The good: excellent downtown location and plenty of space for dining inside and outside; recently renovated since my last visit. The Lemoncello drink was reported as really good but in a small amount for the glass it was served. The Old Fashioned was just okay, not concocted with bitters and simple syrup. Dinner salad was good. The eggplant Parmesan was good and better with the marinara. The Tuta mare was just okay and I know that I will never order again. I ordered the small margherita pizza. The first thing I noticed was all the grease on top of the pizza which was unappetizing. The pizza arrived hot which was nice. This pizza and a lot more cheese than other Margherita pizzas I've ordered in the past. This pizza also had diced tomatoes versus thin slices of the tomato which I also prefer. I do not leave bad reviews for places but I find it necessary to leave this one. I have been going here for 40 years and have not been for here for a couple of years. I brought a friend yesterday bragging about the food and we were so disappointed. It has to be the worst food I have ever gotten there. The breaded chicken breast looked and tasted like thin Great Value patties from Wal-Mart. The white sauce was lumpy and tasted like bland biscuit and gravy, gravy. My friends sauce in her dish was very watery and not creamy or thick at all and was way to sweet for a white wine sauce. Also, our food was barely room temperature. I don't know if Joe is still in the picture but he never ever served food like this in the past years. I found myself in Eureka at lunch time. There's a lot to be said about a place that smells good from outside!! The vibe is traditional Italian restaurant. The team seated us quickly and took good care of us. The menu is fairly extensive and honestly there is something for everyone. The cooler weather has me craving comfort foods. Pasta in a rich red sauce was exactly what I needed. I went with the cannelloni and a side salad. The house dressing was not a favorite. A little too much bite from the vinegar. The creamy Italian dressing was perfect. I was served a generous plate of pasta and sauce with bread so not to miss a single bit of sauce. The meal was reminiscent of some of the places on The Hill. I hadn't been to a Joe Boccardi's location in years. My friend and I stopped in on a Friday evening for a quick dinner on the way out to my farm. We both ordered salads and shared a pepperoni and bacon pizza with extra sauce. It was all great. The pizza is thin and crisp and the toppings were plentiful, especially the bacon. We were in the area so decided to try something new. This restaurant is nicely decorated and gives all the Italian restaurant vibes down to parmesan cheese on the tables. Menu is standard with lots of tasty options. We knew they had thin crust pizza and opted to share one. We ordered the Joe's Special which is similar to a supreme. Hubby added on a side caesar salad and we also ordered a 6 count toasted ravioli for an appetizer. They offer a bread basket with butter and that arrived first. The bread was cold as if from the fridge and so was the butter. It was okay but nothing exciting. Note that there was also oil on the table in case you want to dip the bread. Hubby reports that the caesar salad was very good with a nice dressing. Toasted ravs were good, but the meat sauce served with them was cold as if from the fridge. I would expect it to be warm. Though I must call out that the plating of them was fabulous! The pizza was average. I didn't love it and expected more. This pizza has hamburger, pepperoni, onion, green pepper and mushroom. We were surprised the mushroom didn't appear fresh though the other ingredients did. I also ordered a side of ranch to dip my pizza in but it was terrible sadly... I didn't even end up using it after tasting it. If you've read any of my reviews you know I appreciate a good ranch and use it a lot. Our service was amazing! Our server answered questions I had, was friendly and stayed on top of drink refills and checking on us. We really enjoyed it. I will point out when Hubby ordered his caesar salad he asked if they offered it in a small size and she said yes and that's what he received. We were also charged appropriately for it. A bit later customers behind us with a different waitress asked for the same thing and the waitress told them no it only comes in full size... so there may be difference experiences with different staff... or maybe a training opportunity here. While on a Rt. 66 X-country Trip, we suffered a breakdown in our 1930 Ford. So we had to eat close to our hotel. Luckily we found this wonderful Italian restaurant. It is located just off the main street and the blended exterior is a bit deceiving. Inside it has a open and comfortable interior. The staff greeted us and we were promptly seated. Our server, Chanelle, was excellent. She was quick, attentive and took great care of us. I had the Chicken Carbonaro with shells and white sauce. Delicious. We ended up staying in the area due to car breakdown but this establishment made it a little easier to take. If you are cruising through Eureka on Rt. 66, check this place out. read more

