We've had nothing but issues. We were on auto-fill when we first started service with them, but they weren't coming monthly, as I was given to understand they would. Then, after our first year ended, we went from the "Welcome" pricing to the regular pricing. Then, still on "auto-fill," our tank got down to 0 and I had to call for service. At the end of December, 2014, I went in to pay our tank rental and asked for another delivery. Three weeks later, I had to call again. We then received a bill for what could only be "Emergency Pricing" -- $4.51/gallon. Sure, when I called to complain, our charges were dropped and it was explained as basically a communication fail between the front office and dispatch. We purchased our tank at the end of February, and I took us off "auto-fill." Asked for my refund on tank rental be a check, as we weren't going to use them again. So, imagine my surprise when I got a bill from them for $399 plus change. We were no longer on auto-fill and I certainly had not called for a delivery. I called and lost my cool. My bill was reduced to their lowest available price of $1.79, which tells me their prices are not in any way competitive (I already knew this from calling around other propane providers in my area when I received the $4.51/gallon bill). I imagine that after having me complain at them three different occasions, the order to auto-fill went out before I purchased the tank and switched us to will-call, but yanno what? That seems to me to be the sort of thing the front office needs to keep dispatch informed of. As soon as I have my tank rental refund, I will be closing my account with Amerigas. Since we now own the tank, we are free to use another propane provider, and you can certainly bet we will. read more

Don't go to this companyi f you like answers to what price am I paying for each gallon, why your gallons used is fourpled in a month ("if we send the meter off to be calibrated it will be a 79 charge and 90 percent of the time we do not pay it"), how are you converting the clicks on my meter to gallons used. I am a new customer, less than a year. If you can read the invoice, you should get a job as a physicist. Do not call the office and ask for an explanation, because the push back is ridiculous. As if you are accusing them of murder, which leads one to think they are actually misleading you. So I took all my records and went in. Electric bill had not changed, I am a conservative user, but somehow that didn't matter when looking at three months of 95 gallons, 45 gallons and 30 gallons. Even though it has been a pleasant winter, I have a southern facing house, I have a 600 square foot house, and I am not in my house for 15+ hours a day and turn the heat down to 55. Well after listening to, it is the pilot light, it depends on what kinds of appliances you have - I threw my hands up and asked which agency regulates their business. She didn't know. And funny thing, doors are closing all over the office. The ones who may have known didn't care to explain why my bill went from 50 to 400 in one month. Oh, but they were wiling to write off the late fee, give me a good customer coupon and deduct 53. I just stood there thinking, this can't be happening. I'm looking into speaking with my senators to get some oversight on this industry. These good reviews are more than likely paid, I have not heard one good report from an Amerigas user. read more

My account was set up the same day and Mike ensured I was on their schedule for a new tank install as soon as the old tanks were removed. With one days notice, their driver (Casey) and another technician came first thing Friday AM and had the new tank installed. Because I didn't have another source for heating or cooking, they were given the authorization to fill this new tank with their 23 gallon tank (that I figure they use for unplanned needs). Casey told me of my route day (Fridays) and that he'd be by to fill the tank then. Instead, he came by the following Monday and filled the tank. I dont even want to call them a company or a corporation because that's a disgrace and shame to the TRUE, CARING & CONCERNED business out there that this person/family needs to find before they freeze to death because of this one. I'm a tad upset with Amerigas. As you probably caught on to by now. AmeriGas doesn't deserve ANY stars. Where do I even BEGIN to describe or "review " this.... eh..so called 'business' ‍ So somewhere in Ohio, during this the most recent ICE STORM,(2/16)a family worried if their LESS THAN 5% of propane would last throughout the night. Thing is, it wasn't an error on their part or even a leak that the tank was practically running off fumes. Sadly for WEEKS they've tried to get gas delivered! "You're on the list" "within 24 hours" "it'll be there today...." EVERY. DAY. FOR. WEEKS!!!! In the dead middle of winter, the % of propane went down, down, down all the while someone sat in their cozy little office on their lazy ass taking phone calls multiple times a day from one family for this long. Maybe, more than likely more. It's the middle of winter with a huge propane tank. It's not like we can just load it up in the bed of a truck and take it down to the local gas station and trade it in for a new full one. It's not like a new company can be called and money transferred to them. That's almost a grand they're at this point embezzling from the state because amerigas was PAID to deliver the gas. But they took the money and the gas is NOWHERE, especially not in a tank that's probably empty now. Haven't checked because at 3% it's not hard to know where the level is gonna go. Especially during and following an ice storm!!!! VERY lucky and blessed there's still power. Otherwise, God only knows ‍ And ya know the sad, pathetic, infuriating, aggravating, deathly frustrating thing, (aside from all this leading up to this point) is that yes, the "emergency" line was called. "Oh I'm so sorry, itll be done today, you're a priority delivery now" yada yada yada yada. BS! REALLY?!?!!!! What kind of 'company' let's a customer call numerous times a day for WEEKS now asking, NO at this point waaaaaaaay past asking, already rocketed past pleading, almost BEGGING for propane to be delivered them!?!?? Had it been known that this 'company' was so evasive, decietful, uncaring and money hungry that they could give a crap less if a family (WITH SMALL CHILDREN may I addqw)could at any moment lose power due to ANOTHER snow and ice storm forecast within 2 days of the 1st one, in the middle of a nationwide pandemic run out of propane.... I'm sure another company would have been found to begin with. Oh, wait a minute Actually that would've probably been almost impossible given amerigas is like the top propane company in the area. A little mom and pop company here or there but.... (in the voice of Jed Clampett)Gee, guess it wasn't a priority to check the utility companies of the future before settling in the area. (Dang it the time machine must have gotten lost somewhere in the decades) Guess we'll keep it in mind if we ever decide to totally uproot from a lifelong home because some company hotshots or bigshots or lazy assholes would rather let a family freeze to death than do a little bit of paperwork. Gah SUCH a complicated job! (Said with the upmost sarcasm) If you're reading this, do yourself a favor, (and trust me, its saving you a HUGE hassle ahead of time....) FIND A DIFFERENT GAS COMPANY! ANY company BUT this one! Because they wouldn't give a damn if it was the president on the phone, so long as they kept filling their pockets and NOT their customers' tanks! warning!!!!! danger!!!!! stay away!!!!!!! toxic company, very unethical and irresponsible business practices!!! we have already reported them to the bbb and various consumer advocate groups within el dorado county, sacramento county and the state! this organization is utterly incomptent and has no business being in business!!! their fiduciary activities are questionable and they failed numerous times to accurately conduct accounting and billing practices!!! perhaps they are embezzling??? which is why we initiated an investigation through proper authorities and consumer advocacy groups! amerigas and their employees have 'pass-the-buck' mentality!!! again, stay away, consider this your warning!!!! your propane costs may be low but you will be paying dearly and highly with headaches and only talking to people in missouri and the eastern part of u.s. for any issues you may have. go somewhere else!!!! read more

