I got muscle strains about 2 years ago and I could not walk. My doctor have me a pain killer shot and prescribed me muscle relaxant and strong pain killer. After a week I still felt stiffness, could not walk much and could not even stand straight. I tried to see my doctor again but she said'no, you don't need to come here, I cannot do anything else' and sent me to physical therapy instead. Nothing help much because physical therapist only taught me how to exercise and how to prevent it from happening again. She didn't fix anything so I decided to seek another help and I found Dr. Adams. I have been seeing her almost 2 years now. She is such a kind and patient person. Even though western doctors do not recommend any alternative medicine, I never feel regret to go see Dr.Adams at all. She is better. I feel grateful and thankful to her. read more

Dr. Adams made observations and recommendations that no one - not personal trainers, not physical therapists, not doctors had ever noticed or thought of before. She is highly skilled! I can't believe no one has Yelped Dr. Adams! She is the reason I do not sit around hunched over with one shoulder next to my right earlobe anymore! (Stupid repetetive stress injury...) I personally think that people do not want share her loveliness with others, and selfishly, I should probably rethink this post, but since I don't have many Yelp friends, I think I'm safe for now. Dr. Adams does sports medicine as well as chiropractic work. She is super gentle, really funny, and treats all of her patients like good friends or family. Plus, you've GOT to love Dee, her assistant. Dee is the nicest, most charming person I've met at a doctor's office (and practically, in life). She is so helpful, and doesn't ever get grumpy. She even helped me figure out my insurance without giving me flack about it. AND, just to let you know, aside from the awesome Ms. Dee, Dr. Adams is so great, she was chosen to work at this year's Olympics (aside from many international sporting events). She works with many of the bay area professional teams, but she's totally humble about it. If anything, it's nice to see a doctor so excited about the work she's doing. I'm going to run out of superlatives describing Dr. Adams: She is amazingly awesomely unbelievably caring, knowledgeable, kind, compassionate, funny, humble, personable, and extremely good at what she does. She gives attention to the whole individual, treating the entire person with great care and affectionate humor, using different modalities, and not just treating the ailment in isolation. She's a truly skillful practitioner and remarkable human-being. Her office staff, Dee, is just as amazing as she is -- kind and motherly, and at the same time very professional. Just to be clear upfront... I love Dr. Adams! I have been seeing Doc Adams for almost 7 years for multiple injuries and conditions; from a dislocated hip to painful lower back and upper neck, to repetitive stress injury in my wrist and thumb. This review has been updated. For some reason, Yelp kept deleting it, which is a real shame--Dr Adams is amazing and I feel blessed to have her aid on a regular basis. For many years, I was scared of chiropractors. I do aerial acrobatics and noticed my body getting out of whack--beyond what a massage could possibly mend--and so I did a little research and found Dr. Adams. I was thrilled to find not only does she have a sport focus, but she has been to the Olympics to work on the athletes there as well! At my second appointment (oh so many years ago), she opened up my neck, and I magically had 10 more degrees of rotation. Since then she's worked on everything, from my repeatedly strained intercostals, to my sore wrists and shoulders, my spasming back, my hip flexors, my shins, and my calves. She's truly gifted at what she does, and manages to do most of her work without the hyperfocus on cracking that I've always feared by chiropractors. Her study in biomechanics also helps--she'll watch videos of my movements and come up with a plan of action, as well as help me pick running shoes. She is a genius, really. Dr. Adams is very sweet and compassionate, listens very well, and has that great combination of skills and relaxing touch. Her receptionist, Dee, is also a total doll. I love this place. I've been seeing Dr. Adama off and on over the years for my neck. Not only did she help reduce severe pain from it, but anytime it acts up again she manages to stop the flare up in one visit. I wouldn't trust any other chiropractor. I've sent many friends to Dr. Adams over the years, and they have all been amazed by her ability to heal chronic problems as well. I've been seeing Dr. Adams for about 5 years now and what she does with just slight movements, and expertise is truly magic. She's never hurt me and has always fixed whatever problem I'm having. She's also given me some stretches and movements to help in between visits. I have never had to see her for long periods of time because she's so damn good she heals me right up. That is until the next time I make a stupid movement or lift something too heavy. Now I'm just a regular person but I know Dr. Adams also treats major athletes including players at Cal as well as Olympic contenders. If you've got body part out of whack...this woman can fix it. i had been training for the oakland half marathon when my knee started hurting. it was about a month before the race, and i was pretty panicked. so, i searched for a nearby sports doctor, and dr. adams was the most convenient. on my first appointment, she executed a very thorough examination, including perusal of my stride and my shoes. after that, we started my plan to recovery. i was prescribed stretches, an appointment a week, and the purchasing of tape for my knee. long story short, i was able to run the race, all taped up, but i survived! should i encounter injuries again, i'll contact dr. adams in a heartbeat! she was great! read more

I cannot recommend Dr. Adams enough. She helped relieve a severely seized shoulder years ago and continues to work wonders on my back and neck when I've had a particularly rough night or when all the strains from caring for and nursing a baby jacks me up. When I first took up yoga a few years ago, I thought it was going to be great for my health. I did wind up getting addicted to it, but unfortunately kept hurting myself -- apparently 40+ year old men aren't the most flexible people on the planet. I was very fortunate to find a referral to Dr. Adams on the Berkeley Parents Network page. I had previously tried a few other chiropractors and didn't really get much relief and frankly they seemed a little phony. Dr. Adams is a real person and a great sports doctor. She understands the pain and makes it go away. I notice another review mentioned her work with the US Olympic team so I won't say it again, other than to state how lucky we are to have her local to us here in the Bay Area. We're doubly lucky because Dee at the front desk is a wonderful person, always tries hard to squeeze you in and she can make me laugh even if my entire body has gone out of whack. My mom found Dr. Amor for me when I had a major back spasm through the Berkeley Parent's Network website. I did not realize she only had two Yelp reviews or I would have written one sooner. I saw her about three months ago after developing a major pain in my lower back. It got to the point to where I was nearly bed ridden from the pain. After being greeted by her beautiful assistant Ms. Dee I was shown into Dr. Amor's miracle room. We talked about my pain for about 10 minutes and then had me lay on my stomach. She then made a secondary assessment using her hands. After determining what was going on she left the room and returned with an electric pad that she placed on top of my lower back. She then left the room and came back about 15 minutes later. She then rubbed not just the injured area but also my shoulders and said that I was carrying a lot of tension in them. This had been an ongoing problem with me for as long as I can remember. Now if I remember correctly, I had paid upfront for just a treatment of my lower back spasm. She then spent another 20 minutes working the pain out of my shoulders. I swear my neck had never felt so good in my life and it still does to this day. Calling her a miracle worker doesn't do this woman justice. Its a very low key practice but the quality of service is outstanding. I recommend her to anybody and everybody that I can. read more
