I would not suggest renting from this establishment they are the ghetto in the suburbs.

Having just carefully inspected the car when purchasing it, I knew that it was pristine when I brought it in. Now, mistakes happen and anyone can drop a heavy part and do damage. That happens. The real problem is that the UHaul of Scotch Plains staff hid the damage from me and just expected that I wouldn't notice it. That kind of dishonestly and untrustworthy behavior means that anyone who does business at this location needs to watch everything the employees do and double check all of their work. That can get exhausting, so I just recommend you go elsewhere.

From reservation, to pick up, to return - everything was fast and painless. I think from the time I pulled in to the time I was on the road was about 5 minutes at most. Drop off took about as long with the 24 hour availability. In the past I have used UHaul and Budget but will stick with Penske going forward. I rented a 26' truck so I could move across town to a new home, but due to a delayed closing our our new place I needed to extend the length of time I had the truck by almost a week. Penske had no questions and allowed me to keep the truck as long as I needed. The real bonus with Penske is your truck is guaranteed to be there, unlike their competition which could send you half way across the state to pick up your truck the morning you need it. It said said I'd be able to add on insurance at the office. But the woman working there on June 7 told me they couldn't do that. You should call in advance about insurance. The car they rented me didn't have working AC, and it was a pretty hot weekend. But they have so few cars there that it didn't seem worth going back and asking for another.

This location was the ONLY one far enough from the airport to charge a lot less than the car rental places at Newark, and it's open on Sunday. The car I rented was great on gasoline and ran smoothly for the 2/12 weeks I had it. It was small enough to park almost anywhere and it fit my luggage and passengers well.
