Rewind 5 years ago and I lead an organization that rented (or tried to) two trucks weekly for approx. 10 weeks. Most of the time, the trucks were not there when we needed to pick them up (3PM) , there was an endless list of mechanical issues WE had to figure out how to work around, botched reservations and the like. Well, I tried renting this week and the same issues are still present. Imagine going to a restaurant where you needed a reservation to get in and known for the best tomahawk steak , only to be told there were no more tomahawk steaks available or they couldn't cook them at that location but you could have instead Wagu beef at their sister location 20 minutes away. Sure they weren't going to charge you full price for it, and yes they would work with me by throwing in a free dessert but I made a reservation for a steak at that location for a reason. Maybe the meal was the precursor to another event starting at a specific time and because they did not have stock or the ability cook a steak , you the customer has to make the adjustment. And that's what they don't get. I made a reservation to pick up a specific size truck at a specific location at a specific time, all of which they confirmed but changed it the closer to pick up time/date I got. Imagine being told your move has to be changed because we can't supply enough trucks for out customers when they want them, where they want them. The delay cost me an extra $400 in labor waiting around for me to arrive with a truck and that delay impacted the next day's move. The front line associates think calling the customer in advance to offer an alternate vehicle/time/location is acceptable. Well it's not. Shame on you for introducing more stress to an already stress situation; what move isn't!?! I'd rather show up with a red wagon and take my chances moving safely. Penske Parsippany, you truly suck and thanks for making what should have been a fun and memorable experience for us stressful, unnecessarily difficult and something we'd rather forget. I'll never recommend you for rentals; you're way too unreliable and cannot meet customer demand. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Look elsewhere folks, this company couldn't give a crap about providing product and service. They're more interested in prying your money away out of your wallet than providing the solution you're paying for.

This is the SECOND time my boyfriend & I have rented a moving truck from this location only to be charged a $100 late fee - even though both times the truck was returned on time! On top of that, they give you the biggest run around trying to get a refund. First you have to call the location, then you have to call the district, then you have to call the location- its a complete exercise in futility. Then apparently some guy named Frankie- who is about as hard to get a hold of as The Wizard of Oz- never returns calls and is never in the office when he's needed. And their computer systems are so archaic that he is the only one who knows why they applied this charge to our account?? Yet he's conveniently never around. All I can say is SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!! I would strongly recommend if you value your time, money & sanity you rent a truck from someone OTHER than Penske!!

Then why did it allow me to make a reservation? We agreed I would pick up the truck the next day instead. The next day I went down to the location and was informed that they don't actually have any trucks!! What a waste of time. I went to Penske instead, and had a great experience with them. Oh, and Budget charged me a $75 "no-show" fee for a truck they didn't have. Now I get to waste more time with them trying to get that refunded. Avoid this place like Covid.

He couldn't spell my 5 letter name correctly despite my spelling it for him (DUH) so my reservation confirmation EM (with my name in it) never arrived. I CALLED BACK A 2ND TIME & spoke w/ Rep #2. This time I spelled my name multiple times, but he too, was incapable of spelling (DUH) so again, I never got my EM. I CALLED BACK A 3RD TIME. Hurray! An Einstein! He could actually not only spell my 5 letter name right, but also get the EM to me! I held on the phone this time, as I had 0 trust by the 3rd time. I got the EM only to discover Rep #1's price quote was NOT $163.14 but OVER $700!!! RIP OFF! I had to wonder are they really this ILLITERATE or was it a CON to not send me the EM price confirmation, then spring it on me when I picked up the vehicle and it was too late? I demanded to speak w/ the Supervisor, who REFUSED TO HONOR THEIR ORIGINAL QUOTE. I told him to listen to the recorded phone conversations! I FILED A COMPLAINT W/ THE BBB. In their response to my BBB complaint, Budget Corporate Ofc. alleged the price quote was NOT $163.14. I KNOW WHAT I HEARD & WROTE DOWN AT THE TIME & REPEATED BACK TO THE REP. And guess what~ they could even spell my 5 letter name and get an email to me the 1st time.

You think that working with multiple companies they would learn some type of professionalism but don't expect that. I made an appointment with the budget website and it said this place closed at 6. My appointment was for 5:30 since that was the only time I could go (right after work). After I get there, no one is available. I even see the hours for one of the services held at that location printed on the window (which said they closed at 6). After hectically trying to call everyone I could to resolve it since I needed to get the truck that day, I eventually gave up on them and went with uhaul since everyone with them and budget simply deferred responsibility of the issue. Avoid working with these people if you can because customer service is no really a concern of theirs.