Predatory billing and price gouging in Elkton Florida. They charge me almost 6.00 per gallon, that's absolutely ridiculous and 3x the national average. I live in a neighborhood where amerigas runs a tank farm. I complain every month, they lower the bill and then bill me higher the next month. I have a security camera pointing at my gas meter, not once in 4 years has anyone ever came out to read my meter. They obviously bill you what they want and hope you ignorantly pay without question. What a terrible company. NO MORE. I'm going to fire up the entire neighborhood and put a flyer in all of our 300 driveways urging all residents to stand up and say no more by leaving horrible reviews, contacting the BBB and calling amerigas to complain. You have woken a sleeping giant amerigas and you will regret it until you straighten up and act like a caring, fair and grown up run company. read more

This propane company's cost per gallon is $1.32 more than 2 other local propane companies. PLUS, they charge other fees (HazMat fee, Fuel Recovery fee, Will Call fees) which the other local companies do not charge. When I asked if they would consider price matching, they said, "No, our prices are more because we are safer," which is ludicrous, they are NO more safer than all other propane companies! When I decided to remove Amerigas tank because their fill price would have been $363 more just for the propane and go with another propane company, I was informed I would be charged $150 to remove the tank, plus $60 dispatch fee, and the tank had be be less than 5% or there were be an additional $150 charge! I didn't even initially contract with Amerigas, but they bought out my propane provider, Northern Electric. Buyer beware! read more

We requested a final delivery before moving out of state. The delivery was canceled and we were never notified or given a reason why. Trying to reschedule a new delivery was extremely difficult and time consuming because they never came on the next delivery date. We ended up paying for an extra month of propane usage by the new tenant. The online portal is also a poor user experience. We disabled our auto payment but we were still charged, despite set to "disabled". Extremely disappointed with this company. read more

Amerigas is a horrible company. Hiked my prices over a dollar per gallon over current local market price with no notice. When I tried to talk to someone about it I get sent to a snippy VA in the phillipenes, nice one AMERIgas. When I finally got to someone to talk about it they said they would file a ticket with billing and be back in touch. Well they got back in touch with nothing but a late fee. These people are criminals and I will never use them again. read more

Horrific company !!!! Their prices are outrages, customer service is adequate at best. Im sure if i called to become a new customer i could get them to my house within a couple days with new tanks. I have cancelled my service and i can't get them to pick up the tanks, they will not even give me an approximate date. A friend said it took six months for hers to be picked up !!!! Stayed on hold for 43 minutes to even speak to someone. Rep came out for inspection, we got cleared for fill up. tech said it would be a couple days. After 2 weeks called back in. On hold for an hour this time. Work order hadn't even been turned in. Thank God we don't have to pay by the minute anymore for phone service. Now to wait and see if they actually follow through.... Meantime, looking for alternatives. read more

When you switch from Amerigas because of high prices, they leave the tank in your yard for more than 6 months, and then they send you to a credit bureau for tank rental during that period. read more
