Avoid!
My father, who is not very computer savvy, kept bringing his computer back to AmGeek. Each time I went to NY to visit, he had another story about how he had to bring it back there. Part of this was self-inflicted (allowing for toolbars and such to be installed while downloading games), but it just didn't seem right. At one point, he lost drivers for the ethernet and network controllers and I could not get them back up, even with some experience. As I looked through his computer to see what might need to be unistalled or reinstalled, I found the AmGeek folder. Within the folder was the program D7, which among other things allowed AmGeek to log all passwords to sites my father visited!! There in plain view, after running the report, was all of the websites he visited that involved log-ins, with his username and password. This is absolutely out-of-line, no matter what the other benefits of D7 are. There were also programs that allowed for AmGeek to connect to my father's computer remotely, which he was unaware of...with the discovery of the password exploit, I wouldn't be surprised if the driver issue was intentionally created remotely to generate more business. read more
