An amazing bed and breakfast run by an amazing lady, this was my first 'home' in Boston when I came…read moreover for a few nights for my interview. I'd recommend it to anyone who needs somewhere to stay in Boston whilst on business or visiting a friend. Highly praised in Time Out's guide to Boston, this Fenway brownstone house did not disappoint at all. The interior is lovingly kept in original 19 century decor and Florence has an amazing collection of dolls as well as a whole room for her shoes and hats. At 80 dollars a night it was a bargain for a truly special room that could well have been in a museum. The bathroom was hip with a great toilet, and it was conveniently close to several T stops. The real gem though was Ms Frances, who was truly charming and had quite amazing stories. She has flags for every guest to show their nationality, and of the 50 or so flags she owns she's been to pretty much every country - including Iran. An introduction to her hat collection is quite a treat too. What a life she has led! She even had a free guest pass for me for the Museum of Fine Arts.

Mrs Frances is a perfect host and she can be at the same time discrete and full of attentions for her guests. There is a small but lovely Coffe House (Tatte) with free WiFi very close to it. It did not feel clean and I doubt the bedding was fresh. Plus, we had to wait over 20 minutes to check in because the front desk person was on break, despite the fact that they called and asked when we would be arriving. We showed up at the estimated time and no one was there. I was not pleased that the keys were required to be store in an unlocked cabinet by the desk. Anyone could've taken the keys to my car. Our room was on the 4th floor--quite a hike up very narrow stairs. Breakfast was disappointing to say the least--not much available and kind of a dirty presentation. Our tv had 10 working channels!

Multiple issues at this property during our stay 9/14-9/16/2024…read more Parking is $33 a night. there is a six spot lot in the alley behind the property. Our first night there were no issues parking. The 2nd day (9/15) we left the property early in the day and went to a concert that evening at Fenway. I received a call during the day asking when we would be returning. I couldn't give an answer because I didn't know. Then during the concert I received a text advising me to park a block away from the property due to ongoing construction. this should not have had anything to do with the spots behind the property. The signs for no parking on the street in front of the building stated 9/17 and 9/18, had nothing to do with the dates that we were there. i requested a refund for having to park on the street a block away from the building. They will not give a refund. I responded to the text asking for a refund, they did not answer. I sent an email, received a call and explained again what happened. She had to call me back. The call back was that there would be no refund and stated that the agreement was that if I got a ticket for parking on the street they would cover it. I asked for the owner to call me. I then sent 2 more emails. One that shows an screenshot of the website to reserve parking after making a reservation if needed and another with a picture of the agreement that I signed reserving parking. These people are a thieves. Take your money to reserve parking but then don't guarantee you a spot. Additionally, a fire alarm was going off on the morning of 9/15. There was no direction from anyone as to where to go and what to do. The bathroom is not clean. The shower has soap scum and the bathroom floor was dirty. The shower liner was also yellowed with soap scum. There weren't enough towels for our stay. There is a table on our floor that stated to take towels from there if need but there were no towels. No one was available in the early morning hours to get towels from. The front door to the inn did not close all the way and was easily accessible to anyone after hours. The refrigerator in the room did not work properly and froze our drinks and food. There was dust and a dirty washcloth under the bed. I do NOT recommend this property at all. Horrible customer service.

It's run by about one person with a couple staff for help, but he is the only person who books people and gets payment. You have to catch him at just the right time as there is not really an office or a front desk to this place and her takes all the calls to his personal phone it seems. Upon arrival, check in is quite simple. The door to the building (a renovated house) has a keypad on it, so you can only get in with a code which is great. The room is unlocked when you get there and the keys are left on a counter for you to then use as you may. They have several rooms depending on the duration of your stay and if you want a private bath, but I stayed in Room 3. It was quite nice!! It had a whole living room to myself with a little closet, a TV, a small kitchenette with a sink, microwave, and a mini fridge. They give you dish soap and provide some bowls, plates, cups, and even some wine glasses. The bedroom was spacious, had a nice bedside table deal with plenty of outlets nearby, and an expansive cabinet for you clothes and a nice desk. The bathroom is small, but fits everything you really need. All the rooms were quite clean upon arrival. It was a clean facility and a super good location, right next to Coolidge Corner and the T line, IN walking distance of a Trader Joe's, a pharmacy store, and some other fun shops, For the affordable price, I definitely would recommend this place!!!

