It said said I'd be able to add on insurance at the office. But the woman working there on June 7 told me they couldn't do that. You should call in advance about insurance. The car they rented me didn't have working AC, and it was a pretty hot weekend. But they have so few cars there that it didn't seem worth going back and asking for another.

Then I found the Avis/Budget center in Westfield. Cindy picked up my call. She was friendly and helpful. They didn't have the type of vehicle we needed onsite, but she went out of her way to secure one at another location, then drove there to pick it up, herself. We were able to pick up the car that evening. When we arrived, Dom was outside cleaning the vehicle. It was pristine! The pick-up and drop-off processes were simple and quick, and they asked me how our vacation was when we returned the vehicle. This is a hidden gem. Dom and Cindy saved our trip. If I ever need another rental vehicle, they'll be my first call. I highly recommend!

The manager offered to send his guys to pick up the van. I'm not sure why this wasn't taken care of before we got there as there were 4 guys working when we arrived. He kindly offered to wave mileage for us as an apology. We went back home to wait for the drop off. It took them an hour to bring us a different car. There was no phone calls letting us know about the delay. This should have been a 20 min wait. We were standing with all of our luggage in our driveway for an extra 40 mins. There is a lot a mom can do with an extra 40 mins. You feel?? Our trip was delayed an extra hour and a half. I woke up 4 teens to wait an hour and a half. Not the best way to start a road trip. Their review might have been a bit grumpier. When I told the manager I planned to post this on social media he accused me of threatening him. So I leave that up to the reader to decide how threatening this review is. That said we are comfortably ensconced in our brand new minivan rocking the 80s tunes.

My reward for staying inside my condo during a rainstorm on September 18th was wire damage under the hood. The outside claim company is called PurCo, and charged me for repairs to the wires, 10-day loss of rent while repaired, admin costs, and diagnostic cost totaling $6,758. I asked PurCo if cars rented by Avis already have their own insurance to cover these repairs. No answer. I asked if the repairs have been paid already. No answer. I asked if these were the actual cost of repairs. No answer. I was not in the car when wires were damaged. I did not take the various insurance costs that Avis offered, because it would have been an extra $53/day! I was not negligent with this car, but I am expected to pay $6,758 for damage to wires during a rain storm, when I was not in the car. PurCo represents many car rental companies for over 30 years. I called this enterprise location and was told the rate was $29/day. When I got the rental car in the lot and was about to sign, they were trying to charge me $40! I then asked for smallest car because I wanted that rate so he switched me into a different one and told me it was $35. Then I said no, it's $29, and he finally agreed to honor it BUT I HAD TO HAGGLE! Worst screw was when I went to return it, I was charged for an extra day. I rented Thurs AM at 8:45. I went to return Sat AM at 8 but they did not open til 9. They charged me for a third day! I had the car for only 48 hours!!!!!! I am currently fighting with corporate to get my money back for the third day. They tried to blame it on Geico and said since I had it for part of Saturday it counts as a full third day. Also they force you to use your debit feature rather then the usual option which is the credit feature. The place was filthy. The car that was given to us was not up to par. The vehicle had a bad tire. The representative had it fixed by a shop next-door but we got to our destination the tire was going flat again. The DVD player in the vehicle also did not work. I would not suggest renting from this establishment they are the ghetto in the suburbs.
