This is what the eating area looks like, with tables along one wall.

Giuseppe's is an easy place to visit if close to I-70 or driving along I-44 in and around the Saint Louis metro area. It is the newer lunch and catering wing of a long standing Giuseppe's with roots in the city proper. This location has pushed over into the next tenant space, making for a more generous dining room with good natural lighting in which to eat a hearty lunch. The original part remains and French doors take you into this larger eating area. They have done some rearranging with the lunch specials. In the short time in this area, I was able to try the Monday lunch special, which was lasagna. Thus, lunch consisted of lasagna, a St. Louis salad (chosen from among three offered), and a refillable soft drink. The lasagna made for a robust and tasty lunch, but, like most Italian-American lasagnas, the pasta has the thicker layers and there is perhaps too much sauce for my taste. I came back the following day to try the chicken brochettes which sounded delicious based on how they described them to me. I didn't get there in time and they had sold out of this lunch special choice. In all fairness, they told me to call ahead so they can set an order of it aside. Giuseppe's off the interstate in Fenton is still a solid lunch choice and a good value. You can see which days of the week interest you the most. (Gosh darn, that Friday white fish special with au gratin potatoes they once had was something I still dream about.) Also, the employees are cordial, the expanded location is a pleasant space in which to eat lunch, there is plenty of parking right in front, and it's squeaky clean.

    Penne Siciliano - delicious!

Discovered this darling gem following a visit to the Fenton industrial park area thanks to their sandwich boards on street corner. It's a storefront in a nondescript strip mall but the inside is pretty cute. Counter service to place your order & they bring it to your table. Portions are so large they serve it in lidded to go containers so you can take some home! The penne siciliano was delicious and frankly better & more flavorful & quality than the dinner I had on The Hill last night. Pink sauce with sausage & huge great mushrooms & fresh basil on top! Friendly service from Debbie (counter & table server). The owner, Eric, was working away, too. This restaurant was in south city on Grand at Meramec since since 1927 until 3 years ago. Made it through the pandemic & opened the adjacent bay for additional seating! They still have regular customers from the original location that drive 17miles west to dine or carryout; they offer large catering and family size dinners, as well. I love the generational history & the electric sign from the original storefront on the wall inside. Stop in - you won't be disappointed with the quality of the food or service!

I really wanted the Philly cheese steak, but they were out of the beef and I wasn't feeling chicken. My son ordered the breakfast sandwich on a bagel with ham. There's no pic because he inhaled it and asked when I was going back. I settled for the gyro and was glad I did. There was so much meat on it, I'll add to a salad for another meal! The flavor was like nothing I've tasted before...so delicious! I'll definitely go back to try other sandwiches and make the rest of my family try it. It looks like an old 7-11 and you aren't eating inside, but don't let the looks deter you. A piece of advice I got...order online or call in the order so you get the freshest ingredients.

I will say the gyro is fantastic and they don't skip out on the veggies and sauce. It all comes on a pita which I don't really prefer for a gyro. I think a naan that is a bit thicker would be a perfect fit for this gyro. Besides that, I really like the reuben too. It's stacked high and comes with a nice toasted marble rye (I love a marbled rye!). Recently, I have been getting the gyro salad and I just love that there is a mountain of veggies AND a good amount of the gyro meat. The folks working there are always kind, the food is consistent and they are fast and clean.

First, I love that this is a locally family owned and run Busines. We tried the Zach and the Meatball sandwich. The Zach was packed with turkey, cheese and pesto. The Meatball sandwich is honestly one of the Top 10 Meatball sandwiches in STL! It truly highlights the famous Vitale Sauce/Gravy recipe! One bit and you can feel the love and the time and effort it takes to simmer all day. Definitely will return soon!!

One Saturday I took my kids to Kirkwood park and decided to stop in at Vitale's on the way home. I'm so glad that I did! The shop isn't anything fancy, there is a counter inside and then a handful of tables outside. It is primarily a to go joint which is pretty standard for delis. It gives off the vibe that you should just stroll up from the neighborhood and grab something to eat, chat for a while with other locals, and then head home. It has a nice, no frills vibe that I really enjoyed. The sandwiches are pretty typical for an Italian Deli with most of them featuring variations of lunchmeat. I'm always a sucker for meatball sandwiches though so that is what I got with a side of chips. It was outstanding. The meatballs were GIANT and they were the right texture. It was large enough that I had to split it across two meals. The owner was really nice when I was inside and talked to both of my kids. My kids were so well behaved they convinced me to buy them a cannoli on the way out the door. Over this shop fills its niche well, the shop was clean, the staff was friendly, and the food was good. I'll be stopping back in again in the near future.

