We had live entertainment and cold water and cake delivered from Madison Hy vee. But here's the best thing we were able to transform the barn interior to our celebration and the cost was $300.00 + purchase 4 cases of wine! Compared to other Madison venues this was a deal. And with an open beer and wine bar we had no problem meeting the minimum case requirement. The Botham family are very accommodating and gracious hosts. Actually come to us to fill our glasses while we dance and enjoy the great weather for 4 hours. Are event started at 4pm and we left about 8pm. I'd do it again! Great wine also.

We had been looking for a local farm-to-table experience when we found Campo di Bella. Our first…read morevisit was a Saturday evening which consisted of a five course meal. Everything about the evening was exceptional. The first course was bruschetta, followed by a refreshing fresh salad with lemon dressing. The main course was flank steak, cooked perfectly. This was followed by a cheese board with delectable cheese samples from local dairies. For dessert, they had an absolutely amazing home made vanilla ice cream. It was rich, creamy, and very tasty. We enjoyed it so much, that we immediately reserved a second dinner which had cider braised pork shoulder as the entree. Again, the meal was exceptional. It started with prosciutto wrapped cantaloupe. I've never had prosciutto sliced so thinly, it was tender and flavorful. This was followed by a butternut squash soup that was thick and rich. I didn't know butternut squash could be so flavorful. I cleaned my bowl so thoroughly that the host jokingly asked if they forgot to serve me. The pork was next. Served with honey crisp apples. It was tender and perfectly juicy. Again, a cheese board was served before dessert. All very tasty local cheeses. For dessert, a French apple tart. I could have eaten a whole tray, it was so good. I've now been there over 20 times. Every time has been exceptional. They offer a variety of wines, ciders, and local beer to go with your meal. They also make their own vermouth which is sweet, with a hint of clove. It's so good, in fact, that we like it on the rocks. Not mixed. The host, Mary Ann, is wonderful. She takes time before each course to provide background on the home grown or locally sourced ingredients. She also gives a history of the farm and her family and, if the season permits, offers a tour of their farm. Marc (Mary Ann's Husband) is the chef. He is a culinary wizard. As I mentioned, I've been back over 20 times, which equates to almost 80 different dishes. All of them amazing! My only criticism (it's a minor one) is that the room is small and cozy and it can get a bit loud inside. It depends on the crowd, but it can be a bit hard to carry a conversation. In summary: exceptional food and exceptional people. I could not recommend it more. Update (12/13/24): We've been coming back to Campo di Bella for the last 5 years. At least 60 times or more and we've never been disappointed. Marc and Mary Ann are incredible hosts that continue to create amazing meals and experiences.

This place is right off a bike path and bikers were stopping by and grabbing a drink. The outer patio was pretty packed too even though it was pretty hot outside. They had a food menu and it was pretty comprehensive though my only complaint about the food was that the menu price didn't reflect what was actually being charged when the server rang it up. The menu says $20 for the wagyu burger but you get rang up for $22. I didn't try to fuss. Anyways, the beer absolutely blew me out of the way so it's a rare case where I will let water go under the bridge. Their version of the fries that they call potato smash was very phenomenal and probably some of the best fries I had though it looked pretty easy to possibly make if i were to attempt this at home. We got other food items like chips and salsa which were also really good! The team was very knowledgeable about their side of selection because my wife can only have the vegan options. Most of their ciders were pretty good too. They had a dessert cider that was featured as well and they let me try a sample. It was phenomenal and I ended up taking plenty of cider home with me. The staff here were a pleasure to chat with and wait times for the food weren't bad either. I didn't even mention that the theme of this place is absolutely phenomenal and beautiful too. Overall, i don't know if I'll be back to this part of town but I will come back here strictly for the hard cider from This place. Thankfully they also sell their products in Janesville which to me is close enough.

I used to live in town and had fond memories of this place when it was Hoops. The food was good, the night life was awesome, the bartenders were amazing, and the place just rocked!! Then I left for a while, and came back to it being the Firehouse. At first, I didn't see much of a difference from when it was Hoops, then over the years things started to change and now it's just awful. The outdoor patio is nice but basically useless for 6 months out of the year. The inside of the place is run down and shady, and the drinks are cheap; perhaps too cheap. Every night the folks in here are trashed. Then the young crowd comes in and drinks way too much and causes nothing but fights and drama. The food is just so-so. Greasy bar fare, and nothing that cant be deep fried or done on a flat-top. Unless you want a Tombstone pizza tossed in (which you could just do at home). Not sure what happened to the Karaoke gig they had a while back, but that is long gone and the new music is just bad. Sounds like crap and the DJ doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. If you are a guy, be ready for dumb people yelling at you trying to pick a fight for no reason. And if you are a lady, be ready to be grabbed and prodded and harassed by drunk idiots. If you are a rude ass or a slut that loves strangers grabbing your parts, then this place is for you all day any day! Not sure how the locals put up with such a place being in their town. But unless things change, you can be sure we won't be going back there again.

The have food, ice cream, souvenirs and rentals. They rent canoes, kayaks, paddle boards and paddle boats. We chose to rent kayaks (sit-on kayaks) for one hour, which was $16/person. You must also leave a $20 deposit, or your driver's license or a credit card as the deposit. We could have added a second hour for only $5/person more, but we were short on time. Included with the rental is a the kayak, a paddle and life jacket. Once we signed the waiver, we were give the keys to four kayaks and headed down to the lake. All the rentals are parked on land to the left (looking at the lake) of the beach. We found our kayaks and took off on the lake. We had a great time. The lake was calm, but we had a nice breeze to keep us cool. It's not a huge lake, but big enough that we didn't feel crowded with the other water-adventurers. Nearing the end of our hour, we returned to land, locked up our kayaks and walked back to the concession stand. We retuned our paddles, life jackets and keys. To cap off our trip, we ended with some ice cream. I suggest getting a con from the counter. My one scoop cone was HUGE and delicious.
