Taquitos
Gina B.

We were staying at the hotel that is associated with this restaurant. We decided to give it try our last night there since we were all pretty tired and just somewhat hungry... we went in with intentions of sharing an appetizer and calling it a night. We ordered the ice tea which I'm mentioning because we had eaten in Old town and had iced tea and sent it back as it was pretty bad and we were hesitant to order ice tea anywhere else or they didn't offer fresh brewed tea, but they did here and it was refreshing! I ordered taquitos, my husband and son both ordered a quesadilla one had carne asada the other pollo... so much for sharing an appetizer Our waiter was great, attentive and friendly! Our food was hot and hit the spot! Would definitely come back!

This place really hit the spot! The food here was excellent. The taco salad with chicken was so good. I really loved this place. The service was friendly and the ambiance was amazing. I wish I could come back here but I have to go back up north in a few days. I give them 5 stars I highly recommend people try this place

Mexican food in the Kings Inn San Diego. What can you say about it. I ordered the chile relleno plater. Good tasting. Would like a little more cheese in or on top. Rice and beans were good. Not dry or too wet. The star of the meal was warm. Beans and rice were hotter than the Chile relleno. Service was fast, even with other couples and one large group when I was there. The waiter was kind enough to correct me on my order as to which plater I wanted because there were two types of Chile relleno platers. Ambiance was pleasant and not loud. Enough to enjoy music and my meal. Pros: The dish was good. Nice atmosphere to enjoy your meal and the company you are with. Cons: Wish my Chile relleno was just as temperature hot like my rice and beans. Would I go back: If you been following me. I also like to try other things on the menu. So, this one is an maybe. Wouldn't go out of my way.

量大惊人!如图感觉能吃3-4个人。味道的话中规中矩,不会出什么错的选项,就是一个人吃太多了!!!酒吧环境很好,店员也很热情,挺好的,非常amigo!千万不要一个人点这么多!!!!!!!!

This place was a hidden gem for Mexican food! At first, I wondered if the reviews were accurate but they definitely were. It wasn't too crowded and we were able to get situated quickly. Our server was a true gentlemen and did a great job getting us drinks and recommending entrees. The margaritas were so good and their salsa was not spicy but still had flavor. They do tell you they charge 2.95 for a refill of chips and salsa, but we did not need it. We had the fish burrito, chicken fajitas, chicken wings and chicken enchilada dinner. All entrees were delicious and tasted authentic. Also, my husband wanted Chili Colorado but changed his mind and the server brought out a sample of it which was not only a kind gesture but it was so good! For people staying in or around hotel circle and are looking for some good Mexican food, look no further!

Ask for a booth!

For what it is, The Amigo Spot gets 5 stars. What is The Amigo Spot? It is an old-school Mexican restaurant located in the super cool, mid-century King's Inn hotel in Hotel Circle. You turn left inside the neat old hotel lobby and you enter The Amigo Spot. Decor is fun! It's like stepping back in time. Ask for a booth. They are a little more dimly lit, which makes the experience even better. My Enchiladas Suizas was incredible. They make the best green sauce and the cheese they use is perfect. If I were going to get another margarita here, I'd ask that it be made with fresh lime instead of a mix. But everything else we had was in-sane. The chips and salsa are addictive as hell. Cannot wait to go back... over and over again!

The Amigo Spot is located in the pristine mid-century King's Inn in Mission Valley. The building has not been renovated or "refreshed", so it is as if you are back in 1958, which is wonderful. No fake "vintage" here. I like the banquettes for two in the bar when you enter the dining room at The Amigo Spot. The house Margarita is good and only $8.00. The menu is still on a COVID-19 streamline version, so there is a limited selection. We hear they are "working on a new menu", but when will it be revealed? For now, the Pollo "en crema" is acceptable, and the corn tortillas offered with the meal are better than expected. Service by the bartender, Amado [who will take care of you if you sit in the bar area] is exceptionally kind, and he is fun to speak with. He also makes a good after dinner Café Mexicano, with Tequila and Kahlua, topped with whipped cream and served in a clear glass mug with a handle. After dinner, be sure to take a stroll through the King's Inn gardens to the kidney shaped pool surrounded by palms. It is located in a courtyard in the center of the hotel. It has a perfectly mid-century vibe. When I visited this evening, there was a lone swimmer rippling through the waters and the sky was a rosy pink from the sunset. It was absolutely gorgeous!

