What made my bus ride with Indian trails bus service so special was the driver Ron Jones! His professionalism and his kind and calm demeanor were a pleasure to be around. He navigated through the heavy traffic with no problem and he frequently inquired as to the comfort of us passengers, whether we were too cool or too warm.He used clear communication throughout the trip, letting us know our next station stop and the estimated time of arrival, etc Ron went above and beyond and it was a pleasure riding with him. He also located my sleeping bag in the luggage compartment, which I have temporarily forgotten about. He loaded it in the next bus that we were taking and I really appreciated that. My limited contact with this company was very positive. (1) My daughter was given a ticket by a different company that required her to transfer to an Indian Trails bus 35 minutes after the bus would have departed. I contacted Indian Trails, and the lady with whom I spoke very kindly provided me the route information that would allow my daughter to make the transfer and continue her journey. (2) My daughter was scheduled to make a transfer in Lansing. Her bus was late, and the bus to which she transferred waited so she (and others) could make the transfer. read more

Hello, I am a student and had an EXTREMELY BAD experience with the company. I am living in Houghton, MI, and wanted to go to Chicago. My bus was supposed to come at 11pm and it was -20 C that night. I waited outside in station for 1 hour and no bus came to pick me up, even though I saw a bus passing through the other side of road. After talking with customer service, they told me there was a bus that night going from Houghton to Chicago that night, but they did not notify driver of me! Also the night before that the bus was actually cancelled but they DID NOT send a text notification regarding cancellation, so I had to stay outside in very cold condition. They are NOT a responsible business and I would never travel with them, due to lack of attention to safety by this company. read more

Last winter an Indian Trails bus was on M21 heading east between Corunna and Owosso. It was around 8 am and they we're heading away from their main hub in Owosso so I can only assume they were heading off to a job. They failed to clean the ice off the bus and though I was six or so car lengths back, the ice flew off their side and roof and cracked the windshield on our Range Rover. When I called them to explain what happened, they refused to take responsibility. The gentleman I spoke with (and I use that phrase lightly) exclaimed, "Don't you have insurance?" Of course I have insurance....but why should I file a claim and pay a deductible for YOUR screw up? It was a sunny winter morning. No excuse. read more

Disappointed that Greyhound didn't have service to South Haven, MI, I booked one of their partners to get there from Chicago. They use the Greyhound Bus Stations in downtown Chicago and also pickup and drop off at 95th Street, making it convenient for South Siders. I managed to book my trip through Greyhound (I wanted those rewards points through their program), but it was a hassle to get the ticket. Because it is through Indian Trails, I could not print out a ticket, which meant that I had to get the ticket through Will-Call. This takes more time. Also, I had to have the return ticket mailed to me. I really disliked this - because if you lose the ticket for whatever reason, you are s**** out of luck. Hassle number one. The website really doesn't give you any insight as to where the South Haven center is. So you have to call for that, to confirm. Hassle number two. Indian Trails does not offer any wi-fi, unlike Greyhound. Boo. Strike three. The buses are nice enough, but the coach is not as spacious as the Greyhound. Strike four. The drop offs last 3 minutes, which really could be extended to 5 minutes so you could at least run out to use the restroom. Otherwise, you're stuck using the toilet on the bus, which has no sink (hand sanitizer). The coaches were nice enough and clean. They also have a large garbage bag for trash on board. Some of the seats have outlets, but there are no tray tables. I'd take it again - but I'd prefer to use Greyhound, where I'd get free wi-fi, outlets and larger seats. read more

The bus driver accused my husband of smoking on the bus and threatened to throw us off the bus and the bus we got on in escanaba was disgusting the bathroom reeked so bad as soon as you stepped on the bus it hit you in the face and was very rude it was 1490 59 Milwaukee bound and the smell was horrid everyone on the bus kept gagging horrible experience going home. They treated our luggage like garbage and didn't care if anything fragile was in it I asked the bus driver to be careful and he didn't care he completely ignored me I don't think ill be riding with indian trail anytime soon oh didn't i mention the smell of the bus was UNBEARABLE!!!!! read more