Unfortunately, there wasn't anything remarkable about our experience. The deli was... charming, but very, very old. There didn't seem to be AC and the box fans were not really doing much. We ordered our food to-go after seeing the inside. I ordered the Monty sandwich, a toasted roast beef sandwich with salami as well. The meat tasted rather low-quality and the sandwich was overly chewy. My mom's Westwood Sandwich, a chicken salad on croissant, was slightly better but nothing to write home about. The prices were great, and it's always nice to support a local business, but we would probably not give this place our business again.

All sandwiches come with a pickle spear and small bag of chips. The flavors were nice and fresh, with great taste! About $9 each and a good size. We sat and ate at the counter and read about the history of the building. Next time I want to get some of the side salads to try. The service was a bit odd, as there were 4 people behind the sandwich counter and 1 at the front/store register. The 4 folks were all talking to each other and didn't notice us for a bit. The guy who took the order seemed a bit upset and didn't really talk much. He sent me up front to pay and then said to come back in 5 min for the food. After a few minutes I came back and the other folks helped find the order. They were both very friendly, and helpful. Must have just caught the first guy in a bad moment. Is it a place for date night? No. It is worth going there and grabbing lunch to eat outside on a nice day? Hard "YES"! Great food at a good value and a local place, can't ask for much more than that!

You have to make a really sharp right turn immediately after entering the parking lot and it's a one-way street so watch carefully while pulling in. The pictures make it look a lot bigger than it is. It's very small and informal on the inside, but room for a small handful of eat-in guests. Very cute interior and a nice case with desserts and some other stuff so you can make impulse purchases when you see how mouth-watering it all looks. They also had a cold case with some stuff to take home to cook. We ordered a berliner (beef), a gyro (beef), and a chicken panini. Online ordering was easy and they had a window for special instructions so I was able to make small customizations (no onion, etc.). Food was ready at pickup time and they handed my food in a reusable bag, so props for minimizing waste plastic. The berliner was my favorite. I loved the fresh "salad" filling and the spicy sauce, and it seemed less messy and easier to eat thank a gyro. Downside was that it was a little cold with all the salad, but the meat was still a little warm. The gyro was traditional and fantastic, and the meat they use is better than the industrial "gyro meat" from most places (not that I'm complaining about that, I love that too). Very messy with the tzatziki and feta, but still much warmer than the berliner. I ordered the chicken panini with no onion for a kid so I am sure I missed out on some flavor. It was good but I think it would be even better with the onion and with maybe one of their sauces on the side for dipping. It was great for the family member who wants a more "american" sandwich. Chicken was super flavorful and the cheese was really yummy, and it was even great cold the next day. All sandwiches came with bagged ridged potato chips, and I don't think I noticed any other options on the menu. They were good chips but just regular bagged chips. I would have loved to see a side of one of their salads as an option. I added a baklava to my order when I saw them in the case but I didn't get any because my kids ate it. They said it was great. I really liked J's and plan to go again. I would love to try some of the more unique menu option, but it will be hard to pass up that berliner.

As always, the food is simply delicious. What really pissed me off? Upon leaving, I asked for a container to take most of it home because it was too much to eat. The young woman served me a brown cardboard wax-coated box to dump everything in. She said, "Will this do?" No bag to carry it home or prevent the 2 oz. Soufflé cup Olive Oil, and partially full- 2 oz. Soufflé cup of Tzatziki. I asked if I could get an extra 2 oz. portion of Tazatziki. The young woman looked at me rudely and as if she would be terribly inconvenienced, she said "We charge extra for that!" I replied "Just FORGET it!" She was very attentive to a table of females behind me who were obnoxiously loud! I regret I left her a tip after spending $40.00 + for lunch. Your To-go orders include very fancy packaging in orange bag, oversized white plastic bag. I'm a sure an extra 2.0 oz portion of Tazatziki wouldn't break your piggy bank and cost a helluva lot less. Truly disappointing snd pathetic. If you want similar, delicious cuisine and nicer service, spend your money at Balkin Treat Box. At least you won't be rudely, mistreated by arrogant, lazy "Millennial" wait-staff.
