grilled chicken burrito w/ rice, lettuce, onion, and Oaxaca cheese
    Jason M.

White Plains, like many other places around the country, has seen a number of businesses close their doors since the COVID pandemic hit. While it's depressing to see, it is also encouraging that a number of new businesses are in the works or have opened their doors already. Bello's is one of the newest eateries to open in Downtown White Plains, and since I'm always down to trying new places, I decided to try them out for dinner. Bello's is located in the heart of City Center in Downtown White Plains. It's the second new Mexican restaurant to open in the area, and coincidentally(?) the second Mexican restaurant to replace and Italian restaurant. Even with two Italian restaurants down, people needn't worry since if anything there is an overabundance of them in the city to begin with. I had been to the restaurant that preceded Bello's and from what it looks like they didn't do too much with the interior. It kind of has a generic decor but added Mexican touches which made it inviting. Full disclosure though, I ordered out so I could only judge by what I saw walking in and picking up my food. Anyway, they posted a menu on the window with a QR code to access their online ordering portal. There's a large selection - a lot of Mexican dishes with a few American selections as well. I was surprised to see a breakfast section on their menu but per their website they open at 6am so it makes sense. I was in the mood for a burrito - they gave a lot of option to customize so I chose to fill it with grilled chicken, rice, lettuce, onion, guac, and cheese. I also wanted to try their chicken flautas, and I got sides of rice and beans to round it all out. The flautas were pretty good - they were a nice size and had a good amount of chicken in them. The rice was seasoned well, and the beans were good but nothing spectacular. The burrito was generously filled, and I thought it was great that they included a number of sauces to complement both the burrito and flautas; the dipping was real and added a lot of flavor to the food. Service was good - the woman at the front counter was very friendly. If I had to give one piece of feedback it would be to pay mind to pickup times. I'm not sure they paid attention to the fact that I chose a later time because I arrived only 4 minutes after I said I would and had received a call to remind me that my food was ready. They're new, though, so I'm sure they'll work out the kinks as time goes on. Overall, though, I enjoyed my first experience at Bello's. I'm happy to see a more diverse selection of restaurants open in WP, and I'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu.

The food was good. Waitress was friendly but I had to continuously get up to ask for napkins and for the bill. The bill came with a 16% service charge a 3% charge for using credit card plus your regular 15% 18% to 20% tip. My bill that was $79 plus tax. Ended up being $103 without the tip.

The al pastor tacos are the closest I've had to the ones in playa del Carmen! DELICIOUS Thank you for coming to WP! Oh btw, I do agree with one of the previous comments. The pineapple on top is served raw but it was still really good. Of course the ones in Mexico; the pineapple is roasted on top of the pork which makes the tacos even more mind blowing but none the less I still think these are really great tacos especially for it to be in this area.

Warning: There is some language in this review as I felt it was necessary to convey my honest opinion. Absolutely fucking disgusting. That is the best way I can describe my meal here. As I walked in, the place was completely empty, enough to put anyone off. I decided to continue into the restaurant and had a seat at one of the tables in the back. The service was terrible, even though we were the only ones in the whole place, and the food was even worse. The waitress first brought out some chips and salsa that were incredibly stale, and they tasted as though it had been left out for days. I ordered the tacos, which took forty five minutes to come, all to end up tasting horrible. As you can see below, I couldn't stand them, and was forced to spit them out. My wife ordered the burrito which tasted sweaty, if you know what I mean, and she nearly threw up. If you are in the white plains area I highly suggest you avoid this shithole, and there are much better restaurants you can go to than this. If you are looking for Mexican, I recommend chipotle. I'm giving this restaurant a 0/5, never again. Jerome

Delicious!! I got the special Al Castor taco. Unreal! Great spot easily accessible in the Center of WP. Excellent wait staff service, so kind and helpful.

We arrived around 5:15pm and were seated right away. We ordered the Beer Battered Fish Tacos, Chicken Mango Tacos, and Chicken Empanada. The Fish Tacos were the star of the show, but everything was sooo good. For drinks, we got a Mango Margarita, Passion Fruit Margarita, Mango Mojito, and Strawberry Mojito. The Margaretas were strong but still delicious, and the Mojitos were not as strong but also delicious. They have a variety of flavors for both drinks, though they were out of the Peach and Cucumber flavors. There were multiple servers helping out, so there was always someone nearby when we needed something. My only negative is that we were sat right under a speaker, and the music was loud enough that I had to shout to be heard, but the music was very groovy so I didn't mind all too much.

Solid spot for tacos if you want variety and good flavors. Would definitely come back.

First time visiting and it definitely won't be my last! This restaurant has been around for about…read moresix years, and I'll admit I had previously dismissed it because it's located in an outer strip of stores where Harmon and Bed Bath & Beyond once were. I truly wish I hadn't--because I was thoroughly impressed with the food, the décor, the service, and the extensive menu. There are so many dishes I want to come back and try. From the moment we walked in, the restaurant impressed us with its vibrant, themed décor and incredibly friendly staff who made us feel right at home. Warm tortilla chips with chunky salsa and glasses of water were brought to our table immediately after we sat down, which was a great start. They have a full-service bar, and while they don't offer frozen cocktails, we honestly didn't miss them. I had a coconut margarita, and my husband enjoyed a passionfruit rum cocktail. He doesn't drink tequila, so I asked if rum could be substituted, and they were more than happy to accommodate. He chose a Tajín rim, while I opted for sugar instead of salt. Both drinks were strong, flavorful, and served in really nice, heavy margarita glasses. We both chose specials from the House Special Grill, and wow--what a great decision. My husband had the skirt steak and jumbo shrimp, served with a creamy corn salsa, and he loved every bite. I ordered the grilled steak with sautéed onions, homemade tortillas, cactus pad (nopales), rice, and beans. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, and perfectly prepared. We ended the night on a high note with dessert--one of the best flans I've ever had--paired with a glass of hot Mexican coffee. Absolutely delicious. Amazing food, great drinks, welcoming service, and a fun atmosphere. Highly recommend!