We hired this company to transport back and forth to a hotel from our house for a wedding. Didn't want guests to worry about driving dirt roads in pitch black darkness not familiar with area. Very disappointed. Bus driver refused to listen to directions that were direct without any wasted time. On a tight schedule and driver put us behind about 45 min. Called dispatcher multiple times but driver insisted he use his GPS which by the way was wrong. That is why we offered very quick directions that were DIRECT!! He wasted so much time taking our guests on field trips throughout michigan. Driver was reported but honestly this was the only issue with our wedding and it was avoidable. We paid for 8 1/2 hours and he barely worked 3. very very disappointed. would not recommend. read more

I ride this bus every other weekend and sometimes I forget to print my ticket. Seems like a bus station who hands out bus tickets would have a way to print their online ticket sales. Nope! Instead, I was told I should go to the hotels around there and see if someone will help. Well I had never done that before...they always just called in my confirmation number without a problem. Well these guys this morning sent me on a wild goose chase where the hotel business owners made up excuses why they couldn't help. I was honestly humiliated and almost missed my bus looking for a place. At least in order to ride I just had to get yelled at and scolded. What a frustrating and embarrassing experience! read more

Horrible service. This is the 3rd time I've got a bus ticket to leave ssm mi and the bus doesnt show up to pick up its passengers. I've been here since 11:20pm 1 hr early 12:20 am no bus 1:20am no bus . Try calling the 1-800 number to find out where the bus is and offices ate closed . There is 5 people here waoting . We have places to be today. So im giving the bus till 2am and I'm leaving. I'm now gonna have to pay $400 for a plane ticket to be in Duluth Minnesota by noon today. I'm beyond pissed off right now. Well, my experience with the bus line came after I departed the train. That's the only route back to flint was by bus. I was pleasantly surprised! The bus line had stepped their game up. The seats were just ok, however; the cleanliness, television, and many outlets for phone and other devices were great. I had plenty of leg room and lighting. One thing is having late buses so frequently. A whole other is cutting information on their bus tracker as soon as a bus is late. This company is anything but well run. I just rode an Indian Trails bus for the first time from Traverse City to Detroit. Horrible horrible experience. The driver was so rude she actually made me break down in tears. I asked her where I needed to transfer to another bus and her reply in a nasty tone said "don't you know where you're going? Read your ticket." I tried to tell her that I forgot my readers and I couldn't read the small print on my ticket. She then proceeded to belittle me in front of the passengers saying "this lady doesn't know where she's going". When I did get to my transfer city, she pointed to me and said, "you, this is where you get off." I had to step out into the aisle to put my knee brace on She then said in front of all the passengers, "this lady is just taking her time". The bus I transferred on to had a driver with the same nasty iattitude. I told her about the previous driver and she said, "oh, you mean the other black driver". I said to her "no, it's not about that and don't you go there". Those two drivers need to be fired immediately. I was hoping someone could guide me in the right direction to make a formal complaint about these two drivers. Any suggestions? read more

Overall the customer service was so bad, the original agent told me my ticket would be at the station, it was not therefore they would not let me on my bus. Next agent had me delayed 8 hours for my departure, also told me I would be compensated after my trip ended. Third agent told me I would receive a $30 refund (barely a fraction of what I originally paid) for the inconvenience. I never received that refund. Safe to say I will never use Indian Trails again. read more

