Amore Berry Salad
Carol I.

We often stop by the downtown Amore Pasta location (pre Oilers game), it's clean; and the food is cooked right in front of us! However, this time we had my husband's birthday catered by Amore Pasta. The food was incredibly well received by all of the guests. The salad was incredibly fresh, the pasta was delightful (not overcooked), and the tiramisu was perfect (it's non alcoholic). We had the large platters, which are meant to feed 12 people. From ordering online, the swift delivery & the incredible food, Amore Pasta will definitely be on our minds in the future if we are considering catering!

As far as quick pasta goes, this place was pretty great. The ingredients tasted fresh, good quality, the flavor was delicious. A good customer experience as well. I ordered from the menu but, you can create your own. A place a would come back too.

Bruschetta pasta salad.

We ordered the bruschetta pasta salad, Sicilian pasta and a garden salad. With the bruschetta salad you picked the vegetables and they add bow tie pasta and cheese. The garden salad came with green leaf lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion and it came with dressing on the side - their house Italian is balsamic vinegar with oil as the base. The Sicilian pasta was in a thick creamy butter sauce and had mushrooms, bits of meat and thick pasta. Everything had a great flavor and was fresh. They also had little bread rolls and butter. Great service and great food.

Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken

My first time to this place. I got a to go box of fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. They ask if you want cheese with it (say no as it is $1.50) and there is Parmesan when you pick up your meal which I didn't know at the time. First bite was a cheesy gooey yumminess. All other people's meals looked fantastic. It was a very heavy meal which is good for two meals.

Cheese pull of The Pacific Mac and Cheese

Cafe Amore and Black Pearl Seafood has opened their "build your own pasta" place downtown! (There is also a location far south side) Located in the MNP tower, you can be sure to find lots of people who work downtown stopping by for lunch! With that being said, if you do stop by during lunch time, be prepared to wait, especially if you order one of the baked pastas like I did. (My order took about 30 minutes from placing my order to receiving my order) There was a long line out the doors and I'm patient, don't have to worry about going back to work. If you are lazy like me, there are pasta creations that have been created for you already to choose from so you do not even have to think about what ingredients to choose. I opted for The Pacific Mac and Cheese because I love myself some Mac and Cheese. Definitely a good amount of cheesiness (cheese pulls for days), and it was not over salty! Macaroni is made everyday as well. This dish was $16 and I only was able to eat about half of it (and the other half for lunch the next day!). I also think a lot of people could finish the whole thing, but maybe you should think about portion control because that's a lot of cheese... hahaha. You do you. I would come back to try their other pastas, but maybe not during lunch rush because I have to pay for parking.

I started the meal with the Don Vito cocktail, a spirit forward sweet concoction of Cognac, Bourbon and Limoncello. Immediately felt like it set the perfect tone for dinner. The tasting menu started with four appetizers, the Arancini, Goat Ricotta Crostini, Insalata Siciliana and the Culatello. My favorite was the arancini as it was packed full of melty cheese with so much flavor. The culatello was a crowd favorite and the crostini was a great palate cleanser. For secondi we had the Truffle Gnudi and Paccheri. For people who like meaty flavors go with the paccheri, but I liked the light cheese and truffle of the gnudi. By the time the Pollo Al Mattone came around, I could only manage a mouthful of the succulent brick chicken and the fresh cabbage salad as I was so full and would need to be rolled out of the restaurant. We ended with the Chocolate Budino, which was dark, creamy and delicious. A great tasting menu at a great price, especially compared to Toronto prices!

The appetizer with the cheese on toast was so much more flavorful than cheese on toast should be. Our companions had a pasta dish with sausage and it was amazing. If I lived in the area this would be a favorite to return to often. I like that the bartender just works on drinks for servers and there aren't patrons directly ordering drinks from him to slow the service.

