I travel to St. Louis intermittently for work, and after a long day of meetings, networking, and team building, you get back to your hotel room and you just need to eat a damn sandwich. Amighetti's scratches that itch and then some. I've only ever ordered delivery from this location so far, but every time it's been perfect. This is a sandwich for serious sandwich-eaters: the Special, packed with meats, plenty of (free) toppings, the right amount of vinegary dressing, and delivered with care. I added a bottle of local root beer to my order and it came very thoughtfully packed in a protective cardboard box. My only criticism is the cole slaw comes in such a tiny container -- but it's likely what you'd expect if you were picking up your work of art from the counter in a basket. My fiancé told me about her dad eating this in her childhood, so when we saw the sign for this off the freeway near mercy St. Louis hospital, we HAD to go. The guy at the counter was funny, nice, and a cool vibe. The lady behind the counter was just as delightful. I loved the amighetti's special- that bread though! Wow! I got so full off of the brussels, fried cheese rav (not very full of cheese- mostly hollow- would not order those again), and the half special sub. I left very full! After a day of Christmas cookie baking with my daughter, I was in no mood to cook dinner and was craving tortellini Alfredo. I know Amighetti's has delicious sandwiches but I had no idea that their pasta was so good. I actually had no idea that they served pasta at all. The pick 2 menu is phenomenal and reasonably priced. I ordered the tortellini Alfredo with cheese tortellini and a side special salad and it was very filling and delicious. My daughter also ordered the t-ravs but said they were mid; pretty hollow and tasted burnt. I can't comment on it since I didn't try it. The ease of online ordering was a bonus. The server was wonderful, our toast beef sandwich amazing. Dest bread and roast beef was tasty. The only downside was the music was loud AND continually shorting out, making it extremely annoying. We ended up sitting outside next to the traffic which was much calmer than inside, listening to music coming off on and off on off. Seems like a simple fix to me something shorting out and it turned the music off or get it fixed. Or maybe the strategies to do that to drive everybody to leave and eat elsewhere read more

Fantastic turkey sandwich. I'm a Moms Deli fan til I die but this hits the spot in the same way. The way they shave the onions and lettuce make it so much better. I like the special sauce a lot and it doesn't just taste like mayo mixed with something. It comes with a lot of meat. The turkey is basically the Amighettis special without pork. There's the perfect bite of pepperoncinis that really does give a nice salty crunch to the sandwich. The bread is also made by them and is fluffy and delicious. I get it with every topping which I recommend. I've gotten it to go often and it always hits the spot. read more

This is a STL classic place that you have to watch what you order since there are some really good and then some things like the Tomato bisque and it just did not look good nor taste good apparently. I got the Meatball 1/2 sandwich and lasagna and they were both good! I think for 20 bucks it needed bigger meatballs. Lasagna excellent taste and super chzy!! On Aug 19 25 I visited Amaghettis for lunch w my mom. Not only did we order specifically what we wanted, due to her allergies, we had to wait almost 30 minutes for our sandwiches!? We did not eat there as we had errands. Upon returning home we discovered that our entire $23 order was wrong! I Immediately called, asked for a mgr., Not available. The retail associate tried to help me, could not, handed it off to another associate, she listened and told me she had to talk to her owner and would definitely call me back, I was not looking for money back, but our correct order. Today is Aug 26th and no return phone call. I miss the orig on the hill. Sad that customer serv has fallen short. We will not return, nor will we recommend. My parents and I friend to eat there a few days ago. There was a glare on the menus screens so I was trying to help my mom navigate that. There was one person behind us and we told him to go ahead we would be a minute. The cashier was very rude and impatient about us taking some time stating more than once that she had other work to be doing. Came in on a Friday afternoon, it was empty. The young lady at the register greeted us immediately and was super helpful and patient while I decided on what to order! She told me how the special was the most popular and it was listed the menu as "world famous" she also let me try their signature spread; it was like a mix between mayo and pickle relish, creamy and tangy but it was good. I opted for the "build your own," with turkey, salami and ham. I got my daughter the grilled cheese sandwich kids meal. My sandwich was BEAUTIFULLY PRESENTED; stacked perfectly, ingredients very fresh. But the sandwich itself was nothing to write home about. Literally just... a sandwich. The sauce was barely there, so it was just cold meats and cheese in each bite. I could have gotten the same sandwich from dierbergs or Jimmy John's or something for about $5 cheaper. Maybe I should have gotten it on the garlic cheese bread or something? Idk. But I was not all that impressed. The bread was also soft and fresh, I did enjoy that too. Today I ordered the loaded special sandwhich with pepper jack cheese and it was delicious. It is a big sandwich that is fairly priced. I also had the toasted ravioli and they were good but could have been better. I always look forward to having them when I'm in St. Louis so these hit the spot but remember them being better. Super crispy but could have had more flavor. We also tried the garlic bread and it could have been a little more crispy for my liking. The service was good but took awhile to come out. Plenty of seating inside and out and they also offer curbside pick up. If you're looking for a good a sandwich I'd highly recommend this place. read more

The special Italian was pretty good. The bread is a little crispier, but it had a good flavor and all of the meat and veggies were fresh. They put an Amighetti's special sauce on it, but it was really light and I couldn't taste it. Pepperoncinis gave it a little kick. 8/10 The roast beef was pretty flavorful. It comes on garlic cheese bread with a brown gravy on top. My only complaint was that they didn't give you enough meat for the bread and gravy portions. 7/10 read more

The facility itself is old and worn, the workers mediocre, and the food very lacking in taste and flavor. Food is SO good here! Always get the Amighetti's Special but their labeling method sucks! Let's say you want a sandwich without sauce and a second one without peppers. You get your takeaway order, get home, open it up. You'd think that the one with sauce would be labeled "sauce". But no. What they do is put a very tiny minus sign in front of the word "sauce" which is supposed to mean "minus sauce." But if you look at it, you assume it says "sauce" and it's the one with sauce. The girl in the glasses proved to be very rude and very grumpy. as well as the one with the longer brown hair, we got yelled at and had to wait an extremely long time for food that turned out cold. we were also charged for an extra cheesecake whereas looking in the bag, there was only one cheesecake to be found. overall, the atmosphere was uncomfortable and the judgmental teenagers serving us proved to be very rude and give a very uncomfortable environment to not only me but other customers in the store as well. Update: After going in to receive a refund for the cheesecake we did not receive she then gave me 6.05 instead of the 13.09 the cheesecake cost. Overall the service was rude and snippy besides the nice girl with brown curls. The service felt hostile and malicious and i didn't even get a refund in a cheesecake i never bought. This is a long overdue review. Amighetti's is back and better than ever. At 51 years old, one of my favorite Saturday afternoon trips with my dad was going to the Hill to pick up a Special in the bag and Vess soda in the 80's. It was my favorite sandwich. Moving back to St Louis I was excited to see it in a strip center in Rock Hill. I tried it and it wasn't what I had in my memory as a kid. Saw they moved locations. This pandemic hit and thought why not try it and support the local small business. Man... it's better than the memory. Anthony has done an amazing job with the quality and the service. Not overdone, just perfectly toasted with a generous quantity of thinly sliced beef and cheese topped with gravy. It was super good. I was allowed to sample the meatballs sandwich too and while good, my choice was the Italian beef. Nice cold soda and outdoor dining made for a great start to the afternoon.
