I had dinner here when they first opened and was not very impressed. I chalked it up to them being new and needing to work out the kinks. I recently tried it again and I have to tell you not much changed. The food was ok, not great, but ok. I don't think there was anything particularly memorable on the buffet. Best place in town to get Asian food. They have a sushi bar that comes with the price of your meal! Their fried crab Rangoon's are my absolute favorite here. They're sweet, creamy, and crunchy, all at once! The staff are nice but they don't really do a good job with the cleaning up of plates. (Hence my rating only being a 4/5) And the other day when I went in, they were cutting green beans on a table that wasn't sanitized. Not happy at all. Our son likes Chinese food so he wanted to come here for his birthday. The food was alright, your basic stuff. Being dinner, I thought crab legs would be served, no crab legs. The Amherst Buffet on Niagara Falls Boulevard has become my Chinese/Oriental buffet restaurant of choice. Definitely worth giving it a try, or in my case, return visits! A step above the usual for the buffet genre, it presents a clean, neat, welcoming environment. Staff is friendly and attentive, without being overbearing. A wide selection of many varieties is available for each and every part of a meal. The soups are wonderful, with the hot and sour soup being outstanding. Main dishes abound and are all good, but some are particularly notable: General Tso's chicken, coconut chicken, baked fish, fried plantain, and egg rolls. The sushi bar is extensive, and the chef who mans it prepares everything as it should be done, or precisely to individual requests. The rice is done to perfection, not too dry or too moist or too sticky, whether stand alone or as part of another dish. As an added plus, prices are reasonable, making a visit there cost-effective. They are combative and pushy at the buffet bars, especially for crab legs. Now, the management could help this by putting out more crablegs so people dont have to wait so long. Either way, the hostility and tiny kids running loose like animals sneezing face level on the food has turned me off. Owners need to ger control. This Buffet moved from their location on Transit. Pretty spacious with lots of buffet options. They even have a Mangolian Grill and sushi made ready for your liking. So far, being a newly opened buffet they're pretty clean. I hope this remains the case. One downside was that when we went on a really busy day, it was difficult to walk around the buffet bc it was really tight. FOOD POISONING ALERT! My wife and I decided to try this place for take out.. I didn't eat anything, so I was a bit hungry. We went around the buffet late on Sunday around 8:00pm and we got chicken on a stick (super dry), shrimp and salmon fish (which looked and smelled old), and sushi. I didn't have the sushi, but my wife did and she thought it was OK, she didn't have the chicken on a stick. The only items I had more of was the fish and shrimp. Within hours I felt my stomach going crazy. I literally vomited about 20 times that lasted through the morning, with a mild case of diahrrea. My wife sickness was delayed and started happening 3 hours after me. I think it's the fish or shrimp, but not sure because I wasnt really counting the difference of the amount of food we ate. I really do enjoy this buffet. It's nice and clean and the staff are not only friendly, but quick to refill a drink, remove plates, wipe up spills, get new silverware and replenish the food when it starts to get low. They have a little area set up where you can pick your own noodles and ingredients to stir fry. Ready to order stir fry? What's not to love! Also, they have a ton of different sushi rolls, and they're not half bad. I prefer to get my sushi made to order, because then I know it's fresh. The rolls were smaller and thinner, but when you're at a buffet, if you prefer a thicker roll ... you can put one on top of the other There are a few differences I've noticed with this buffet and other Chinese buffets in the area. They put their wontons directly in the broth, whereas most buffets let you put yours in yourself. Their (fake) crab bake is much creamier and has more cheese. Their egg rolls are spiced differently, much more tangy, as if they soaked their filling in rice wine. They have a ton of American foods here, and the nice part about it is, most kids are picky. So while the adults can enjoy Chinese cuisine, the kiddos can have fried chicken, mac and cheese, pizza, and french fries! They have tempura here as well. Their green beans are cooked just the way I like them. They're cooked but still have a good crunch to them, and they've got tons of garlic with it. My friends love me enough to deal with me reeking of garlic, which I guess you could