Carne asada tacos
Cat R.

Food: My cousin and I each ordered tacos and shared so we each got a fish taco and carne asada taco. Both were great and so were the beans and rice! Service: Olivia was our server and she was very nice. Service overall was quick and great. A token per customer is provided for the restrooms across the way. A complimentary photo is taken with option to buy the bigger version for $20. Ambiance: Very nice! Even have a little stage within the restaurant area so it was nice to listen to while eating and just looking around.

Fantastic food . Our server was phenomenal. My margarita was huge, enough for two. Enjoyed my steak fajita. Indoor/outdoor seating with live music. Only negative is bathroom situation. Share a common bathroom for area. Given coin to use. Bathrooms were filthy .

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our dinner. The staff was very friendly! Outside seating was nice! They even sang happy birthday to a guest which was very sweet!! The food was great! We got the following: Irish Coffee - very strong Surf and Turf as a Wet Burrito - 10/10 Tampiquena - 8/10

Casa de Maria is the perfect place to have lunch outdoors in Old Town. It's located just away from the center where it can get very crowded. The staff is dressed in vintage outfits I loved and serviced was great. The food was yummy and we especially loved the house salsa. Alicia León was the entertainment while we ate, her voice is beautiful she sang classic and modern songs in both english and Spanish. Also she danced twrds the end of her set, it was lovely! And their spicy mango margarita is so good, a must to order there.

First time trying this restaurant in old town and it was delicious! We did come on the second day of Dia de Los Muertos, so for a party of two we did wait but it was worth it. The chips and salsa were great. Got a second round and wanted to take some home. I ordered a carne asada and Baja fish taco, both tasted great! The green salsa I asked for on the side was perfect!! My partner ordered the rolled chicken tacos, those were tasty too. She also ordered a mangoñada drink and that hit the spot. Over all, great experience.

Olivia was our waitress and she was absolutely killer. Food and drinks were amazing! I recommend starting off with the shrimp ceviche!

Calamari

We went down to Old Town for the Dio de los Muertos event and stopped here to eat. while the outside seating was nice and refreshing, with lots of shade which was very nice because it was a sunny day. There was nice live music playing out near our seating which saved the whole eating experience. We were seated right away, but it still took over 20 minutes to take our drink and food order. we ordered the fish and chips, calamari, and two enchiladas. All of the food came a once and was over 30 minutes of waiting. All of the food was warm, nothing was hot. The fish and chips and calamari all looked like it was made out of the frozen food section of a supermarket. No sauce option for the fish and chips, and the calamari was rubbery. The enchiladas (one red, one green) tasted very plain with little to no spice or anything to enjoy. The meal came with beans and rice, which the beans were almost solid and the rice was very dull. Lastly, we had to ask a separate waiter for our check because our waiter disappeared after some time. I'm not one to complain a lot about my reviews, but this place was a huge disappointment. I will not return or recommend this place to anyone.

He went to the restroom and us girls went to ours, they're in the same hallway & you have to pass the women's restroom to get to the men's. As I was exiting the girls bathroom he walked directly past me and I trailed behind him, then all of a sudden I hear one of the girl bartenders ask him to leave because she said she saw him exit the women's restroom. She was LOUD & reactive, like she was 100% sure she saw that, she grabbed 2 of the security guards & asked to get him out because she saw him come out of the girls restroom. WHICH WAS A LIE!! It was humiliating & if she would've just ran back the cameras she would see that is absolutely NOT what happened. It was unprofessional, ridiculous,& tasteless. I get you have to be aware in these situations but she was SO WRONG in this particular instance I was appalled. Therefore if the manager or owner would like to run back tapes on January 30th around 12 am, they will see he did not exit the women's bathroom. I really hope there's some type of repercussions for type of accusation.

