Gotta say that this place rocks! Can't believe I waited all this time to come visit this amazing vacation getaway. Brought the mom, missus, and kids here on a Sunday and had such a blast! Even though check in for rooms is 4 pm, you can get to GWL early and use the water park! Score!!! A one night stay gives you two full days of water park fun!!! My son tried the Magiquest game, and also played laser tag. We dined off property, but there are plenty of options if you decide to eat at GWL. Can't wait to go back and maybe even check out other Great Wolf Lodge locations! Wolf out!

I've been driving past this for like 20 years and saying I want to stay. Well, now I have a daughter so we came to get away and try to do something easy and fun for the weekend. My daughter is 15-months old so she's not really old enough for this place, but, we thought it would be fun to let her see and people watch. The rooms are stale and in need of some update and TLC - the floors in our room were nasty and sticky and my daughter's feet were filthy... gross. Check-in was easy enough - they have staff standing around to assist and we must've arrived at the perfect time on a Friday before a huge rush bc we just walked right up and used a self check-in kiosk and were done in like 5 minutes. We stayed in a loft room on the 4th floor with a queen bed upstairs and two downstairs. We did this since my mom came with us to help so it was perfect. One of the TV remotes didn't work at all, for a water park hotel they didn't have any hooks in the bathroom for towels or suits which is weird... The hotel needs new furniture and carpet and drapes - it just smells musty and moldy. We all sneezed all weekend in the room - so that made me think it's def. moldy. Food is sub-par - pizza and burgers and fried chicken sandwiches. It's pretty pricey and not good options. All this and I did enjoy the water park - I thought that was well-done and we had fun with our daughter and the slides and all the various water areas. The staff there were all excellent so this pulled them up from probably 1.5 stars to 3 overall. If I go back, it'll likely be for a day-pass for the water park for my daughter. I dislike that parking isn't free - this is an expensive place with a huge parking lot and they charge $20 a day! Insane... it's in the suburbs - this is not DC or San Francisco....

When I was a kid I'd always wonder about The Great Wolf Lodge driving past Williamsburg. Now 10 years later back in the 757 I finally got to experience it and it didn't disappoint! The place is beautiful inside and the staff were super friendly and helpful. We went on a weekday so it wasn't crowded at all. My child wasn't into the water park, but he loved the MagiQuest and arcade. I on the other hand enjoyed everything the slides, wave pool, magic quest and the arcades! I'll definitely be back!

*DAY VISIT REVIEW ONLY* Came here with the family for a day visit. We were able to get a nice seating around the pool. We enjoyed the park and water slides. We got food (chicken nuggets and soda) for the kids. The have a Dunkin' onsite to get your coffee and donuts. They have lockers for rent to secure your items. This is a huge place and although there were quite a few folks here, it never seemed packed or crowded. They have an arcade, Laser Trail game, Mining game and other for the kids. All in all, a great swim park to bring your families for a day of wet fun!

Our family visited for my daughters 3rd birthday. We stayed for 2 nights, 3 days. Digital check in was not offered as it's advertised so we had to wait in line to check in. Our room was ready pretty quickly, which was a plus. The rooms definitely need some updating. They were nice enough, but definitely haven't been renovated/updated in quite some time. All the staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful. We opted to not get the meal plan due to so many options close by. We did try the breakfast buffet on our last day. It was pretty good! It was about $60 for two adults and a child (3yrs old). The water park was nice, but definitely needs some updates as well as far as capacity. I could definitely see it getting overcrowded during the warmer months. The changing room is super small and does not accommodate more than two or three families. For me, it was a "been there, done that" experience. I don't have to go back in this lifetime.

Sorry, only had pics w my kids in them- edited them out w my extraordinary skills lol

We stayed one night and two days here bc my family live near by and we were really staying w them. My younger kids wanted to try the room that had a separate, tiny area w bunk beds and some other fun elements. I thought it was pretty pricy for being off season and a weeknight. We did the deal for one night and two days swimming. We did not eat on property, but opted to go to a local Chinese place that we had been wanting to try. They do have a lot of food and other fun stuff around the property, so really, if you never wanted to leave, you wouldn't have to. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean and nice and warm the pool/swimming areas are. We went in late September and it was too cold outside, but really nice in the indoor area. My kids are very strong swimmers, but I saw a ton of kids there, smaller and bigger, who all seemed to be enjoying themselves regardless of their swim skill level. I do recommend this location bc we had a great time. As far as the hotel part- I wouldn't stay again myself, only bc I kept comparing the price to what I spend at places in the same price range, and I just thought the room price was too much for only 5 ppl. I just didn't see the value. The pool areas- like a day pass, I'd def recommend and be down for that again. My kids had a blast and I had a nice time reading and relaxing in the nice, warm seating areas provided by the pool stuff. Sorry, I didn't remember to take a picture of the room without a lot of family in them and my pool pics were filled w family too. I'll try to be better about remembering to take pictures without my family in them for yelp reviews lol.

