Not only have the people at Furs a Flying taken on this challenge of a dog, but they have also never been unkind or judgmental about him. If you have a difficult dog, you know that even among dog professionals, you are often confronted with people who are not very sympathetic or understanding. I have been going to Furs a Flying for about three years now and am very grateful for their work. Here is a before and after. They are often booked up, so you have to plan ahead, but I think it's completely worth it to have great haircuts and the peace of mind of knowing your dog is in such good hands.

He's a little more expensive than most but yer paying for the convenience. My dog is very timid, & doesn't do well when brought to grooming shops where he's there w 5 or 6 other dogs, & there half a day in a CAGE! Here, he's in his own driveway, the only dog, & done in 2 hrs. Plus he does a pretty good job too ! Only thing is, his ears aren't even ... think if he had a mirror in the truck, or lift up ears to check whether they're cut even would help otherwise the cut is beautiful., and he is such a Nice Guy, he treats our Bosco like he is his own dog! Our little 'keet, Jojo, needed a buddy so, reluctantly , I went to PetSmart. We've had birds (parakeets and cockatiels) for over 40 years and we really know quite a lot about them. First, I was pleased to see that all the 'keets were in a very clean cage with plenty of food, water and toys. I looked carefully and all the birds looked healthy and alert. The guy assisting me was also very nice and helpful. I selected my bird (Pedro) and went home. Pedro was very quiet and didn't move around much for the first day or two and ate very little....which is normal.....but he would get on my finger when nudged to do so....which was surprising as he hadn't been hand-tamed. Soon he began to explore. He and my other 'keet, JoJo, became friendly and after 2 weeks they were happily bonded. It's been 7 mos. since Pedro came home and he's a delight! Very healthy, playful and sings/chirps a lot. So overall I'm very happy with PetSmart and want to offer advice to new bird owners who posted negative things. (1) Birds are not toys or 'decor accessories' and you need to do some reading to know how to take care of them re: feeding, type of cage and general heath care. (2) Of course your bird couldn't fly when you brought it home! Very appropriately, all birds wings are clipped so they can 'flutter' but not gain any real height and fly. This is for their safety. Many veterinarians recommend regular wing-clipping as birds sometimes will fly out an open door and get lost. Also, they need time to get to know their environment as they don't know what walls and windows are, so when you let them out of their cages for a while (which you should do every day) they won't get enuf speed to crash into a wall. We used to clip our birds' wings but we're VERY diligent and now let them free-fly for about 5 hours a day in the dining room where they live. (3) You need to pay attention to them.....not just talking and showing affection but realize that birds hide symptoms when they're sick so when you notice they're not eating, feathers are fluffed-up or they're just not acting like themselves.....they are sick and things can go downhill quickly. Bird veterinarians are hard to find but there's a very good one in South Hadley, Ma. Or you can do a search online for bird vets. in your area. Birds are great little pets......I wish all the best to you bird parents!

Also, you can dry your dog with their electric dryer. It's an all-around pet place to go with full service.

He's a nervous dog, and we have quirky feeding and medication directions when we board him. Wagging Tails has had no problem following our directions, and the care provided has been first class; our dog always trots toward the entry gate when we bring him in. Management has been flexible and understanding when we've had glitches in our schedule, and the communication by email has been prompt and complete. My wife and I dropped our dogs off for a weekend of boarding and grooming. We left instructions for…read morethe groomer to groom our boy and do a practice grooming of our girl. We were also told that the grooming would be recorded so that we could watch the session if anything weird happens. When we picked up our dogs, it became clear that the boy's grooming was incomplete. He had little knots on his head and a large knot on his tail, as well as a new bald spot on his chest. When we spoke to the groomer about it, she said that he was difficult and wouldn't sit still so that she couldn't complete it, and she said that the bald spot was a cowlick. This didn't *seem* right, because he gets groomed 4 times a year and in the previous place they never had any issues with him at all, and we pet his chest all the time and would've noticed a bald cowlick spot before. She was also not told that the girl was supposed to get a pretend grooming session at all, so that never happened. Since the boy has never been an issue before, we wanted to see the video that we were told we could see if we requested it (we wanted to know what might've set him off), but then we were told that we couldn't because the video system has been down for weeks. The manager I spoke with didn't care and just told me that the groomers rent out the rooms so they aren't responsible for what they do. We contacted the owner but she hasn't responded and instead blocked us on the company Facebook page. Best case, this place has terrible communication amongst the staff and the groomer, poor customer service, and a broken video system. I wouldn't trust my dogs there.

I stoped in there on day on a whim and JL the owner told me to bring them in and he would see what he could do. Well they have now been going every week for a couple hours and they love it. JL and the other staff did an awesome job safely socializing them and they treat them so well. I never thought I'd ever be able I see them playing with other dogs and having so much fun.