Excellent food and service. Menu pretty extensive. Came out fast and hot! Fun atmosphere, not very busy when we went.

Mole enchiladas

It's a quite place with fantastic food. The rice was amazingly good. I came on a Friday night around 5:00pm. Staff and the bar tender were all friendly. I had the mole enchiladas with rice and beans.

This place is so cool for celebrating special occasions…read more We celebrated our anniversary and they gave us a candle with our names on it!! So sweet The interior is so cool - very gothic medieval vibes inside!! We tried a couple of items but specifically LOVED the squash blossom and the crab donut and the duck memelita! The fried chicken tacos were pretty good as well Personally I did not love the fondue - comes with corn tortillas on the side - it's not my favorite style Drinks were great - I tried the guava Paloma and liked it a lot but wish it was a bit more sweet more guava flavor

We ordered about six small plates, and they were all delicious and unique. Hard to pick a favorite. I'd say the shrimp tacos were absolutely incredible. Everything else was packed with flavor and very different than anything you will encounter at any other restaurant. It is special. My only complaint is that the place is so dark that you can barely read the menu. Also, being so dark, you can't get a good look at the food or even see color. And I would think that the food is beautifully presented. We are in our 60s. That might have something to do with our inability to see anything in that low light condition. We had to pull our phones out so that we could light up the menu and check out the food we were about to eat. It does make for a dramatic ambience. There are thousands of candles that add to the experience. But I gotta knock them a point because I couldn't see my food or read the menu without help.

Enjoyed the different flavors of ceviche and was a fan of the super crispiness of calamari. My fav was the ahi tuna tostada. The gentleman/waiter handed us the menu and went on his way. Chips and salsa along with waters for the table were brought and then that was when the service of our waiter went downhill. We ordered the ahi tuna and guacamole for our appetizers but the timing for the meal was so off. It was a long wait before the waiter even checked back on us and which is when I asked for a refill on my water and chips. We had order drinks as well. The smoked old fashion was good and the ahi tuna appetizer portion was plentiful. There were some parts of the diced ahi that was a bit chewy. The gaucamole portion was large and it wasn't until I asked another waiter did my refill of water and chips arrive. For entree, we got the scallops with corn cake, a salad and I had the poblano burger. I asked for the burger to be cooked to medium. When the entrees arrived my burger was overcooked with no pink in sight. The flavor of the burger was good but the burger was definitely dry as can be. The corn cake with scallop was interesting it was almost like the corn cake was a croquet that encased a corn salsa. Overall the food was okay but the service left a lot to be desired. The waiter and the end seemed to put up a fake act when the check came. Since we asked for the check it seemed like the waiter was on hyper speed. Overall the view is nice but the food and service did not meet the expectations.

If…read moreyou're stopping in San Diego and want to get a fix on authentic Mexican food, this is definitely the place. The salsa assortment is definitely worth ordering to go with the complimentary basket of chips and the complimentary salsa, because the three in the salsa assortment include very creative flavors, including an avocado-based salsa and a delicious pistachio one, along with one that is spicy enough to suit any palate. The house guacamole is also deliciously creamy and perfectly seasoned with lime. The real knockout dish that I had, though, was the taco with chicken pastor. I'm a big fan of pastor, but this is a very non-traditional preparation of pastor. Instead of being shredded pork mixed with a spicy sauce and hunks of pineapple, this was almost more like a Mexican cordon bleu where the chicken had been amazingly seared in some combination with cheese and pastor spices. It was absolutely delicious. The tacos might seem expensive at $10 apiece, but combined with the obviously house-made corn tortillas, I think they're a bargain. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere is very chill. There's a large outside seating area to enjoy, and San Diego is nearly always perfect weather.
