A facelift and a new name. We used to come here when it was a different sushi restaurant. Ami is a strange mixture of a no frills sushi restaurant with a mildly upscale sports bar vibe. Has some limited street parking, & a lot around back with a path to walk through to get to the front. Friendly staff, two levels, & they had a DJ playing 90's mashups while we were there. They DO serve alcohol on-site. Food was just Ok to me. Grade: Tuna Tataki: B+ Crazy Tuna Roll: B- Kani Salad: D Lychee Martini: B+ read more

If I could give Ami 10 stars, I would! I've been hosting events at Ami for the past year, and each one has been better than the last. Last Thursday evening, we hosted a Psychic & Sushi Fundraiser benefiting TheraYouth Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic services to underserved children. The Ami team--including one of the owners, Siu, along with Grace, Zion, Connor, and many others--did an outstanding job serving nearly 90 attendees. The buffet was absolutely amazing, featuring edamame, gyoza, a variety of maki rolls, fried rice and noodles. Everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how great the food was! Working with Siu to customize a menu that fit our budget was seamless. She is professional, accommodating, and truly a pleasure to work with. Guests also had the option to order from the regular menu and enjoy drinks from the bar, which made the evening even more enjoyable. If you're looking to host a small event in a beautiful restaurant with exceptional food and outstanding service, I highly recommend Ami. They consistently exceed expectations, and I look forward to hosting many more events there! read more

Good quality food, wide variety and selection of items to choose from. However, the portions were a bit small for the price. Everything I wanted to change (ex. Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice to Spicy Salmon Crispy Rice) was extra charge, though the waiter did not give notice. Other than that, they also had a wide variety of sushi to choose from. I came here during lunch time, so it was not too busy, though there was only one waiter serving everyone. I will say the Tuna Tataki was extremely small for the price (I believe it is ~$15). I would've rather just ordered a few pieces of Tuna Sashimi at that point, but was nice to try. Other than that, the sushi was great. They were very generous with their tobiko on some of their rolls, and was very filling. However, one of the rolls was a bit big, and not made the best, as it was falling apart as I was eating it..LOL! For the parking lot, you have to head to the back of the building (by the train station) for parking. It is pretty small, so if you're coming on a busier night, you may need to look for additional parking. There is no street parking by the front of the restaurant. It was raining the day I went, but it also seems like they have a nice patio for dine in. read more

Holy mackerel! I ordered takeout and just tried a few things, but they had me hooked! The Sashimi Deluxe delivered 5 kinds of super fresh fish along with a tasty miso soup. The Ben Ben Roll brought a bright, refreshing mix of tuna, yellowtail, white tuna, salmon, and mango. But the Matrix Roll stole the show with bold flavors of spicy tuna, white tuna, salmon, avocado, kani, masago, and seaweed. Sushi this good at home? Yes. This spot is fin-omenal! ;) read more

Was very impressed with this place when I stopped by for lunch early on a Sunday. The restaurant is very big, there's a huge seating area downstairs, they have additional seating upstairs and there's outdoor seating as well. There is also a dedicated parking lot behind the building. Everything looks updated and clean, very nice aesthetic. The staff was very nice and attentive the whole time. They have a decent sized menu, not the biggest selection of rolls I've seen but enough variety that there should be something for everyone. As a vegetarian there were a handful of options for me as well, but I wouldn't mind seeing more. There were pretty standard, avocado roll, cucumber roll, sweet potato roll etc. The most interesting roll I was avocado/peanut so I'd love to see a little more experimentation with the veggie rolls. That being said the rolls were very good and nothing disappointed. Extremely reasonably priced as well and during the week there are lunch specials where you can get 2 rolls plus a soup or salad for $14. (You can do more rolls as well I just can't quite remember the increased pricing). Overall a very nice sushi spot that I would be happy to come back to. read more

Beautiful space and very friendly staff. We enjoyed our entrees and felt the portions were just right. They have a small bar with enough of a good selection for cocktails. Definitely a place I'd go back to. read more

Lovely new addition in town! We've only had takeout, so cannot comment on service or the vibe. So far, everything we've tried has been great. The fish is fresh, the rolls are not overly complicated, noodles and gyoza are tasty. We're happy to have this option right here locally. Hope they stick around. read more

The upstairs bar and lounge is steps away from the train station for excellent sushi & various bites and beer. The staff is great in making you feel at home. read more

The service and atmosphere was great, super fun looking place, but there's a big problem. I go to restaurants for the food, and Ami's sushi was lacking severely. By no exaggeration it's the worst sushi I've had the experience of eating. My group ordered a ramen, a sushi platter, and a sashimi platter. To start with a positive, the tonkotsu ramen was tasty and it had a nice balance of flavors. Now, I'm not sure if maybe it was just a bad day but the texture of the tuna was like mushy, grainy gel. The salmon didn't fare much better as it had an uncomfortably soft and mushy mouth feel. In addition, the sushi rice was on the warm side. The most disappointing though was the flavor, totally absent and none of the sushi had the slight savory/umami taste that I've come to expect in good fish. (Sushi making side note: preparing the fish usually involves a brine that enhances the taste and texture of the meat. My guess is that maybe this step was skipped, but I honestly have no clue what they did to that fish) When my group left, we all had to debrief about how bizarre the sushi was. I don't want to be mean spirited in any way, our server was very attentive and the manager/owner also checked in with us while we dined. I just cannot in good faith recommend this place to anyone from my own experience. Atmosphere & Staff: 4.5/5 Ramen: 3.5/5 Sushi: 1/5 Sashimi: 0/5 read more

