    Beans and Chicken PAPUSA
    Andrew A.

Now I've eaten here plenty of times. All for three different occasions; breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each meal I've ordered were reasonably priced and presented to me with exquisite customer service. As the local mailman for the White Plains post office; I can't sit down and have a beautiful large plate of food. Those opportunities only shows up (depending on the weather and mail volume) so I would sometimes visit AMS and grab something quick to eat... Let me first safe the place is well maintained and clean, just because the "hood" (yes I know it's not the hood but for some reason White Plains locals calls it the hood) they think it's ghetto. It is not! There's a hospital across the stress and plenty of businesses nearby. All which I see generates a huge foot traffic for AMS which has been around for some time now. I can't recall the time I had a bad experience there because it doesn't exist. I've enjoyed my times I've visited AMS cafe. The staff are always professional and just constantly providing a great hospitality, savor delicious food. My chicken and bean PAPUSA (first time trying PAPUSA ever) won't be the last. Please support the locals!!!!!!!!! PS ask for extra sauces too.

Wow. Got delivery from here just now and wanted to leave a review ASAP! Honestly, it was fantastic. Everything was perfectly cooked, ingredients tasted fresh and presentation was solid. Salvadorian breakfast was great- ate it so fast I didn't have time to take a picture. The pupusa was absolutely perfect. We also got some wraps- I got the Mediterranean style wrap, my husband got the chicken Caesar- they which were delicious as well. Five stars.

Authentic Taste of El Salvador - A Hidden Gem…read more We were on the hunt for authentic pupusas and struck gold with this small, hole-in-the-wall spot that delivers big on flavor and tradition. With an extensive menu full of classic Salvadoran options, we ultimately chose the pupusas revueltas, filled with chicharrón (pork rinds), frijoles (beans), and cheese. They were freshly made, so we did wait about 35 minutes--but it was absolutely worth it for the taste and quality. The accompanying green and red sauces were excellent complements, though a word to the wise: the red sauce (which is more orange in color) packs serious heat. If you love spicy food, you're in for a treat--but it might deserve a little PSA for the uninitiated! They also offer a wide selection of aguas frescas. I tried the jamaica (hibiscus juice), and it was refreshing and flavorful. The prices are very affordable, the portions generous, and beyond pupusas, the restaurant offers a variety of Salvadoran snacks, candies, chips, and even ice cream--perfect for anyone wanting to relive the flavors of home. A special thanks to Brenda, who curated a playlist of classic cumbia music that gave the whole experience a warm and nostalgic vibe. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend this spot to anyone craving authentic Salvadoran food.

They have a nice selection of pupusas, plus a full menu of entrees, an assortment of drinks, and a few dessert options. I ordered two pupusas revueltas, atol de elote, and tres leches cake. The pupusas were perfect, crisp with delicious filling. They're served with a fresh slaw and tasty sauce. The atol de elote was fantastic, served piping hot, it featured sweet corn flavor and a great mouthfeel. The tres leches cake was a wonderful version, the icing was great and the cake texture was perfect to absorb just the right amount of "leches". Prices were very reasonable. Looking forward to returning for more of the same dishes and to try the entrees!

The amount was Way Overblown (The Amount Billed Came Nowhere Close to what was ordered)! When I addressed it, the waitress seemed more annoyed than just being forthcoming! She tried to justify the amount at which point I informed her that I a would Refuse to pay the bill unless I spoke to the General Manager! At that point, she accepted the amount I was willing to pay which was simply the amount posted on the menu! At which point, I informed her that if they want to keep their customers, they had better either Update their Menu with the Appropriate Prices or Inform customers that the Price on the menu has not yet been upgraded and just verbally inform customers of the correct price.

The wait seemed to be pretty long so we kept our space there and went for a walk when we came across La Papusa Loca and decided to grab a table. The decor is nice and I liked the wall art. We sat by the window in front so we could people watch as we enjoyed our meal. Our server was very nice. She explained the specials and we were luckily just in time for happy hour prices for drinks. We started with the appetizer platter which was a smattering of various items, along with grilled chicken hearts. They tasted really good. I had the octopus as my main and hubby had some sliders. All in all, I feel we were lucky to come across LPL when we did. Hubby and I both agreed that we would definitely be back.