Not enthused. I came to stay in Boston for 4 weeks for work purposes and we thought that the Marion Inn seemed like a nice place to stay long term. My first impression was that it was a little run down, but I am honestly not picky. As long as a place is clean and relatively quiet, I don't really care about much else. Upon further inspection there was a mildewy plastic mat in the shower, the window a/c unit was so old, loud and obnoxious that I barely slept that night and everything was just very dingy-looking. I was relatively ok until the next morning when I woke up to shreds of my unopened chip bag completely ripped open by mice.... there was no denying the evidence. During my panic is when I discovered the droppings on the kitchen table..... please don't stay here. Unless you don't mind fuzzy visitors. My work was generous enough to get me out of there immediately and put me in a beautiful B&B a couple blocks away (the Bertram Inn - DEFINITELY stay here, huge improvement from Marion Inn). We were booked through a third party who refunded the rest of the stay and were apologetic, but I also found another review on this place that found rodents in their room and the inn keeper didn't even sound phased. I would wholeheartedly not recommend staying here until they take care of their rodent issue. They also are not inexpensive, so nothing really adds up.

It consists of what appears to be a residential rental apartment where one person lives and a Room with an electric heater. ZERO art on any wall in the apartment including my room, which clearly was not originally a bedroom. The room consists of one bed an a table. No closet, ZERO hangers or even hooks to hang cloths, No dresser. You get free coffee. The room window is covered by something which is impossible to open or see out of, as is the living room in the unit which has a TV which one can't figure out how to use, nor was invited to use. There is NO sign on the outside. To even find the house number one goes inside a small area looking to see if this is the place. I met no one named Kitty, only the owner who seemingly doesn't reside there. The housemate who rents a room in the apartment is a terrific helpful guy who showed me how to turn on the heat in the common area. It was freezing outside and inside my room with I arrived. Most disturbingly, going to sleep I received a Priceline review survey and gave Kitty a mediocre rating. The next morning it had snowed and the owner asked me irritatingly why my review was not great. I'm from California and told him I hadn't seen snow in 10 years and the snow was beautiful. The outside 10 stairs to leave were covered in four inches of snow as was the hand railing as was my car parked in the driveway. Being extra careful not to fall down the steps I pushed the snow off the handrail and my windshield without gloves. The owner offered no brush to do this but commented that someone else has asked for one once. I told him to be careful to clean the steps to the house because someone could easily slip, and he said "I'm going to put some salt out there." Cambridge is beautiful and I later stayed at an alternate place on Irving St. which was absolutely gorgeous. Kitty's House is a guy who is renting a room in an apartment, calling it a guest house with no sign on the outside of the house with even the house number. Reservations are Non Refundable

Clearly every effort has been and is being made to accommodate guests. The lady on the desk was professional and very patient with a tired traveler whose GPS had taken him and his traveling companion to the wrong address, the affiliate location, 1750 Beacon Street. This was in spite of a phone call informing us of the issue and an inquiry to confirm that we would arrive before 9:00 P.M. when the front desk closes for the night until 8:00 A.M. the next morning. The location was perfect for the early morning medical appointment which occasioned our stay. If you are a light sleeper and in Beacon Street facing rooms, the trolley passing from 6:00 A.M until Midnight might be a problem. However, this is a city location. Normal traffic noises are not an issue. Booking.com failed to inform us that our reservation was for Room #7 which has a private bathroom across the hall, not in the room. In fairness to the Beacon Inn, this is properly noted on the Beacon Inn website. The room was spotless neat and clean with extra blankets. Heating and ventilation was fine. The bathroom was equally clean and properly equipped. Bring your own hair dryer. Perhaps, we should concluded on our own that our room would be up three flights of stairs with rooms another flight above, no elevator, not easy for access for anyone with mobility issues. The price of $116 plus an additional $36 for parking was extremely reasonable for the location in Greater Boston. Parking was convenient and close with excellent, in person direction on how to access. Breakfast starts some time after 8:00 A.M. We left at 7:15 for an early medical appointment. Reading previous reviews, it is clear that significant efforts with notable success have been made to correct deficiencies.