Place has "very fancy" feel and would be good for special events/celebration dinners. Free bread to start was fine but not the best I have had. I prefer mine with butter but the oil/vinegar is probably more typical. We tried the: Calamari: 10/10, great texture, loved that we got 2 sauces to dip in. Fettuccine Tavolino (cheese wheel pasta): 10/10. Boyfriend was not too full after. Pasta was cooked perfectly. Nice cheesy creamy flavor. Ravioli Alla Zucca: 9/10, I can't remember if there were 6 or 7 ravioli in the dish. Very pleasing presentation. In my opinion too many sundried tomatoes. I love that it comes with sundried tomatoes as that added some great tang/flavor. Ravioli themselves were perfectly cooked. Brown butter sauce was excellent and wanted more. Creme Brule: 9/10, exactly as expected, definitely enough to share between 2 people. Affogato: vanilla gelato was 11/10 good to me but boyfriend didn't like the flavor. We both agree the espresso was excellent. Very small portion (too small to share!). Free cookies at the end were fine. Overall food was excellent and I'll be back but to try something different on the menu.

Violino, in an old home, its staff, and the food exceeded our expectations. We will most certainly be making a reservation the next time we visit the Oilers hometown. Damn that was good! Ushered upstairs, didn't really get a chance to take it in, so will be sure to stop and look around next time. The complimentary bread was great, the martini's good although one glass had far more than the other. I ordered the spaghetti bolognese, and although quite different from what we make at home, was excellent! K had the Alfredo flambé which was fired up tableside. It seems to be a popular option as it happened 6 or 7 times while we dined. They also don't soak you for the privilege of the tableside presentation. It was a little cheesy for K, but excellent nonetheless. Our server Eugenia from Hamburg was excellent, she can serve us anytime. She was attentive, and her timing was exceptional! We plan on making a reservation the next time we are in Edmonton. Top notch experience!

Server was nice but never refilled our table water even after we moved it a couple times to be within her view of the table (my friend swears he saw her see us move it to the edge of the table too). Rialto Float cocktail was nice if you like Pisco. Royal Jamaican Ginger beer was good too. Olive Calde - large portion for price. Olives were fine. Calamari - 10/10 delicious, dips were great too. Gnocchi with pancetta - 10/10, surprising filling and even though the Gnocchi were huge chunks they were well cooked. Waitress recommend Campanella Aragosta - 7/10. If you like spicy it's fine but otherwise the flavor is actually very bland. Pasta itself was unique and well cooked. Large portion. Beef Brisket Agnolotti - 7/10, 8 large ravioli filled with brisket. Sauce was good, ravioli were well cooked but brisket inside was pretty underwhelming. Friend who got this dish was ++ hungry still after and said he would order something else next time for the price. Funghi Cipolla - 8/10, it was as expected. Ricotta cheesecake - cheesecake itself was great with the ricotta taste but crust was soooo bad. So overly thick and dry and considering our waitress failed to give us water the entire meal it was impossible to eat (so dry). Date cake - Unfortunately they didn't have gelato as was advertised on the menu to go with the cake so whipped cream was substituted. Was told this only after we ordered and friend asked for the flavors of gelato. Cake had a few uncooked flour lumps. Flavor was fine but not as flavorful/spice-heavy as I hoped. Sprouts on top looked really messy but tasted fine. Overall not a seamless experience as I would have expected from an establishment of this caliber.

Even though it was getting busy, the service was attentive and friendly. The server was great to refill out drinks, and check in on us. One of my favourite salads is there Avocado e Gamberi. It's a large salad with avocado, greens, tomatoes, pickled onions, shrimp, and a delicious vinaigrette. The only complaint is I wish there were more than 3 shrimp! My tablemate had a pasta dish and the smaller portion, which was perfect for lunch. We ordered the tiramisu for dessert. The portion size was big, so a dessert for sharing after having a meal. It was delicious and I enjoyed it. I'll definitely be back to enjoy more great food!

Our server was helpful, seemed to always appear at the exact right moment and had wonderful recommendations. Rented out the private dining room (5pm/8pm options) which required a $500.00 deposit. We customized our own $78.00/person set menu. 22% automatic gratuity is added on top. If you bring your own cake, they charge $3.00/person. Our waiter, Jordan, was excellent. We ordered two Bollini pinot grigio ($55.00) and Il Bruciato DOC ($75.00) wine bottles. For food, there was black tiger shrimps, scallops, risotto, rigatoni (not al dente), brazino (sea bass was the best dish of the night) and short rib. The vegetables (carrots, brussel sprouts and oyster mushrooms) were impressively small. Three small bowls for the entire table. We ordered another brussel sprout ($16.00). They also charged $2.50 for hot water. Food was okay but nothing memorable.