Well I want to start off with the service...it wasn't BAD, but it should've been better. I got refills and stuff but it wasn't very hospitable. No smiles. No "thank you" or any personality. As for the food, VERY bland. Tasted watered down. Honestly I think a jar of store bought sauce would taste better. It's especially disappointing because the price point is pretty high for such low quality food. My pasta con broccoli was $16.50. As for the atmosphere of the restaurant...it's not bad but again, just not worth it at all. We always love Joe's and get take out from the Fenton location regularly. We ventured out to the Eureka location for a family birthday dinner and as usual were not disappointed. We always get the Joe's special pizza. It is so good!! We can get the same toppings from other places but it is not at all the same. I also love their chicken parm. It comes with a nice size side salad and a giant side of pasta. They put their meat sauce on the chicken Parmesan which is a nice change and is so tasty. The Eureka location is still the best, in my opinion. I've been coming here since the late 70's as a little girl with my parents. It's nostalgic. The place has an old world charm about it and the service is always stellar. I just love this place. Admittedly, I've always been a sucker for good Italian food, but the pizza here has is my go to. That crust. It's just so perfectly thin and crispy. And the sauce, it's seasoned so well and has such good flavor. The pizza here has been consistently wonderful for over 40 years. The perfect balance of toppings and cheese. I should mention that the toasted raviolis and pasta carbonara are also wonderful choices, but it's the pizza that keeps me coming back. read more

Had the seafood a la vodka - the cream was good - the baby shrimp were... well baby shrimp. The portion sizes were underwhelming. With that said, I wasn't totally dissatisfied with the pasta dish. The pizza was, however, cracker thin and I don't believe worth the $14 they charge. It's jarred pasta sauce, I added chicken and it was very obviously the frozen 'grilled chicken' strips with grill marks painted on them, mushy noodles. Very disappointing experience. A friend was eating a pizza and got a big piece of something , lodged between his tooth and gum. I asked the hostess for help with anything like a tweezers, but she was not helpful and went on about her business. Another friend had to pull it out with a tool from his car and when we showed the piece which looked like a splinter of wood she just insisted it was oregano from the pizza. Well. Today my family got together here and It was a nice time. We had 16 people in our party so we made sure to make a reservation and good thing we did because for a Tuesday they were packed. They had our tables set up like a L, which wasn't the best. It made it so some of us had our backs to everyone else, but not that big of a deal. Service was quick and efficient. They also came back and checked on the table often for refills, etc. I can't remember the exact name of my pasta, but it was meat tortellini with peas, mushrooms, and white sauce. It was okay, but only bc of the meat in the pasta. The pasta was pretty doughy still, and the white sauce didn't have much taste. My mother ordered Fettuccine Tuta Mare and couldn't even eat it. We had a penne with shrimp and a pizza, the penne sauce was good but the shrimp were just ok, it would have been better if we just ordered chicken as the protein. I liked the pizza, crust was delightfully thin and crispy. I didnt care for the amount of cheddar cheese - they could just remove the cheddar and it would have been better. Being one of a very few restaurant choices in Eureka, 6 of us went for lunch. We had all been there many times before. Our waitress, who all recognized as having been working there "forever" was obviously having a bad day. In fact, one of our party mentioned before ordering that we should be careful because she was "scary". She was curt, unresponsive to our questions and even argumentative about items on the menu. She gave us bare minimum service, mentioning several time that she was "too busy". Quaint, yet kitschy decor. Food was decent and came out promptly, but our server never returned to check in on us after our food dropped. This was frustrating as my wife and I wanted more wine and refills on our water -- we'd spent the day in the sun and we're thirsty. We watched our server run several plates of food over the course of 30 minutes without even glancing in our direction. Fed up, we asked a hostess to get our servers attention so we could pay. She said our server would be there soon, but she never came. After 15 minutes (yeah I was literally watching the clock in frustration here), I asked the hostess if she could tell us how much we owed so we could leave cash. The hostess dropped the check off without so much as an apology for the wait. I mean I understand it was busy, but dropping a check off takes all of 30 seconds and our server couldn't even do that? Honestly an apology for the wait at that point would have turned it all around... anyway. So we leave the cash -- admittedly sans 62¢ to make a point -- and left. Outside we felt so frustrated that the wife decided to go back inside to talk to a manager and lo and behold our server had already collected our cash... funny that she had time to pick up our money, but none to drop of the check herself. She immediately accused my wife of shorting her $10 we didn't... we did short her ¢62 so she made a big show to count the money in front everyone and realized she was wrong and then rudely got defensive about how busy it was. Wife asked for a manager so he came over but had zero concern for our frustration once again "because they were busy" and we "already ate and paid." He offered a dessert after wife asked for him to do anything for us, but at that point she didn't even care so she left. To keep it simple... if there's a wait, don't bother. They can't handle it, and the food isn't good enough to justify their poor service and defensive arguing when we brought it up. read more

We arrived and were seated very quickly. Super good and quick service. I ordered a drink and it had a extremely strange taste (it's the tap water used). I was not to happy with the taste however I continued to eat. I had some bread that was not fantastic however not bad. I don't think they filter the water and I'm disappointed in it.
