanding. I know if something like that happened with someone I was working with and I just treated them in this manner without rectifying the situation I would be out of a job. Luckily I found an amazing new stylist that is treating me as a customer should. This wasn't an "Epic" experience for me getting ripped off of a gift card purchase and treated like it was all one me. I let everyone I know about this incident. Beware!

    Stephanie is literally in my contacts as Goddess of hair . She has a great eye for what color or cut looks great on you!! Not just a cut and color but a complete amazing makeover with each visit . Friendly environment with good energy and good music and conversation. Always! I will follow her business and keep coming back , even if it is to the moon !! Reasonable prices and can literally give the look you pinned on pin interest but make it customized for you. We all know we like a look and try it only to look ... well not as great as it was in our heads lol . So I say you want the complete beauty experience this is the place 100!!

    Recently relocated to Reno and after several calls to other salons I was happy with the pleasantly of the person who I spoke to about men's hair cut. Pleasant atmosphere, and attention to detail. The staff has an AMAZING attitude and yea the hair cut was good too. Prove me wrong, go see for yourself, and leave with a smile.

    I saw Max today and he is just wonderful! Lights up the room! And what a cute salon! I was able to walk in and get exactly what I asked for! I was cutting off quite a bit of hair. Showed a few pictures and Max knew exactly what I wanted!

Towards the end of her trial, she asked the front desk person what happens at the end of 3 months. The person told her that the membership would end. On my wife's last visit, she asked the front desk person again what would happen, and they told her that the membership would expire and end. Well...that was not true. I was looking over our finances, and I noticed a charge from Sunsation, and they have now been billing us for 5 months past our 3-month trial. My wife called and asked if they could cancel the membership and the person said she could not. You have to come in person and cancel the membership (so customer-friendly, I know). My wife asked if she could email and cancel that way, and the person said she doesn't think the business has an email (later, we found out they do have an email). My wife asked if she could email and cancel that way, and the person said she doesn't think the business has an email (later, we found out they do have an email). So she wrote a letter and went in to cancel, but the manager was not in, so she was told she would have to come back. I finally called today to help my frustrated wife and thankfully they agreed to cancel our membserhip without us having to come in. At this point, they have stolen over $1000 from us, and all they could tell me is that I should pay attention more to bills and make sure I read the contract I sign. Here's a tip. Just be honest with people and build a business that takes care of people and doesn't play games like this. They told my wife twice that the membership would expire, and when she signed the contract, they should have told her that the 3-month contract auto-renews unless you come in and cancel. Terrible business. They don't care about people. Just want the money out of your pocket and it's your problem if you are too trusting. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS.

All my previous sentiments still stand about how wonderful she is in waxing the brows: she does it for their shape and not the trends. Additionally I wanted to comment on what a great business woman she is. It's been great to see her through so many changes and the growth of her business. She started off, when I started seeing her in 2014, just her and one or two other aestheticians, and a couple nail ladies. Now, she's got a good handful of employees also doing waxing and possibly other services. I only see her for my eyebrow waxes. Also in 2014 she started in a like four room office upstairs in a converted house to business building in midtown. Now she's got a larger converted house to business building, where she is currently. She truly cares for her clients and employees and wants to give everyone the best experience possible. Will continue to see her for waxing my eyebrows, and will continue to 10/10 recommend this business as a whole.
