I called this enterprise location and was told the rate was $29/day. When I got the rental car in the lot and was about to sign, they were trying to charge me $40! I said I was told $29 and the rep said no, it's $40. He looked puzzled, like "I don't know who could have told you $29".... I then asked for smallest car because I wanted that rate so he switched me into a different one and told me it was $35. Then I said no, it's $29, and he finally agreed to honor it BUT I HAD TO HAGGLE! Worst screw was when I went to return it, I was charged for an extra day. I rented Thurs AM at 8:45. I went to return Sat AM at 8 but they did not open til 9. They charged me for a third day! I had the car for only 48 hours!!!!!! I am currently fighting with corporate to get my money back for the third day. They tried to blame it on Geico and said since I had it for part of Saturday it counts as a full third day. How does a place like this stay in business??????????????????

On Saturday, September 28, at 6:39 PM, I reserved a van for a family trip with seven people. The reservation was confirmed last week, so I expected everything to go smoothly. However, the day before Thanksgiving, I was hit with a series of issues that left me and my family stranded and ruined our holiday. When I arrived, I was informed that I could not rent the vehicle because I was considered "high risk" due to a vague incident from 2021. This information was never communicated to me when I made the reservation or during the confirmation call. Why wasn't this flagged earlier? Instead, I was led to believe everything was set for my trip. To make matters worse, they refused to allow my spouse to take over the rental because I was the one who made the reservation, leaving us completely blocked from renting. Adding insult to injury, they also claimed they didn't have any vehicles available, which makes absolutely no sense since I reserved this van months in advance. Their excuses were vague, and the lack of accountability was infuriating. I was told corporate would call me, but they never did. Honestly, I believe they just said that to get rid of me. Enterprise directed me to their support page (https://www.enterprise.ca/en/help/contact.html) to resolve this issue. When I followed up, I was rerouted to risk management. I have been calling for weeks, yet not a single person has responded. This level of disregard is appalling. It's clear to me that Enterprise does not respect its customers because they are a billion-dollar corporation and believe they can get away with this kind of treatment. As a result, I couldn't secure a vehicle elsewhere because most places were either fully booked or outrageously expensive due to the holiday. This trip was a family reunion--the first time everyone was going to meet. We had family flying in from all over, and I had to make the heartbreaking call to let them know we couldn't make it. Instead of celebrating with my loved ones, I'm stuck in NYC on Thanksgiving with kids who are upset, a house in shambles, and no resolution in sight. This was an incredibly disappointing and unprofessional experience. Enterprise's lack of communication, poor handling of reservations, and vague reasoning for denying me the rental have ensured I will never use their services again. I plan to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau first thing Monday morning. Avoid this location at all costs if you value reliability and good customer service.

The car was dropped off Saturday evening April 4th. Upon returning the car in Newark, I had an excellent experience with this car rental service, thanks entirely to the outstanding support I received from Shanteeya. From the moment I arrived, she was cordial, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. What really stood out was how she handled an unexpected issue. I was given a car remote with a dying battery, which immediately added stress to my trip. Instead of brushing it off, she responded with empathy and understanding, acknowledging how inconvenient that situation could be. Shanteeya stayed calm, listened carefully, and quickly worked toward a solution. Not only did they replace the remote promptly, but they also reassured me throughout the process, which made a huge difference in easing my frustration. Their approach was truly solutions oriented, they identified the problem and made sure everything was fully resolved before I left. She, then, proceeded to support me with removing the car seat which had gotten stuck in the 2nd row. Going above and beyond like that isn't something you see every day. Because of their professionalism, kindness, and willingness to help, what could have been a stressful event turned into a positive experience. I'm very grateful for her support and would happily rent here again because of the exceptional service that was provided.

    Super smooth experience getting and returning our Enterprise rental car at Newark Airport…read more Our flight was due in at 11pm but we landed late and luggage was slow so we got to Enterprise after 1am. A friendly employee was still there waiting for our flight's passengers to come through and had us sign a quick e-form. Unlike the airport employees who were not interested in helping us find our delayed luggage, the Enterprise employees (despite it being 1am) were friendly and accommodating! We signed a quick form with them. The Enterprise parking lot was empty - entirely cleared out - so they sent us to the next lot over, National (their sister brand). There were a handful of SUVs left and we were told to pick the one we wanted. We found a Chevy, all clean and ready for us. Turned on the heat, adjusted the mirrors, and we were on our way. I forgot to ask about the tollpass because we were exhausted at 1am, but found out later that we'd just be billed by mail for any tolls.

When I reached to rent my car with my mom on the wheelchair, extremely exhausted, and ready to head to the hotel. I can't explain the kind of service we were given by associates and Manager almost end of there shift. They had very unique names and beautiful, for sure I am going to mistype but Messiah (manager) and his associates were very patient and helped us out from getting the car, showing the best fit for my mom, that can be comfortable, yet convenient. We ended up renting BMW X7, beautiful car. It was little high for my mom to step up, but Massiah, went above and beyond, he went on search for a stepper so my mom can sit without any inconvenience. Also, he walked me through the car system, since it was my first time driving it. Their service didn't just ended here, while returning, they escorted us to the terminal, the associate didn't just dropped us but stayed there with my mom until I checked in and I had available hands to drive my mom's wheelchair. What an incredible experience and service. Thank you everyone who were patience and helped us out through getting our car and returning it. You gained my business, I'll be using your services whenever in EWR. Thank you :)

    If you rent a car at Newark you have to use Alamo. Clean cars, friendly people, efficient...I…read morenormally don't gush about rental car stands but this experience was just over the top.

I was a bit hesitant at first because of some of the reviews, but my wife spoke with a gentleman named Chike, who was very welcoming. When I went to the Union location, I asked for him, and I'm glad I did! He went above and beyond to help us, made sure the vehicle was spotless, and got us exactly what we needed. Everyone there was friendly and professional as well. I'll definitely be renting from this location from now on. The Ford Expedition we received was top-notch, and the overall experience was excellent!

From the moment I arrived, she was unprofessional, dismissive, and outright rude. Mavel did not greet me or provide any basic courtesy during the rental process. She didn't explain car options or details, and instead of guiding me to the vehicle, she simply started walking out, turned back with an attitude, and said, "come on." When we got outside, her demeanor was so off-putting that I asked if she was having a bad day. Her dismissive response was that she was "fine," but her attitude and lack of professionalism said otherwise. She brushed me off again when I asked about the car inspection, claiming pictures were already taken earlier in the day, and she refused to walk around the car with me. When I asked for her name, she mumbled it under her breath and gave me a dirty look. I had to suggest we go back inside to write it down, and instead of assisting me, she just walked away. To make matters worse, there was no manager available because they had left early. This is unacceptable for a business I rely on monthly for rentals. The lack of professionalism, customer service, and basic respect from Mavel should not be tolerated. The location seemed to be well staffed with two other associates and there wasn't a lot of customers so as much as I have a heart for understaffed locations, this didn't seem to be the case. Mavel needs retraining or a new job that doesn't deal with the public, especially if working for Hertz which is more respected brand I will strongly reconsider renting from Hertz in the future if this is the new standard for customer service.