Me, my mom, and my kids had a good time. It was our first time visiting a Great Wolf Lodge. We stayed for 2 nights. My teenagers and I were honestly underwhelmed with the tiny amount of water slides. There definitely was not enough to do for 2 days. We probably spent an hour and a half at the water park on the first day and less than 4 hours on our second day. We could have gone back on the day that we checked out but my kids were over it by then and were ready to leave. I will say that the rides they do have were a lot of fun! My kids did enjoy themselves a lot. My favorite thing was the wave pool. As with any resort, everything is very overpriced. We went to the surrounding stores and restaurants for food and anything else we needed. I also paid extra for the kids cabin just for my kids to squeeze into bed with me lol. All in all, this was a nice vacation/getaway for us.

Where we need to be in praise of and for

Maybe some type of screening process to ensure guests are protected by what they can control and not allow alien like organisms where they are subjected to potentially permanent or who knows what because they can't figure it out but I have to live with it. They will take anyone's money irregardless of what they are bringing in to your pools to share. There water quality is rated very good for known organisms. However when it comes to spreading filth from who knows where, protect your family and your children and yourself and RUN!!!!! All pictures are of different areas on both of my legs where there were no breaks in my skin or any irritations. I reported this to the front desk during my stay and they called the Virginia board of Health themselves. Go there Spend money and catch a disease

We took our son here It was really fun would definitely come here again. It was clean and checking in was super easy. They even let us check in early

This is my second Great Wolf, this one is an older one located near Williamsburg. My first was the brand new one located in Northern Maryland, in Perryville. The rooms were good, the service was hotel excellent. The water park was a little older and didn't have the tiki bar in the new style. But we did have a blast, enjoying the lazy river, my nephew loved the small kiddie pool and slides. This location charged daily for parking, which was surprising. They offered all of the amenities of the other Great Wolfs. I enjoyed staying at this location for the proximity to Colonial Williamsburg and Bush Gardens. It's a decent location and the kids will enjoyed themselves. Full disclosure, the animals in my pictures are service animals and were welcomed at the Great Wolf.

    1. My little wolves got rid of their waterslide fear. 2. Amazing 5/5 experience at the hotel and waterpark. 3. Friendly, attentive staff. 4. Convenient & Accessible. 5. Great activities for kids and good food. My children were absolutely terrified of the waterslides. It took a bit of gentle convincing for a day or two, but they finally conquered their fears. I loved watching their confidence grow, which eventually turned into me turning down their attempts to go down the slides for the 555th time lol. Check-in was a breeze. Staff were very attentive. We purchased the breakfast package. The food on the buffet line as well as the omelette line were fresh as we walked through with our plates. Everything that you need is either here or near. The price may be a few dollars more but you cannot beat the convenience, especially if you drove a few hours and just want to relax. In close proximity, there is a Starbucks , Chic Fil-a, and a WalMart nearby if you choose to get those daily fixes. The activities are awesome. There's something to do almost all day and night. Overall, excellent 5/5 stay. We will be returning to Williamsburg Great Wolf Lodge?

Had a fantastic time. The staff were super friendly checking in. This is such a cool place for families and is VERY kid centric. Expect to spend a few bucks here because the activities are geared toward getting kids excited to play. The free stuff include dance parties for kiddos, mini shows/plays and ear decorating sessions. But they also have laser tag, bowling, and an arcade which are pay to play. Although the prices are quite reasonable. We particularly loved magiquest and running around the resort completing quests. They're very interactive and fun. The waterpark itself was nice but a bit smaller than expected. It can get pretty crowded fast so getting in early to snag a chair or table is a must. There are a few slides, lazy river and 21+hot tubs and a outdoor area too. We spent a few hours in the waterpark and definitely were tired afterwards. The lodge was very clean. There was constant cleaning throughout the hotel. The room itself was very spacious and clean. Didn't have any issues but the walls are a bit thin so you can hear what's happening in the hallway. But they do have quiet hours, which were helpful. The only negative would be the food is pretty unspectacular and the staff are polite but relatively unhelpful. Although relatively inexpensive, I do NOT recommend the buffet at all. Even the pizza and burgers on site are bland. The fries were the only good thing. Save your money and order out, there are tons of good restaurants close by.

If one wanted to work from the room, how is the Internet here?

The internet is decent in the common areas but a little rough in your room. We found that we had to hotspot from our phone to actually get work done.

Is this really more for kids? Would it be too cheesy for me to host a 40th birthday here?

It's definitely more for kids. The arcade, bowling, build-a-bear, events, etc etc - all primarily for kids. The waterpark is fun but even that is geared toward kids without much for fun slides.

