This review is a bit through my sons eyes. However I did pick him up and dropped him off from the Transportation Station in Williamsburg. The station is located just blocks from the campus of William & Mary. Ample parking is provided and the lot was clean. The building is fitting for the area but seemed nondescript with small signage on the building. Mask are required inside regardless of vaccination status. Tickets can be purchased inside. The Men's restroom was functional and clean. I purchased my sons tickets online which was an easy to use system. Major credit cards are accepted. An email confirmation was generated immediately. The train arrived around 5 minutes late, not bad. My son rode coach for $27 from DC. Quite the bargain. He described the trip as comfortable and similar to a bus or plane with more leg room and better seating. The timing was approximately 3.5 which is slower than driving in perfect conditions which never occurs in NOVA. The return was less than 10 minutes late and quite crowded with some passengers traveling as far as Philly. My son will schedule to use them again some time in 2022. By the way, if your wondering if the conductor yells ALL ABOARD when arriving they do. Just like the movies. read more

I realized after being on the Amtrak Northeast Regional train for about 30 minutes I forgot to check-in at the Williamsburg Va. Amtrak station oops. It's okay though because I took plenty of helpful pictures. Upon arrival to this location by way of an Uber I went to the ticket window at 9am and explained to the lady that my Thursday train was canceled and rescheduled for today - Friday, because of the snow storm here in Va. I explained to her I had no new ticket printed only the old one printed. She asked for my name and I.D. and printed me up the tickets I needed within 2 minutes. She was extremely nice and helpful. She pointed to the doors where I would be boarding the #94 train and told me that announcements will be made when the train is near by. The other staff members at this station made announcements often, keeping us updated on the delays, YES there were a few delays. The staff was clear and direct, they were repeating announcements at least twice. Thank goodness. The environment: Pleasant, clean, semi-crowded (but quiet), enough seats for the amount of people today, restrooms clearly defined, vending machines all in working order, no odor indoors, platform ice free as much as possible, and it was nice and warm inside for it to be 14 degrees outside today. Boarding: Very organized. Staff made announcements and even directed riders to the area they should be standing to board their specific ticket accommodations. Specifically, coach riders, business class riders, and private room riders were all directed to the precise location to wait for the train to be closer to where they would board and sit. Again, very organized. BTW there are seats located outside on the platform so you don't have to stay inside waiting until the train arrives. What more can I really say about a waiting station? I took snaps of useful information for example, the different snacks and drinks available in the vending machine and the prices. read more

Quick.Easy comfortable ride from Williamsburg to NYC.employees very nice.trains clean and limited sufficient food service.

I was so excited to take a train to DC area for the first time. I was traveling alone and worried about needing to manage getting the luggage into the train by myself. My husband had ridden the train once before and reassured me there should be people working who can help. My husband even asked if he could assist me getting the suitcase up on the rack and was told no. My husband told the employee I would need some assistance. The man working the station was so rude and yelled at me for saying goodbye to my husband and then threw my big suitcase up the steps at me. I tried to grab the handle and missed it and he yelled at me again for not grabbing the luggage. I told him I was sorry and tried. He did not apologize and yelled at me again. He nor any other employee helped with the luggage. A woman worker on the train saw me struggling with my suitcases trying to push them to a seat and she yelled that I needed to move the big suitcase to the front. I asked her where and she just yelled that there was a luggage rack. Honestly I was so appalled at how rude the employees were that it ruined the whole experience that I was so excited for. If I could give this experience zero stars I would. I do not recommend traveling alone! I would expect employees assistance if requested and definitely to never be treated with such crass disrespectful behavior. It is never okay to raise your voice. So disappointing. read more

Surprisingly enough, this Amtrak station is the nicest one I've had the pleasure of visiting. Ok, maybe just waiting in. It's no Union Station or Penn Station by any means. But, the station itself boasts great customer service. Only downsides is that it's small insides with extremely limited seating. Still, I'll take a friendly Amtrak staff are friendly and on-time trains over anything else. Not much else to mention about this station except that it was clean, quiet and the vending machines were fully-stocked with a wide array of candy. Score, score and triple score. read more

The Cleveland to DC train (Capitol Limited 30) leaving Chicago at 6:40 pm on September 10 2018 -- smelled of sweat and body odors in all the cars. It was unbearable and disgusting. The only place that smelled decent was the snack bar and the observation car. No hot meals?? I wonder if they are phasing out the Capitol Limited!!! The only other problems I have had with Amtrak is the NY to Florida train -- just as yukky. read more

Lovely small train station. Like others have said there isn't real options with the exception of vending machines but this place is clean. I like it because the service is friendly and not very daunting in comparisons like others I have been to. It's located near WM and CW so it's super convienant for students and the tourist population. There is the bus line that drops you off right near the platforms so there is not much walking either. The intercom system is probably one of the better ones I have experienced because it is loud and you can actually hear it to some extent over the roaring of the train. Since it is so small there is usually only one attendant at the service window and in addition there is kiosk to print tickets out. The bathrooms the time I've been have been pretty clean. The lobby area I find is small, but there is additional seating outside where one can sit if the weather is nice. There is short term parking and it is free, I usually get a pass from the attendee to ensure my vehicle is tow-free. Overall, its a nice station in comparison to the one in NN. I feel its just more safer and the distance isn't much between the two. read more
