They definitely had whole chickens, wings, and quarters but also so many cuts of beef, sausages, and so much more. It's a really nice Italian market inside with produce and dry goods available as well. I got my whole chicken, we ordered also two sandwiches, got a loaf of bread, and went home happy. I've been here thousands of times, usually for meats and fresh baked bread, but this weekend I bought a lemon meringue pie. OMG..it may have been the best I've ever had. The crust was delicious. I have gone to Manino's for years. They have fresh grilling meats from local farms, fantastic baked goods (key lime pie is to die for), boars head deli meats and cheeses, along with produce, dairy, and many locally sourced dressings and spices. Everything has always been fresh and tasty. Until recently, I had never gotten a sandwich from the deli, and now get one once a week. They are not stingy with the meat, and I load mine up with fresh veggies and get it toasted for total perfection. There should be more small markets like Mannino's. I don't go often however, I am always impressed and happy when I do. This trip I picked up some breakfast sausage. I know... not super exciting.... I've been in this wonderful little market several times, purchasing top quality meat for BBQing. I've loved every visit. My wife had never been to Mannino's until our most recent visit. She asked a question to one of the workers about their freshly made, in store pies and then somehow got a personal tour by this employee to show her around the store, and telling of other items made in house. They also have a deli that makes delicious sandwiches. The Mama Mannino's is the one I recommend. They also have delectable looking pies but I haven't tried them yet. Other than meat, they have a decent selection basic fruit & veg, canned & dry goods to help you avoid the large grocery chain crowds. Another highlight are their fresh homemade pies and their Italian specialties both in the freezer section and in the aisles along with a limited, but thoughtful wine & alcohol selection, and STL made items. I highly recommend this market. The only drawback is the tiny parking lot that is a bit difficult to maneuver, but you can always park across the street at St. Joe's Catholic church and walk over. read more

I've been coming here for years and have always had great service. The meat selection is great and have always found what I want. The other groceries help when trying to pick up ingredients for a nice dinner. Today, 11/27/20 when I stopped in, the butcher helped pick out the cut I asked for. Upon going to the register though, I cannot express how disappointed I was to see the checker wearing her mask barely over her lips. After many years of considering Mannino's my "go to" butcher shop, I learned that I need to adjust my expectations. I have ordered fresh turkeys in prior years and got the same style as if I went to a local grocery store. This year I ordered 2 weeks prior to Thanksgiving and asked for both of the turkeys to be spatchcocked. The person at the meat counter took my order and I saw (with my own eyes) that he wrote down on my order to "spatchcock both of my turkeys". We went to pick them up and they handed us turkeys in the original Butterball packaging. No spatchcocking done. Then when pressed to spatchcock the turkeys, they acted as if they had NO IDEA what spatchcocking is. Watch any chef video and they mention that this is a common practice at butcher shops. And all you have to do is ask that they do it. Then when explained to the worker, they were not happy about doing it. I tried to explain that it was butterflying the turkey. The backbone is supposed to be removed and the breastbone cracked so the turkey can be cooked flat. I did the courtesy of putting the definition below: Spatchcocking is a non-gimmicky way to get you to perfectly cooked turkey--fast. Also known as butterflying, the technique involves removing the backbone and flattening the bird for cooking. As you can see from the picture below, I cut off the piece of the backbone and nearly sliced my fingers off. The attitude of not wanting to serve the customer when I requested it when they were ordered makes me wonder what type of business Mannino's really is. As this situation has presented itself, I have realized that Mannino's is just a meat shop. They don't profess to be a butcher, which would be happy to spatchcock a turkey when requested. BTW, I called other "butchers" in the St. Louis area and they all knew what spatchcocking is. And every one of them said they were happy to do it to any turkey purchased at their shop. Lesson learned, don't expect Mannino's to be a butcher shop. They sell meat, have a deli and a few groceries. They now are nothing special as far as local business. I can go to any local grocery store and get what they offer. I will think twice about going back. Every time I see the picture of the backbone that they left on my turkey and how dangerous it is for me to handle the turkey, I get mad all over again. I will manage my expectations. After lunch across the street from 1798 on February 25, 2020, Big Sis, her hubs and I came to explore at this amazing market. But it's more than a market. They have already been here many times before, predominantly getting steaks, meats and other butcher cuts. The vegetables were abundant and fresh and well-priced. The aisles were well-stocked. A lot of spices on the end-caps. The focus was the butcher area. This is a great little family owned business in Cottleville. Walking in makes you feel like you're on an episode of The Andy Griffith Show, it's like stepping back in time. Fresh homemade pies up front with a spectacular meat counter in the back. When they run a special it's usually pretty darn good and of course the meats are custom cut and super fresh. It's my go to place for meat. Now if you notice I did ding them one star and that's based mainly on price. With Dierbergs and Schnucks only about a mile away you would think that the staple items would be more reasonably priced. I'm more than a little surprised at how high some of those items are. But if you're all about the meat then they beat the chain stores hands down. Plus here's a little known secret. When they're closed at night just walk around to the back of the store there's a bar in the basement, how cool is that? read more

Service was awful. We patiently waited to get a pie and the lady who helped us acted so inconvenienced. Then when we checked out the same lady did not tell us our total or say thank you or anything. The cashier just kept gossiping with another worker. This is so uncharacteristic for Mannino's employees.