My husband and I are sucker for divey spots and the Old Town Saloon looked EXACTLY like our vibe. It definitely was a cool spot and not sticky or on the dirty side like a lotta dives, but still had that classic dive feel to it. We had different bartenders both days we came, and both of them were great. Not too talkative but still really nice and quick to get our drink orders. Like most of Old Town, the Old Town Saloon is themed to fit the rest of the area. They have TouchTunes here so you can play plenty of music, and also at least one pool table (I only saw one, not sure if there were more around the corner). Only "downside" is that they don't have any food here, but you're allowed to bring food in (which we did from a local vendor). If you're in the area it's definitely worth it to stop in for a drink or two - we could've spent all day here and would definitely stop in again when we're back in town.

Located in Old Town San Diego, we had dinner at a restaurant within walking distance from Oculto. I parked for free on the street and made a reservation day of. It's a pretty small speakeasy so if you're going on a weekend, you're probably going to have to make a reservation in advance. Ambiance (4.5/5): Oculto has the seven deadly sins theme going which is pretty cool. I've been to a similar speakeasy in St. Pete, Florida. Once you arrive at the mezcal bar that houses Oculto, check in with the host, and he will bring you to a "confessional." There, you must confess one of the seven deadly sins before the door to the speakeasy is opened for you. Naturally, I went with "lust." Once you get inside, it's a charming speakeasy. Service (2.5/5): This is one of the areas that leaves a little to be desired. There was only one bartender working when I was there. Since speakeasies have elevated cocktails, service was quite slow. They definitely needed two bartenders there to speed up the process. They also have a two-drink minimum which I was annoyed about on principle. I often have multiple drinks at a bar, but I never feel like I'm forced to do it. Food (N/A): I'm not sure if they have food, I don't believe they do. Regardless, I was on a liquid diet. Drinks (4/5): Pretty interesting menu of craft cocktails. When I'm at a speakeasy, I look for unique drinks that have an interesting combination of ingredients and flavor profiles. In addition to a nice list, they also have a dealer's choice cocktail where you can tell the bartender what you're into and they will craft a custom cocktail for you based on your taste. Another cool thing about Oculto is that it's located next to the cemetery in Old Town. That adds to the spooky theme.

I knew it was a speakeasy but he did not. I was trying to double-check on my phone that Craft & Commerce was the right restaurant its housed in (yes) when he tried to jet set off down the block "to keep looking" rather than listen to me. I yelled, "MOTHER!" by accident and then he did truly leave me hahaha. He resurfaced a few minutes later, and then we walked in. It was 5:15 at the time, so 15 minutes after opening. I had NO IDEA how popular this spot was, nor anything about its nation-wide reputation. I actually didn't know that until two days ago when a Yelp-friend at home here in Richmond, Virginia, exclaimed excitedly when I told her we stopped in. The host who greeted us was kind, informed us there had been a line to get in that day, but that they had one barrel left; we jumped on it of course. It was happy hour, so the first cocktail I ordered was dirt cheap at $9. It was the Imperial Hawaiian with gin, rum, lemon, pineapple, and orgeat. I really shouldn't have ordered a second drink after that one, but I did have the classic Saturn later on in the night and it was absurdly good! Definitely my favorite of the two. The moody tiki vibe was so cool and fun. They even had frogs you could play on the tables. We had some fun neighbors too, which livened up the experience even more. We had a great time and both walked out heavily buzzed. We were asleep by 8 that night, but it was worth it!

Once inside seating is first come first served so the place is insanely crowded with people trying to get drinks. Service is a little confusing as the waiters will come up to you with a menu asking for your order instead of an order at the bar type of thing. Once we actually got a seat things were okay. The menu is mostly rum drinks since this is a rum bar however since I'm not the biggest fan I ordered the only thing with tequila on the menu. My drink was actually really good, it was refreshing, not too sweet or strong at all. I just wish there would be more variety.

It was so underwhelming I didn't even want to take a picture. The tator tots were awesome! Perfect crunch and spice....so flavorful! The women's bathroom is a little strange and quite frankly a waste. Two toilets set up side by side like how urinals are. This only works if 2 close friends are in there.
