The Morrison House - The 11-plus mile Minuteman Bikeway connects Davis Square to Arlington, Lexington, and Bedford

The Morrison House

I stayed for three nights. It was my first time staying by myself while traveling in the US. I had…read morea wonderful time - I thought that the lock system that does not require keys was very clever (I don't know if I can mention it in detail, so I will keep my description this way) - it allows the guests to enter whenever they want. I flew in late to Boston so I entered the house really late, but there was no problem! At the Morrison House, I stayed at the Little Room - it was very cozy and cute, perfect size for a young girl like myself. The bed was nice and I slept very well. It was also nice to have a heating system that I can adjust perfectly. I shared a bathroom with the guests in the Davis Room, which was no problem because I shower at night and no one else did. The bathroom was kept very clean and, also very cute. I also liked how the guests have chance to meet each other when they all come down for breakfast between 8-9 am. Since I mostly get to talk with people of my age back in school, it was a refreshing feeling to get to know older couples, etc. The Morrison House is in a perfect little college town too. I got to enjoy some great foods, including the hamburger shop that was introduced in Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, one of my favorite TV show! :D The fee was also reasonable, so I would like to give Morrison House a five-star! I would definitely come back if there is an occasion.

Bathrooms are spacious and clean, and sound doesn't carry between the rooms. There's a lovely back yard, and ample parking (v. important in Boston). Steps from the subway. Two thumbs up. Oh, I forgot to mention: their cat, Sebastian, is very friendly and wants you to enjoy your stay. If you're feeling down, he may follow you up to your room so you can scratch him behind the ears and rub his tummy.

I was very unsure which area to stay in, but I'm so happy I chose CCB because the location is absolutely perfect. Back Bay is very nice and safe. You even have a wonderful park just outside the doorstep to walk around, and the lovely Boston Commons only two blocks away. Check-in/out was one of the most seamless experiences I've had with hotels/airbnbs. I didn't have to check in with anyone, and I received the door code a few days before. They have a lovely dining room for guests with homemade cookies, fruit, coffee and tea. Unfortunately I didn't take advantage of the breakfast, but I'm sure it's great too. CCB is really the perfect mix of a hotel and bed/breakfast. I was unsure about doing the solo room with a shared bathroom, but other than having to wait for the other guest to finish his shower so I could take an urgent bio break, it was no issue at all and I would hands down do it again. I'm pretty sure the other floors have a bathroom if you absolutely need it though. For the location, price, comfort, and amenities, College Club of Boston is a no brainer. I got the please to quickly meet the GM on my way out, and she is super sweet. I even left my airpods in the room, and without hesitation they are shipping them back to me. 5 starts forsure.

The venue itself was breathtakingly beautiful, clean, and presentable. We requested a charcuterie board, champagne, and fruit platter, and it was stunningly displayed and high quality. There was a great mini-bar. Anna the manager was very responsive and accommodating. I am extremely pleased with our experience and would 100% recommend this venue!

The house itself is a 300-year-old farmhouse that has been owned by only 5 families throughout its history. Most of the original structure remains today, giving the place an authentic rustic feel -- not kitchy, like so many other bed & breakfasts. The hostess is cheerful and charming, and more than happy to give you a tour of the grounds (including a tunnel in the basement that was part of the underground railroad!). For us, she made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies fresh upon arrival. We stayed in the Carriage House, which really is a bargain for the space. The two-story suite includes a fireplace, kitchenette, television, desk, couch, armchair, and small table with two chairs. This is in addition to an outdoor porch attached to the unit, and the beautiful upstairs bedroom (with air conditioning). Breakfast was delectable, made exactly to our preferences, and served on a screened-in porch overlooking the gardens. We couldn't have asked for a better experience! I'd definitely stay here again, and would absolutely recommend this to any couple looking for a quick getaway from Boston.

She really took the time to get in touch with us before our visit to be sure everything was going to be to our liking. She will make your visit what you wish... if you want the historic tour, you'll get it! If you want privacy and peace and quiet, she'll just be there when you need her. The house has wonderful character and charm and so much history. The fire was roaring when we arrived and the entire visit felt like a special getaway for us from work and the kids, even if it was only a few towns away. I would go just for breakfast if I could, homemade and delicious.

Also, there is a restaurant at the corner that does dine in and take out. It's a Gastro Pub. There are also plenty of take out places to order from in the area. The first night, we were exhausted, and ordered Grub Hub for some Chinese. The cost of the delivery fees and service charges was ridiculous. The next day, I realized that most of the places that are around that area deliver themselves and for only a few dollars. Definitely call the restaurant directly and see if they deliver before you go the Grub Hub or other food delivery service. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant, except for breakfast. So unless you have a car or plan on eating out, call and see who delivers. We did not have a car during our stay, but had a family member pick us up and drop us off each day. The room itself was a nice size for a city setting. It had a living/dining area, a small kitchen and the bedroom and bathroom. It was quite comfortable for our stay. One of our family members got sick during our visit and was able to relax in the room and have take out no problem. We were also able to put out our Do Not Disturb for no maid service, since we had a sick family member, and they didn't hassle us about it at all. The front desk staff was super friendly and helpful. They have a FREE breakfast buffet in the morning with 2 hot items - i.e. scrambled eggs and sausage. They change the items each day. There is also fresh coffee, juice, cereals, hot oatmeal, waffles (you make them), yogurt, fruit, plenty of toast and baked good. The seating area for breakfast is really nice - plenty of tables (indoor and outside) and there is a two sided fireplace in the eating area, which was nice. They also have TV playing morning news program (Good Morning America or something along those lines). After breakfast, they setup the coffee and hot water near the front desk, so coffee, tea and hot chocolate is available all day. There is a fitness center on the first floor also. A few minor drawbacks: they pantry/snacks for purchase area was lacking, based on other Homewood's I have stayed at before. Very little real selection and no alcohol. Also, they didn't really stock the room well with extra towels, pillows or toilet paper (we had 3 of us staying). I had to go down and ask for some of that, but they were more than happy to get me more. The hotel was reasonably priced for the area. I'd stay there again if I had to visit the area once more.
