If you are renting an Amerigas tank right now don't refill it, use it untill it's almost empty and have a propane tank you just bought delivered. If there is any propane left in your old tank they will make up a fake reason not to reimburse you. Also if you have some kind of an account with them make sure they can't go after that! Amerigas, a foreign controlled corp. fired its local customer service and farmed it out to the Philippines. If you have trouble their is no help for you. Without warning they shut off service to an 80 year old autistic man for a twenty cents shortfall in payment. Even though the account had a $300.00 credit. Without warning they shut off service to an 83 yr old man claiming a bill had not been paid, even though their own website said it had. People are left o freeze for days while the confused service in the Philippines tries to figure it out. You and your pipes could freeze in the meantime. Horrible company with horrible employees and horrible customer service. We had an account for probably 30+ years, in the beginning we could call the local office and actually speak to a person to arrange for a delivery, now when you call you speak to someone in the Phillipines that is unable to schedule anything, they tell you it will arrive in 2 to 3 weeks. Our last delivery from them, the delivery driver used a hammer to break the combination lock off of the gate, and he let some cows out onto the county road. Most recently I called to order a propane delivery, went through the entire order process, the agent transferred me to their automated telephone credit card system, I went through the process and wrote down the transaction number etc. A week later I get an email that the delivery was canceled because it wasn't paid for. Long story short, they used my credit card for someone else's account, but couldn't find it. I ended up having to dispute the charge with my CC company. That was the last straw, I finally had a local company replace the Amerigas tank. Called amerigas and told them to come pick up their tank, 2 weeks later they show up at the BILLING address wanting the tank, had to explain that the tank was at the DELIVERY address. Idiots. AVOID using this company at all costs. Pricing is well above their competition ($3.85 per gallon vs. $2+). Price review was requested and no return call, ever. Their claim that pricing is based on the great service they provide is invalid. They deliver just like any other company, mon - Friday 9-5. As far as professorial service regulated by DOT and the PUC as well as other regulatory bodies who over the complex tangle of overseerers, this company needs to be reviewed and brought into compliance with regard to customer service. When one relies on their for heat, hot water and stoves to operate the customer is at a tremendous disadvantage. We have used them for 21 years in spite of the fact that one of their service men failed to check remnant has in the equine lab and connecting facilities. upon which staff relied and blew up the lab, bathroom and connecting kitchen and laundry. 3 months without facilities during equine breeding season not to mention lack of toilet facilities for staff. That was resolved and they did cover replacement costs due to one manager actually showing Concern. As far as pricing, I've had drivers over the years remark on the high price of propane and offer to get us better pricing. That worked for a while. Most recently I did a price check, thinking pricing was competitive and found quite the opposite. Please check with Thompson Propane if you, like me, dislike being "hosed" on pricing. Thompson was professional when they came out and removed the old tanks, drained them and set them aside for Amerigas to pick up the tanks. When I cancelled Amerigas they said there would be a $70 charge to remove and pick up tanks...I said they had been removed--still same charge. Tanks still sitting on driveway awaiting pick up per Becky in front office. 20 years of being yanked around had to end. DO NOT USE this company for any reason. read more

Beware, Amerigas just told me when I sold my home with a full tank, they do not give me a refund for remaining fuel in the tank I rented. They said it is my job to get the person who rented the tank to give me my refund!! They said they have no legal documents that state this. Rate this company zero.. Scheduled on line delivery in advance but never received it. Had ice storm lost power and had no propane. Called 6 times, each time was made a promise to get propane out in 24 to 48 hours. Never received. Called the last time and canceled delivery and asked that they pick up their tank. The gave me a pickup date but the tank has not been picked up as of yet. I called today about why they hadn't picked up, got a promise it would be picked up in 24-48 hrs. I have been a customer of Amerigas for the last 8 years and I have never had as bad of an experience as I have in the last few weeks. I had a home inspection done and the report said they smelled some propane. I call in, and yes it's now to a Philippines call center as others have reported. They tell me I'm going to be charged $100 if I ask for a technician to come out, so the better thing to do is just wait for my normal delivery which should be in a few days. So I wait a few weeks, I call back in and ask when they will be showing up bc I may have a small leak. This time the guy says "oh a leak? We can have someone come out immediately!" At no charge I ask, "yes no charge!" So first thing I get is a $109 bill and ZERO communication that it was fixed. I call in pretty upset and I get transferred to a "manager" who obviously was an American. She was sympathetic and agree it was unacceptable and told me someone will get dispatched immediately to fix itS. So no one is home because we both work, we find out that the technician who originally showed up shut off our propane as well as locked it. Had no idea until we realized we had no hot water. So the next guy shows up a day later and actually was nice, we asked for our tank to be filled 50% because we are selling the home. He said no problem, I will put that order in. Guess what, they show up the next day and fill the tank 100%. We ask what happened and they said "oh. No one communicated that's what you wanted." This is the WORST