We have one request...Offer meatballs as a pizza topping! The owner used to do this for us, but the last two times we were here, our servers delivered an unequivocal no! Today we ordered three pizzas for four people (yay for leftovers!). I ordered the St. Louis thin crust provel/mozzarella mix with pepperoni, green olives and extra cheese (forgot to request pepperoni on top of cheese ). Paul ordered the New York style with extra cheese and ground beef and our daughter and grandson shared a large New York style extra cheese, extra sauce. Nobody ordered their deep dish, but it is also quite good. The salads with house dressing and rolls hit the spot as did the soft drink, iced tea, Shirley Temple and Chianti. I've been here twice now and each time the food was amazing and the owner has stopped and talked to my party each time. He is incredibly nice and welcoming. The inside is very clean and has that old school pizzeria vibe which is really cool. I'd definitely recommend coming here and trying the deep dish pizza! read more

I don't usually leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough that I felt it was worth sharing. I called to place my first order and asked for some guidance on pizza sizes since I'd never ordered from this restaurant before. Instead of being helpful, the person who answered the phone was dismissive and made several rude remarks that made me feel like my business wasn't wanted. The conversation became so uncomfortable that I decided to hang up without placing an order. Customer service is a big part of the dining experience, especially for first-time customers. On a hunt to find the greatest pizza and wings in the greater st louis area and I only rate sausage pizza as sausage can very widely at restaurants and really can determine a good pizza from a bad pizza. And wings I always get buffalo. Wings- 5.7 just mediocre Wings at best. They don't stand out in any way. I personally won't get Wings from here again, but I will get their pizza. Pizza- 6.4 but would be a 7.4 flavor was pretty good. Crust was done right. Balance of cheese and sauce. But they get docked a full 1 point as I asked for half just sausage and the other half their version of supreme. But they instead gave me all supreme but no sausage on one half. I even explained twice to the gentleman who answered the phone for my Carey out order and he repeated it back to me and understood. So I guess the cook or whoever didn't read the ticket right. It happens. The pizza is still great so don't let that stop you from going here. Bonus: they had really good lasagna for a pizza place. I think they even put provel cheese on it which is always good. We were really looking forward to having lunch here as we've heard good things. Apparently, we were lied to. They get one star for the lunch side salad which had good croutons and was a nice size, and they get one star for the friendly waitress but they lost one of those stars for adding an unannounced surcharge for using a credit card, unannounced being the key word. We both ordered the lunch special of a chicken parmigiana sandwich and we were both disappointed. IMHO it was no better than the chicken sandwich from McDonalds, and worse of all it was totally processed as you can see by my picture. Nominal taste in both the chicken and the sauce, I've had much better at a local fair. If I owned this business I would be embarrassed to turn out a product of this caliber. Met friends here, including a couple who hadn't been to A'mis before. They became fans just like those of us who have dined here. A'mis has ample portions fairly priced. I understand, though, that some will dispute that two salads with no drinks, no appetizers, and no desserts are fairly priced at $28, including tax but not tip. The food is good, and it's a great place for the three major pizza styles, STL, NYC, and Chicago. The rolls are delicious, and same with many of the dishes. The staff are friendly and attentive. But it starts to go south from there... I'm concerned that the place is perpetually hiring, and the decor is starting to show wear and tear, and a lack of interest of routine maintenance or keeping updated. I wonder if that's why our latest trip, of four adults and one child, had a 20% tip built into the check, nobody said anything, and then on the signature slip, there was a space for a tip. I would have tipped 20% anyway, due to amazing service, but when it's already factored in, it just kills the mood. This tipping situation has clearly gotten out of hand, and while A'mis isn't the first to do self serving deceptive stunts like this, it still raised my ire enough to knock the rating down 2 more stars. read more

We came here to try the pizza. We have been here before but never tried the pizza. Just another couple at the restaurant having an early dinner when we arrived. The server told us to sit anywhere we wanted. We asked for draft bud light and after a long time she came back and told us that it was not working for some reason and if we wanted bottles which we agreed. We gave her the order and I asked for her name. She said her name was Hollywood which we taught it was a unique name for an older adult but it was cool. However, when the bill came it reads that the server is Mary. So mot sure who was our server. The pizza was really good. We chose the NY style meat lover. The large was big enough for both of us and took 4 slices home. A lot of to go orders but not a lot of people eating in. There is outside seating and the inside is big and comfortable. Would give 10 stars if I could. First, the food is really good here. I was coming here regularly before COVID and loved it. During COVID this restaurant used to donate food to my hospital. I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW MUCH THAT MEANT TO US!!!!! After that, this is now a regular stop and a regular part of my monthly budget. They stood by us back then and I'll be doing the same for them. The salad was in a large styrofoam container and was full of iceberg lettuce, one thin slice of a very pale tomato, 2 black olives, 2 pepperoncinis, a small amount of cheese, and a few sickening sweet croutons all for $9.95. Went to A'mis on a Saturday with 16 friends. Called ahead earlier in the week to let them know we'd be in. They had our tables set up and waiting for us 30 minutes before the requested time. Our server unobtrusively monitored our tables as my friends came in. She quickly took drink orders from arriving guests and generally had them served within minutes. She kept all drinks filled, both before and during the meal. I had the Cannelloni with a salad. Their House dressing was amazing!! Similar (but much better) to Imo's dressing. The Cannelloni was also delicious. It is generally served with red sauce, but I requested a combination of red and white sauce. The server said they couldn't do it because they were too busy. This explanation didn't quite sit right with me. I have difficulty imagining how adding a spoon of white sauce to a dish could be so time consuming. But I'm not a chef and don't really know what's involved so I didn't question it. Another friend had Fettuccine Alfredo. She loved it! The portion was enormous. She was only able to eat about a third of it. Many friends had pizza. All enjoyed it. I had several friends request that we return here soon. read more

The restaurant seemed mildly busy for a Saturday night. First time coming in and the place looked like a typical Italian eatery. Not a ton of decor. We were sat quickly. I got the eggplant which was highly rated on several reviews. One of the worst things I've ever eaten. The crust is super thick and doesn't taste like anything other than grease. The cheese was good and the sauce was good, but the eggplant itself was slimy and bitter. I deconstructed one of the rounds and it didn't even look like any eggplant I have seen before. It was super disappointing because it looked like it was going to be good. However, my boyfriend got the manicotti and loved it. I tried it too and it was really good. The service was very basic. Nothing special. I personally would not return here. ( side note: we wanted to get the Chicago deep dish, but the menu says it takes a minimum of 30-40 minutes to make.
