On Saturday, September 28, at 6:39 PM, I reserved a van for a family trip with seven people. The reservation was confirmed last week, so I expected everything to go smoothly. However, the day before Thanksgiving, I was hit with a series of issues that left me and my family stranded and ruined our holiday.
When I arrived, I was informed that I could not rent the vehicle because I was considered "high risk" due to a vague incident from 2021. This information was never communicated to me when I made the reservation or during the confirmation call. Why wasn't this flagged earlier? Instead, I was led to believe everything was set for my trip. To make matters worse, they refused to allow my spouse to take over the rental because I was the one who made the reservation, leaving us completely blocked from renting.
Adding insult to injury, they also claimed they didn't have any vehicles available, which makes absolutely no sense since I reserved this van months in advance. Their excuses were vague, and the lack of accountability was infuriating. I was told corporate would call me, but they never did. Honestly, I believe they just said that to get rid of me.
Enterprise directed me to their support page (https://www.enterprise.ca/en/help/contact.html) to resolve this issue. When I followed up, I was rerouted to risk management. I have been calling for weeks, yet not a single person has responded. This level of disregard is appalling. It's clear to me that Enterprise does not respect its customers because they are a billion-dollar corporation and believe they can get away with this kind of treatment.
As a result, I couldn't secure a vehicle elsewhere because most places were either fully booked or outrageously expensive due to the holiday. This trip was a family reunion--the first time everyone was going to meet. We had family flying in from all over, and I had to make the heartbreaking call to let them know we couldn't make it. Instead of celebrating with my loved ones, I'm stuck in NYC on Thanksgiving with kids who are upset, a house in shambles, and no resolution in sight.
This was an incredibly disappointing and unprofessional experience. Enterprise's lack of communication, poor handling of reservations, and vague reasoning for denying me the rental have ensured I will never use their services again. I plan to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau first thing Monday morning.
Avoid this location at all costs if you value reliability and good customer service.