say is a breath of fresh air Yes. I did just make a Dad joke. This is now my go to Chinese Buffet from now on. The servers were polite. The food was excellent! There are many food choices, being a friday there were many seafood choices including crab legs, clams and deep fried octopus to name a few. Also,many selections for children including mac and cheese, pizza, spaghetti and french fries. They also have a sushi bar which I really enjoyed! I did observe two women trying out the salmon with their fingers, when they seen me looking at them they stopped. I did tell the girl who was tending to the steam tables and she quickly removed that tray of salmon and replaced it with a fresh one! You know how after eating at a buffet you feel full and uncomfortable ? That will not happen here. This is a collection of the worst food I have ever had. The dumplings are like chewing a rubber dog toy. The fried shrimp tasted like it was fried in oil that has never been changed and the shrimp was wet when it was fried. You couldn't taste shrimp just mushy oil. The mozzerella cheese stick was fried in the same shrimp oil. I spit it out it was so bad. How do you mess that up? Anything made with chicken was inedible. There was what looked like ambrosia salad. I have no idea what it was, I also spit that out. The sushi was ok. I did not try the hybachi so I don't know how that is. Went there for lunch with a friend. It said Amherst buffet and we expected buffalo style food because there was no indication of the type of food served. We went in and weren't sure where to sit or what to do. The food was not properly labeled so you were not sure what you were grabbing. Everything was cold and when we told the lady she acted confused and got her supervisor. We told her that it was cold and she told us that it was probably because the air conditioner was on. That shouldn't make your food cold and gross. She asked if we wanted our food microwaved which we declined and said we just wanted to leave. She did not apologize or offer to take anything off our bill. $20 for cold food is ridiculous. I will never go there again and I recommend no one else to do so. Went to the new location for the first time on a Sunday for all day dinner, $13.99/person. I like the new location, it's very clean. The sushi was good, the Crab Rangoon is to die for. The main draw for dinner is the crab legs. I don't eat crab legs as they are too much work for the reward. Therefore I would say $13.99 in a bit much for this place and that's the reason it gets 4 stars and not 5. read more

Drove to garden buffet on transit on Williamsville only to find it closed. Heart broken. So I took to yelp to see if they had any clues to what happened. Found out they move to Niagara Falls blvd. so me and hubby drove to get our favorite go to buffet. We were happy they were there and even more so when we seen it it looked even better than before. Food was excellent plenty of options and everything in the buffet was filled to the top. Raw clams were plump and ice cold, blue crab was big and plentiful, frog legs were sweet juicy and the selection of sushi was bountiful. Mongolian grill and other Asian food was amazing. We stopped here for lunch and was actually suprised at the size of the place. From outside, it looks like a small place. It is very nice inside. There is plenty of seating, a lot of very efficient staff. There are so many selections, something for anyone. There is a huge selection of sushi and their crab is excellent. Their rice has an excellent flavor and their won-ton soup has the perfect amount of flavor in the broth. We enjoyed everything we had and loved the giant booths. There was plenty of room and you didn't feel like you were being squeezed into a toddler area. We enjoy the extra room they give you at this place. If you are in the mood for Chinese - this is the place to go. It is even better than the Fort Erie Chinese restaurants I've been to. read more

I thought I'd go in and have an average buffet-style meal ("this was good but this was just okay and this was better than I thought it would be etc. etc) but EVERYTHING was either completely bland (the egg rolls and lo mein had zero flavor) or was just disgusting (the sesame chicken tasted like straight up vinegar and the sushi...wow. Simply horrific). Even the dessert was godawful with the brownies so dry and chalky, you'd think it was astronaut food. The food took way to long to come out to fill the buffet, and when it did it was not hot! Some dishes where cold. Worst of all was the cashier, he did not close my transaction and charged another to my account. To me the staff does not know how to use the equipment, and all I got from this jerk was an argument! I left the restaurant furious and called my bank to report the issue to make sure I was not going to be ripped off.