The way this company does business is like traveling in a third world country. If you are shipping an item, even though you think it's going with Greyhound, you find out after the fact that you are getting Ind. Trails and/or other companies... 1) There is no tracking number. Their computer system doesn't handle tracking numbers. Their computer system doesn't link to any other company's computer system (like Greyhound) so there could be continuous tracking. 2) There is no insurance. They don't sell insurance. The Declared Value they request only allows them to charge you more to ship it if your item is worth more. Presumably you have to show a claim number to "claim" your item assuming it gets to the destination. You know, like you always have to do that at the airport, right? As if the recipient has any official claim check to present anyway; the receipt and so-called "claim check" are with the sender, you have nothing. So no one else who thinks your item looks interesting needs anything to pick it up and off with it either....which leads to.... 3) Since there is no tracking number, if your item is changing carriers en route, and sitting there waiting to be loaded, over days perhaps, whenever they have room, anyone can walk off with your item. And the company won't know what happened to it. Tough luck. 4) I don't know how many times the person said, "Once it's off our bus, it's out of our hands..." If it connects with another carrier, repeat the previous sentence. Did I say there is no insurance so even when it's "in their hands" you are on your own if the item disappears, is damaged, or destroyed. Nice. 5) Are you putting together the pieces that this company accepts no responsibility or accountability whatsoever? It's all about luck. 6) Since there is no tracking system, you get to call the stops (not a toll-free number, of course) and ask if your item left. Remember, no tracking number at other locations either; describe the box your item is in... To try to gauge when your item might arrive at the destination, you can spend literally hours a stop to find out if your item left that stop. If you have 4 stops, you get to call 4 different locations. You can spend hours, like I have, periodically all day to try to get through to one location; you know, you get the message about "we're sorry, we're experiencing high call volume" continuously throughout the day, so much so that it's more likely no one showed up for work or just put the phone on voicemail the whole day...(s?). 7) You call the home office to ask them to contact the location you are trying to reach. They have no way to contact anyone at that location: they use the same phone number that the public uses, no email, etc. (How does a business run at all this way??) 8) While you are on hold for the ***ieth time, listening to the same music reel, you know, and the music keeps spotting in and out, so you get the idea about their phone system too, but you'll have pleny of time to type a "yelp" review. By the way, the next time you call, they'll be closed for the day, but the voicemail message is unchanged, and you're only calling because the previous station said that they're open until 10:30pm...Oh, right, open, perhaps, they just don't answer the phone after hours, or at all. And how much money did you think you were saving by going this theoretically "less expensive" route and thinking that your item would arrive safely? Welcome to the third world country of Indian Trails. Lotsa luck! read more

I have been taken Indian trails bus on & off since last summer last Saturday on the 13th of April I took the bus from Roger city back down to Southfield Michigan when I got off the bus the bus driver I didn't figure out until a few days later had given me the wrong suitcase so now I am sitting here with somebody else's suitcase that has all their medication in it and I've called them twice so far and have not gotten a response I am extremely disappointed and that I am not getting any answers whatsoever I'm really reconsidering on not using the bus again because this is ridiculous I really feel that I should be compensated for what has happened. I'm still trying to figure out how to get my suitcase back. Because I'm not getting any help. read more

I am very angry and frustrated that my luggage was not there for me when I arrived at my destination. I stood and watched as the driver put my luggage under the bus before I got on the bus. I left Lansing at 3:25 from down town, stayed on the bus during the next stop in Grand Rapids, arrived in Reed City at 6:30pm and my luggage was not there. The driver says he remembers putting on the bus and the lady in Grand Rapids says she did not unload any luggage there; now explain to me how this could have happened??????????? read more

I really hate taking Indian Trails, but Greyhound doesn't go out of Houghton. I had plans to go down to Lansing, which went fine, but on the way home I got a call for an unexpected death in the family. I had to get the returning trip back moved back to accommodate for the funeral. The guy working at the Indian Trails desk in Lansing did a good job of finding a way for me to leave Rockford and get to Houghton because that would mean less time on this god forsaken bus. Fast forward to departure day and the bus driver was a complete asshole because my tickets were detached from the schedule due to the fact that the trip was spliced from two routes. So he's harrassing me about the whole thing and I have to explain my situation while on the verge of tears before he'd let me on the bus, and I wasn't even sure he'd let me at that point, which meant I would've had to find a ride up to Houghton to get back to school. All around it's a sh*tty time every bus ride with Indian Trails, I feel like no matter what driver it was I'd have the same treatment. So if there is ANY other way for you to get to your destination, I highly suggest you utilize it. And it's terrible because I don't think the company will ever actually read this review so they'll just continue to be terrible. And to the driver of MI 119 on 11/5/16 going to St. Ignace from downstate, you're an asshole, and I really hope you're happy you made a 20 year old girl break down on her way back to school. You should be real f*cking proud of yourself. read more
