If you're super lucky, you'll have the extra conductors sit right behind you with their walkie talkies on high chirping every 30 seconds. Then there's the endless delays; 45 minutes one way, an hour and 25 minutes on the way back. This is true budget travel, so do not go Amtrak if you value your time or your comfort.

This is information that would have been really useful to us at 5am on a Monday morning when we arrived at the address given by Amtrak of where to catch our train. At least on the day we went, the inside of the building did not open until 10am, according to a sign taped by the door. We promptly went back to our car to drive up the road, toward the trains we could see on the tracks, to see if there was a more station-y station further along. And then we drove back. Luckily this time there was another woman who said she had taken the train before, and we were in the right place. The building looked really nice, through the windows. Luckily the two teenagers I was with were not traveling alone, cuz that was a freaky start to our trip. The train ride itself was great. While there seem to be plenty of horror stories about trips gone wrong, we had an uneventful ride to Chicago, and then at the end of the week, back again. With all that said, we would recommend this as a great form of transportation to Chicago and back. But we also would have loved to know we were catching the train at an abandoned building before we arrived. Just sayin.

He navigated through the heavy traffic with no problem and he frequently inquired as to the comfort of us passengers, whether we were too cool or too warm.He used clear communication throughout the trip, letting us know our next station stop and the estimated time of arrival, etc Ron went above and beyond and it was a pleasure riding with him. He also located my sleeping bag in the luggage compartment, which I have temporarily forgotten about. He loaded it in the next bus that we were taking and I really appreciated that. My limited contact with this company was very positive…read more (1) My daughter was given a ticket by a different company that required her to transfer to an Indian Trails bus 35 minutes after the bus would have departed. I contacted Indian Trails, and the lady with whom I spoke very kindly provided me the route information that would allow my daughter to make the transfer and continue her journey. (2) My daughter was scheduled to make a transfer in Lansing. Her bus was late, and the bus to which she transferred waited so she (and others) could make the transfer.