If you're not DoD, you can either seek a commission, enlist, or make friends with a serviceman, then pay the visitor rate. This is more of a mini water park than a pool. There are three legit big kid slides, and four other little kid slides. There's also a gator bridge with an overhead net. There are lots of tables in the shade, either umbrellas or an overhead cover. There's a snack bar with some healthy options. There's also a fenced off splash pad for toddlers. There isn't really anywhere to swim that's more than 4 feet deep. There is a deep pool, but it serves as the splash down for the tube slide. There are plenty of lifeguards. They would do better to spend less time socializing/flirting with each other and more time watching the water, but the kid to mom ratio was about 2:1, so there was adequate supervision. One girl was actually turned 90 degrees in her chair, to face her friend rather than the pool. As a former lifeguard I found that appalling, but again, every little kid was pretty much under direct supervision of his or her parents anyway. They don't allow pool toys or water wings, but do have nice life vests for kids to use for free. They don't allow outside food or drinks, but the place is run by teenagers who don't care to shake down customers, so we had no problem bringing in snacks and drinks. Overall, for $6 per person, it was well worth it. Thanks for the good time, MWR!

There is one nice wide family slide for everyone. There is one super steep one that my six year old braved successfully. The last two are like a twisty open one and then a twisty closed tube style. No life jackets are allowed on the slides but the lifeguards literally stand there and catch your kids and take them back to the side to get out and go again. I was there by myself outnumbered and nervous about my nonswimming kids and no life jackets but quickly relaxed and realized my kids were safe and having the time of their lives. The lifeguards were happy to pass my kids to me but also totally fine if I got out to go do the family slide with one of them if needed. That's always the tricky part of being outnumbered by kids - when the pack wants to split up and I can't be two places at once. Anyway the snack bar food was pretty terrible but pizza was alright. You can bring in a cooler though. Next time I'll pack a full picnic for everyone. They do a lot of adult swims so the lifeguards can rotate but that gives everyone a chance to grab a snack and potty and also gave us a nice window to exit. The pool temp was fantastic and the water was clean. It's a government facility so there's some stuff that could use an upgrade naturally but for $10 a person I was impressed!

So, pack away and save yourself a fortune in concession stand prices. This is a clean and well-maintained facility, for sure. They offer pavilion rental and swimming lessons, which is great! One thing you'll want to warn your kids about ahead of time is "adult swim time" which is a 15 minute break for the kids from the pool they allows the adults to enjoy the facilities (and helps prevent sun-poisoned, exhausted kids)... my kids were upset because adult swim happened 10 mins after we arrived. Oops! There is plenty of seating and it's not so crazy (or wasn't today) that there are long lines... if you get here in time to snag a table, you'll have shade under an umbrella, but annoyingly, people fill the tables with their stuff (even though they aren't sitting there) and you'll be left without shade unless you plan ahead. The snack bar is an array of popsicles, string cheese, burgers, and preservative-packed packaged food that will run you between $0.50 and $5.00 per item. Not terrible on price, really, but far from health-friendly. Better than nothing! For $6/$8 per person, it's a great time. Pack a lunch to save more money, bring as many friends as you can fit in your car. We will be back!

The pool offers fun for all age kids - the baby pool has mushrooms and slides and there is even a mid size slide for kids too old for the baby pool but not ready for the big slides. All of the lifeguards we encountered were smiling and friendly. The snack bar has a wide variety of ice cream, drinks, and unhealthy fried foods (fries, Snickers, Twinkies) and service was fast and efficient. The inside eating area has lots of tables but is very dark. Now for the things that need improvement: Bathrooms are dingy and old, but not unclean. The party deck wood is old and I would worry about splinters. They have nice areas with tables and umbrellas to eat, but NO poolside chairs. Come on! For $20 weekend admission they should have chairs lining the pool area. The parking lot needs paving and spot markers, and the outside needs better signage to find the entrance. Even with all these negatives, I have to give 4 stars because my granddaughter had a wonderful time (she can't wait to go back) and the other patrons seemed to be having fun as well.

My husband was charged 4 admission tickets when he told Jennifer that there are 2 adults, 1…read moretoddler, and an infant. As soon as he noticed that she charged for our infant, Jennifer turned around and didn't acknowledge him after the transaction was made. As soon as our infant woke up, we all went in and requested a refund for charging our infant. She was not friendly at all and said, " I DID ASK FOR HEIGHT". She did give us a refund after we showed her that we actually did have an infant not 2 toddlers. The staff do not measure the kids. There is no sign or anything of 32 inches. The staff "eye balls" the height of children. Only giving two stars because the kids had fun. Besides that we will not be coming back. $20 is not worth going to a "family establishment " that isn't so friendly.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and you can't beat the location!

