DO NOT HIRE AMPLIFIED MOVING. Financially exploitative, destructive, and a complete nightmare for anyone with a medical condition or disability.
The Bait-and-Switch Pricing:
We were originally quoted a little over $500 for a 3-hour move after fully disclosing our inventory, including a king mattress and adjustable base. Instead, Patrick and his crew took 10 hours and charged us over $1,300 which was more than double the estimate.
The Incompetence & Target Behavior:
The worst part was how I was treated while medically vulnerable. I live with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), a severe chronic pain condition that limits my mobility. My bed is a medical necessity where I spend 99% of my day to manage severe back and leg pain.
The crew did not voice any issues with the bed while my husband was home. Instead, they waited until the exact moment my husband left to pick up our son from daycare to announce they were refusing to bring my king mattress and twin base upstairs. They knew the physical state I was in, and they deliberately waited until I was isolated, knowing I was in too much pain and distress to properly communicate or advocate for myself.
Left stranded and panicking, I had to call my husband back for help. When I spoke to the owner, Patrick, he showed zero compassion. He told me I needed to be "accommodating," and later dismissed my medical distress by telling me I should be more appreciative because we have a beautiful home and live in a beautiful country. Ironically, Amplified later sent a second crew who moved the exact same bed upstairs with zero issues, proving the first crew was just avoiding the work.
The Property Damage:
To top it off, they caused widespread damage to our belongings and our new home. They damaged nearly all of our furniture, broke two out of our three televisions, and gouged our flooring and a curtain rod.
The Lack of Accountability:
When we contacted Patrick about the price jump, the extensive property damage, and the mistreatment, he refused to take responsibility. He told us we needed to make "compromises" on our broken items, and called my husband rude for demanding accountability. We had to fight the entire next day just to get someone to come back and move my bed upstairs. Patrick claimed he was doing us a massive favor by sending a second crew, stating they were supposed to be off for the holiday. However, when those movers arrived, they let slip that they were actually just in the area finishing up another job anyway. Patrick lied to make himself look like a savior, when in reality, he was perfectly content leaving a woman with a severe chronic pain condition to sleep on the floor on a mattress his own team had already ripped up, expecting me to wait until the following week for a resolution. It is astonishing that a business owner could show such complete and utter disregard for a client's basic physical well-being.