This place was AMAZING! Everything was so delicious. Every single bite had interesting flavors, perfect texture, beautifully presented, melting in my mouth. Very nice selection of interesting specialty cocktails. We had some warm sake as well. The service was very friendly. A change for the better from the previous ownership for sure! Highly recommend this spot! read more

Service is amazing, food is delectable. The ambiance is welcoming and staff is friendly and accommodating. The Chicken Fried Rice was probably the most amazing fried rice I have had in my entire life. Asahi roll was super fresh and beautifully presented. The staff was also super accommodating and made my mom a steamed shrimp and cucumber roll, even though it wasn't strictly on the menu. Awesome time all around, and I would highly recommend coming here for great sushi. read more

Excellent service, delicious food, welcoming host, and cozy place. We arrived late on a Saturday night, kitchen was about to close but they accommodated us (2 people). We ordered a fried calamari, steak teriyaki, rainbow, dragon, kama kazi, & midori roll. Everything was fresh and tasty. Wish we took pictures but too hungry. Highly recommended! Will be visiting again if in the area. read more

Best service and food. Great place to go. Comfortable seating. Great cocktails. So happy to find this place.

I had such a wonderful experience @ AMI . The food was absolutely delicious! A couple of dishes are definitely must order every time I go- Hamchi, Asahi rolls and spicy tuna crispy rice! read more

No wasabi with my sashimi! Sashimi sliced haphazardly! And ordered spicy tuna roll with avocado and crunch and no crunch added. Threw half my money away. What a waste! read more

We really enjoyed this. Loved the play on 90's culture. I ordered a Black Hole Sun and it was a new, delicious take on a classic cocktail. We ordered a variety of rolls and sushi, all of it was fresh and delicious. The service was fantastic too. Would be happy if this place was in my neighborhood! read more

Portions are just really small for the price. I feel like the sushi is for children. The rolls are just tiny and the sashimi is like 40% smaller than other places. Service is lovely and the inside is very nice but the price for what you get is dismal. Haven't tried any hot food. Been twice and not going back. read more

Every bite was delicious! Super impressed with the creativity of the Special rolls and the Ami Omakase. The NYC sushi chef absolutely shines here. Chef brought out his selection of the freshest sushi and our server recommended the Lychee Martini which was outstanding. Everyone was so friendly and the restaurant had a great vibe. Highly recommend! read more

So excited to have a yummy, fresh and clean sushi restaurant in town! Prior to this opening the closest we could find was all the way in Madison. Give it a try, it's great! read more

The owners are new and the menu has a few more interesting things that you usually don't find on a locally oriented sushi spot. Had a bit of pretty good yellowtail scallion roll , vegetable roll which is more like futomaki, fried oysters and the negimaki- the latter two of which were particularly good at the bar upstairs the other night, the location of which was a good divey Tikki Bar my social clan used to hang out at. The new owners cleaned up that bar area nicely; however, if they plan to make anything of it, they need to make the hours much later during the week ( currently closing time is 9;30 PM) and at least a couple of hours more on weekends ( presently 11PM). I will come back to try more of the food, but the bar - where I prefer to eat - is unlikely to last without increasing the evening hours. read more

"Do yourself a favor and dine at this establishment, Ami. The staff are professional and courteous. Management is attentive and personable. Food is so fresh and delicious. Quality and creativity of each dish is as good as any high end Japanese restaurant in Manhattan or LA. My friends and I had a great time there. Will be back many times. Highly recommend! read more

This place has amazing service. I placed an order for delivery that DoorDash messed up and didn't deliver. I called them back and they not only gave me a refund but also gave me a discount on the reorder. They made the order a priority on a busy Friday night to make it right even though it was not their fault. I came in to pick up the order and they even offered me a free shot of hot saki. The manager and wait staff could not have handled it better. The food is delicious and fresh and the service is top notch. Great job and thank you! read more

My girlfriend and I came here during their Eastern Conference Finals game 6 watch party, and the atmosphere was incredible. Although the Knicks ended up losing everyone was so excited and jovial the entire time we were here. Also, the sushi was incredible. So many different rolls to choose from. Specifically, I would recommend the dynamite and crazy tuna roll as that was some of the best spicy tuna I've eaten. The bartenders were very nice and conversational. Overall, this was one of the best restaurant/bar experiences I've had in my life. And I would highly recommend anyone passing though the area stop here and enjoy a meal/drink. read more

Good food. This place is packed and you bc a see why. Fairly similar menu to the old Nagoya but just as good or better.

Sushi was good. New drink menu is promising, but miss the fun, tiki bar vibe. New owners trying some different things.