11/6/19 The White Water Canyon…read more.. Back in the 80's and my early 90's, I truly enjoyed going on this ride. Back then it seemed the words "you will get wet on this ride" rang true...no, in reality...YOU WOULD GET SOAKED ON THIS RIDE!  There was no question about it. The lines for this ride varied Some times you did not have a line or much of a line. Other times the line was up the wazoo. You could spent 60 minutes to three hours just to get on this ride. Yes, the ride was very popular. Especially when the day was very hot, you would be cooled off. I remember going on this ride and not wearing a bathing suit at times. The feeling of walking around in the wet clothes, but especially the wet underwear feeling wasn't good. Back in the days, swim wear was the best way to go. My last few times I went on this ride,  I remember  going down the rapids getting blasted by water guns from the other coin machines,  hitting waves of rapids, brushing up against the small waterfall and the middle water fall. If you happened  to make it past that point, there were the water geysers to contend with in two sections of the ride.   Finally, if you were lucky enough to get only partially wet like Emily Cantini and David Tropoja, you would not be so lucky when you reached the saw mill. Right at the end of the ride you would start hearing a roaring noise.  That would not be the sound of one hand clapping.  The sound would be hearing is the two large walls of water pouring out the sides of the shed.  The use to be a sign that said No Chance. These walls of water were design to get your ass wet. 99% of the time water would pour all over you and your friends or temporary seat buddy.  The wet sloshy sounds your shoes will make could be heard as you leave the ride would be heard and felt.  The last two times I went on this ride, I had a different experience.  Knowing I was going to get wet on this ride, I wore  wetsuit  to King's Dominion.  I remember it being a very hot day, but suprisingly the line for the White Water Canyon wasn't very long.   Although I did have to wait about 30 minutes to get on the ride, the trees gave off a nice kind of shade. Getting wet was part of the plan and I wasn't disappointed until the end. I was looking forwards to the twin waterfalls, but it didn't happen.  It didn't happen the second time I went there either.  I don't know why King's Dominion stopped the twin Falls in the mill section, because it was the most interesting part of the ride. People would do what they could to get their partner, friends and strangers soaked.  Every once and a while, one person including myself has made it through No Chance waterfalls section. If someone out there knows why King's Dominion has turned off the Saw Mill Waterfalls, I would love to know.  Still, this ride is a four star in my opinion.  It could easily be five stars if they fixed that Twin Falls section, but I don't see this happening anytime soon.

You must be military personnel, family, or in my case a sanctioned event where your invited. First the adventure pool area is in the newer section of the building. It features a 30 ft, 146 ft long triple loop slide. There is also a shallow end for toddlers with a maximum depth of 3.5 ft. This area by far is the best thing about the center. Minimal parking is located in front of the building. During an event it is quickly overwhelmed and over flow parking that is not too far away must be utilized. The competition pool is located in the older section and dates back to possibly the late 50's and looks its age. The competition pool is 11 lanes and 25 yards in length. It feature a balcony that holds 450-500 spectators to view swimming meets. Often the spectators are over heated even in the middle of winter. The balcony is not a place that I would ever want to be, it's down right miserable. The pool is a FAST due to it's size and depth. My 10 year old son got his first SCY record for his club in this pool swimming the 100 yard Butterfly as an 8 year old. The largest swim meet of the year held at the facility is the SEVA 12&U Christmas Champs. Around 800+ swimmers from around Virginia attend the Prelim/Finals format meet. It is considered a mid season short course championship and tune up to Age Group Champs held in March. The Aquatic center has locker rooms, showers and private changing areas for men and women. The building also has a multi purpose room and concessions. When the pool is not in use it is open for active military to utilize for laps. Swimming lessons are also offered for both children and adults. The center can also be used for birthday parties. Everything about the place except for the adventure area is old, old old. The pool serves the military community as well the swimming community who hold meets. The adventure area is great for families to enjoy. However, with the age and obvious maintenance issues in the competition pool area a three for this review is probably a stretch.

The check-in process was easy and the staff was friendly. In fact, all the staff members we encountered were friendly. They offer Keurig machines upon request, which I thought was a nice touch. We also requested an extra blanket. Both were delivered within the hour. The grounds of the resort are well-maintained and quite lovely. The pool looked in good condition. It has an indoor and an outdoor pool definitely would be fun for families. I felt safe while walking around the grounds with my dog. A couple of times when we entered in the evening there was a guard at the gate and he checked for parking passes. The unit itself is very worn. The couches and chairs were worn to the point of being uncomfortable. The sink was difficult to shut off and often dripped and the dishwasher had black mold in it. In general the unit needed a really good cleaning. I did use the sweeper and it smelled. All appliances did work so that is what is really important. If it had been cleaned better I would have given the resort a 4, if the couch and chairs were in better condition a 5.