customer service experience I've had in years, from a company who used to be alright in my book. If I weren't selling my home I would 100% be leaving this company, I don't care about cost either. If this were a few years ago I'd be giving anyone I know a positive recommendation. If you're reading this review choose ANY other company over Amerigas. Or you'll end up paying for it later. We have had Amerigas for many years. We live in a rural area where our heat, hot water, and stove all run on propane. As long as you are willing to check your propane levels weekly, expect to run out, be put on hold for 5-85 minutes, and be out of propane for a few days ... you'll be fine. If you want timely service, repair, or good customer service this is not for you. We have automatic refill which costs more but is supposed to ensure you won't run out. Their special algorithm is designed to look at your usage and adjust accordingly. I'm not sure who checks their math... but it doesn't work! Last year we ran out 3 times. The year before that one. It's December and we have already run out. Remember all those things that run on propane? They all have pilot lights. Those all must be relit. The driver dutifully goes around and relighted those pilot lights for you- you think wow what great service! However because the Tank ran dry those lines now have air in them. When air goes to the spot where the flame was it goes out now you can't relate it. We have had no hot water for five days. I keep being told that someone will get back to me. That someone will be out that day. That someone will be out the next day. No it has not happened I've been on hold for three hours today with two different customer service reps I am not a happy customer. read more

Today is day nine that I am without propane! I am a customer on the regular scheduled delivery. I started calling Amerigas last Thursday to find out where our regular delivery was as we had run out. I was told they had to reschedule my delivery but would get someone out the following day on Friday. NO DELIVERY Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I called numerous times everyday and was told that a supervisor would call me back within 2 hours. It never happened except for Friday. By Thursday, I filed a complaint and begin looking for a new company. Friday morning (today) I was still not able to get a status of my delivery, nor did I get to speak to a supervisor. Luckily Ferrellgas called me back today and promised a tank and delivery today. I called Amerigas back and told them to cancel my service, as they have abandoned me as a customer and 9 days without propane was not acceptable. The gentleman told me I would be charged a fee! WHAT?! I have been without propane with provides heat and stove and have been cooking on a pancake griddle and you are going to charge me???? I advised them that If i were charged, I would see them in court sue them for abandonment of my services. Amerigas is absolutely unprofessional and have failed to service me under contract! Delivery Time Frame Expedited- 1 Day, Est. Gallons for Delivery,Max Fill,Order Created On 11/18/2022 .] I checked back the next day and learned delivery was promised on December 19th. [Francis at 11:06, Dec 19: Thank you for staying connected, I have checked and I see that your order is on a route date for today, you may expect the delivery to be delivered today.] Imagine my surprise when on the 20th I ran out of propane. So, I contacted Amerigas again only to learn that my order would be arriving within three days, not the day I was promised. [Date Placed: 12/20/2022, We have updated your delivery order to an expedited delivery order. You can expect this delivery within 3 days.] I waited, again, and on the 24th, around close of business I called to see if there was a late delivery for that day. The office was closed already. So, no Christmas at the Grandparents, due to no heat and no hot water for the last 5 days. Luckily, my disabled spouse and I are still hanging tough on the 26th, still with no propane, in case you are curious. I thought perhaps another email would garner me reliable information concerning the date for delivery from someone other than your customer service staff who is clearly instructed to lie thru their teeth. It could be dispatch since I observed one of your trucks about a mile from my house on the 23rd but either way, the question is do you have anyone in your organization that is at least half competent and not a liar so I can schedule a delivery? 3 wks ago I ordered and was required to pay for a "site survey" and prepay for the tank sets and propane, for over $1800. I told the rep before confirming the order that I needed the site survey on a specific date 30 days away. She said she would email the service dept to tell them, and they would contact me to confirm. They never did. I have now made countless phone calls and spent countlesd hours of time that I don't have to spend, and still no appt. Have left messages foe managers who have not bothered to call me back. The reps say there is no way for them to contact the service dept other than email. There is no phone # for their complaint dept, all they can do is "create a ticket" and email it, which does not resolve the issue now. Terrible customer service and even worse problem resolution procedures. Do not use this company. read more

One star is way to generous. So I have been a customer with amerigas for 15+ years until last week. They upgraded their computer that changed me from automatic to will call. When I brought this to their attention they where amused thought it to be funny that their computer would do that. So I complained that I was cold, could not cook food and my house had no heat. They started off by telling me they where short of drivers and how they would dispatch a driver. However they told me because my tank went empty I would have to wait for their driver. 10+ hours later their driver showed up, I asked where they had been. The driver told they where the last driver to leave the yard and I was the next to the last delivery so much for a promise and taking care of their customers. So I called the next day and to Placate me they offered credits on my bill. The bill came and no credits were seen. So as I allways say money walks and yesterday I went with Viking propane and Monday they can pickup their tank. I wish I could leave negative stars. The ONLY thing I can give them any credit for is for having competitive pricing on propane. But good luck actually getting your tanks filled. We placed an order over a week ago as long time customers and it's now past their delivery timeframe and we ran out of propane. I called customer service multiple times a day trying to get an update on delivery and they are absolutely useless. They outsource customer service overseas, so you get a generic script reading. And then when I was connected to a "manager", she screamed at me on the phone that their crew is "doing their best" after I relayed that my home is unlivable for my family, including small children. Absolutely no empathy for the situation, or motivation to make things right. How nice that you get to go home to a heated house in the wintertime, I can't say the same because your company is unreliable. I've heard horror stories about them and I should've listened. I'm so disgusted with this company I can't wait to switch! Our only source of heat is a gas fueled wall unit and our tank also fuels our stove and water heater. I called on Wednesday letting them know I needed our tank filled (the forecast was calling for a week plus of below freezing temperatures overnight) and 3 days later, still no sign of them. On the call, I let them know our tank was low and the rep couldn't bother to tell me they have 5 business days to fill the order and they wouldn't be coming until the following week? That's terrible customer service! In literally freezing cold temperatures, it could be 7 days before we get a refill. Our tank is now essentially empty and unless I use their "emergency" service and buy a minimum of 110 gallons AND pay a minimum fee of $95 dollars, I just have to wait for them to show up. Their main line was unable to tell me any potential problems for the tank going empty, but they could dispatch a technician that I could pay for to answer my questions. In addition to their prices being higher then three other places I've contacted, their customer service is lacking and it seems clear that our business means nothing to them. If a zero star rating was possible, I may still only give one star for the simple point that two of their drivers that we've had out here in the past are pleasant. It has been 7 months and we are still waiting for this substandard company to come out and pick up their tank after we have switched to a company that values me as a customer and gives me amazing customer service. With Amerigas, I could never even get me a quote over the phone, let alone get a delivery within 2 weeks. We switched to Legacy propane and they came out and gave me a fill on a Saturday after we accidently ran out, out fault, within 2 hours, no extra fee and we do not have to pay in advance. We have AmeriGas's tank STILL on our law/planter after 7 months and they still cant tell us when they will be able to make it out to pick it up. They also told me that I would have to pay a tank pick up fee---well they can kiss my behind as I will in turn issue them a tank storage fee for the time I have been waiting... Ordered delivery online at amerigas website on Dec 1. On Dec. 3 called customer service to remind them to call me about an hour before delivery driver gets here (they want the gate unlocked and clear, giving 2 weeks delivery window - cant have my gate sitting open for 2 weeks, but i have someone home to unlock and open the gate for them when they are near). Called them again on Dec. 17 - they said there was "attempted delivery", but the gate was locked. Well, did anyone call me prior to delivery? No. Was someone home during their claimed "unsuccessful delivery"? Yes! So, they checked into their records, promised to expedite delivery, and added instruction for driver to call me before he gets there (they were not sure what happened with first delivery instruction). Called them again on Dec. 23 - once again they promised to expedite delivery and once again added a note for the driver to call me before he gets there. Called them on Dec. 24 - same as Dec 23. Called again on Dec. 30 - told them I am running on fumes. They again promised to expedite delivery and once again added a note for the driver to call me before he gets there. On January 4 ran out of propane. Called them again. Spent about an hour on hold. Finally got to talk to someone at service. Asked to talk to manager. Promised that manager will get i touch with me same day. Few back and forth sentences and i am still getting assured that manager will call me within an hour. Of course never happened. And when i try to call back after an hour - couldnt get through at all. So on Jan 5 got on the phone since early morning and finally got propane delivered. Summary: 36 days from request until delivery!!! 1 day without propane. Countless hours on the phone. I mean: I am not getting propane for free. I am paying, right? I have been only been using AmeriGas for a short time. This is our first winter with them, and they have jacked up their price to $4.11 per gallon. I called two other companies who quoted me $2.80 and $2.40 per gallon. That is not an intro rate, those are normal everyday rates. I called AmeriGas and asked for an explaination. They had none and offered me a 10 cent discount on a future delivery. What a joke. Needless to say, I have a new propane company scheduled to start next week. Set up an account got delivery and bill, and it states on the bill that you have 30 days to make payment. So if I had a delivery 2 weeks ago why is it that AmeriGas is sending my landlord a past due bill when I the tenant have an account set up in my name to pay the propane and I get paid once a month and it's only been two weeks since delivery?! So instead of contacting me directly or hey if my account was really past due past the 30 days it states on the invoice I have to pay then ok I can see contacting the homeowner BUT I still have two more weeks until my bill is in fact past due!!!!' So instead some genius from AmeriGas is giving my landlord the impression that i can't pay my own bills and he's at the my property management place having the property manager call me regarding a "past due bill" that is in MY name that is NOT past due smh read more
