This winery offers wines made from grapes growing in Illinois, California and Chile. Located on a dirt road outside of Galena,the setting is georgous. You can sit outside on the patio overlooking the vineyard or even sit in the vineyard. You order your wine selection in the gift shop that also offers small plates. They have many different wine varieties and Andy who worked there gave us a detailed description of each one. Unfortunately he was also a sale person wanting you to spend money which was a turnoff. We each elected to do a tasting of 3 different wines - all reds .Unfortunately the beautiful setting was better than any of the wines we tasted. We walked away disappointed as we really wanted to buy a bottle to support a local business but we just didn't care for any of the 6 we tried. You have to take a dirt road to get here but this winery has the most beautiful views and ambiance. Our hopes were high for the wine but unfortunately none of the reds we tasted were to our liking. In fact the flavor was so offensive to my pallet that I didn't finish any of the three varieties recommended. I really enjoy dry wines and stayed clear of the sweet so maybe that was the issue. The sales pressure was a real turnoff. I felt it was overpriced as well. Go for the views and the lovely garden patio but for dry red wine lovers I would fergedaboudit! read more

One of our favorite wineries in the Galena area! The view from Fergedaboudit was one of the best in the area! It was beautiful to not only see the vines but also the grassy hill scapes of the area. The vineyard had minimal inside seating but they had quite a bit outside in the grass as well as a shaded deck area. The building was partially under construction to expand some which was nice to see them put money back into the business. Vicki helped us and did a great job explaining the offerings differences, where the grapes come from, the winery history, etc. The wines as a whole were very delicious! What a great winery near the Galena area! The grounds and also ambiance within the winery were fabulous and very calming. The woman that helped us with our wine was very informative and very nice. The cheese assortment was very good, especially the pear and apple cheese was amazing! So much so that I had to bring some home. There are various wines to choose from and most were very good. We were cruising thru the hills in the Galena area and found Fergedaboudit Winery. What an amazing Winery tucked into the hills above Hanover Illinois! The view is fantastic, we watched the colors change as the sunset approached, very relaxing. This is a Family owned and operated winery unlike others we have visited. TL:DR - Beautiful venue inside and out. Friendly service. Standard covid precautions (flights only, no tastings). Wine was "fergedable". --------------------------------------------------------------------- Came in mid-week in the afternoon. Only one other group in the building. Very beautiful venue both interior and exterior. Stood around a little bit before anyone came to help, but overall the service was very friendly. The lady working was very informative and friendly telling us about the mulled wine and the freezie mixes. As with most wineries at the moment, they only had flights, no tastings. We tried the Marechal Foch and whatever "Reserve Blend" they had as it consisted of grapes grown on site, and the mulled wine made from the zinfandel. While I do get to a certain extent that what kind of wines people like is going to be unique to each individual, but the two wines (not the mulled wine) we got just did not taste good. Like, it's not even an issue of my flavor preference or not, rather the wine was just plain bitter, metallicy, and tinny. I don't know if the wine had been oxidized or if it just had too much acetic acid or brett for my tastes, but was just not at all enjoyable. Taken together this place gets three stars for its service and ambience but the wine was just not up to par. read more

We loved the winery! On our way home to our little own of Bloomington, IL on our 8th anniversary weekend. Spent 2 nights in Galena and visited the wineries there. This was our favorite by far! They specialize in dry wines but have a fabulous Black Muscato and sweet Port! Seriously the best port we have ever had! There is something here for everyone!! We stopped in on a warm summers whim and am so glad that we did! It is off the beaten path, just outside of Galena. The staff was so helpful in choosing a bottle (or two); it felt like we were old friends catching up and listening to stories about how they got started. This was a beautiful venue. Full of ambiance and flare. However..... the service was lacking. We couldn't get service even tho it seemed as tho others arriving prior and after us were. When we finally ordered, we chose to do flights, as tastings aren't taking place during Covid. We then headed up to the covered tent as the bees were overwhelming. Once we chose our table, we were promptly asked to move to a slightly smaller table (ok... no biggy). Then they chose not to give us our flights and serve our drinks one at a time, yet every other table had there flights. My friend and I made the best out of it and continued chit chatting only to be asked to get up so our table could be moved for the music..... very irritating. Won't be back. read more

Especially being open-minded with the production from small, Midwest wineries. However, nearly ALL of the red wines were so bitter and tart I was unable to stomach more than two sips of each. I tried some of their whites...same disappointment. :-( Additionally, the staff were quite unprofessional as they argued amongst each other in front of customers. The only enjoyable part of our experience here was the property itself....beautiful views, main building is quaint and eye appealing, and there's a fair amount of space to roam. Where do we begin... we decided to have our wedding at Fergedaboudit Vineyard after our first visit, which prompted the proposal in the first place. When we chose Fergedaboudit we never imagined just how great the staff and family would be. Our first contact was with Vicki, one of the daughters, who was quick to respond to our inquiries about our big day and was so helpful, accommodating and responsive throughout the whole process. Every time we met with the Fergedaboudit family and staff about our big day, we were welcomed with open arms and made us feel like a part of the family. Veronica, the second daughter, handled all of our decorating for the day and went above and beyond what we could have ever expected. All of the small intricate details that were put into the ceremony and reception were beautiful. When it came time for our big day, unfortunately, it rained heavily causing our original plans to have to be reconfigured at the last minute. Veronica sprung into action moving our entire ceremony under the covered deck to make sure we still were able to have our perfect ceremony. Vicki also jumped into action helping keep our guests glasses filled with their delicious wine and entertaining them while everything finished getting set up. Throughout the rest of the evening, Veronica, Vicki, and the rest of the Fergedaboudit family and staff worked hard to make our special day an overwhelming success. Loved the scenic drive on the way to this small vineyard in the hills. The staff was super friendly, and I really appreciated the owner/manager answering all my wine questions!! The wine tasting we did was cheap and tasty. I tried 4 reds & 2 whites. Surprisingly I liked the white wines I tried better. The reds kinda tasted like vinegar. My favorite was the Charcato. My boyfriend loved Poppi's Dolce Vino, he bought himself a $40 bottle of wine at his first vineyard visit. I thought the wine was a little overpriced for the bottle and they needed a bottle special if you buy 3 or more, something like that. But overall, the view here is incredible and so romantic and was definitely worth the money we spent. read more

I'm giving this place 2 stars only for the property (beautiful views) and the friendliness of the staff. The wines however are subpar. Many of the reds were too tannic, very astringent and bleached from too much k-meta. There was no hint of malo-lactic fermentation or oaking. The whites were weak and flabby. Both reds and whites were sulfuric and obviously were not fermented with a healthy yeast bed. All of these wines would benefit from a regimen of feeding the yeast, micro-oxegenation and storage in toasted barrels. Not a single red was palatable. If you are a serious wine drinker avoid this place and don't waste your money. Our wines ended up in the grass. read more

This was easily my favorite winery in Galena. Like other yelpers said, it is a must of red wine lovers. I prefer more of sweet/fruit/white wines but I still really enjoyed them. The vineyard is absolutely beautiful and they have a little deck area with music where you can hang out and have a few glasses. We had a groupon for wine tasting so I would recommend getting that if it's still available. It saved us $14 and we got free cheese tasting with our wine. Along with the cheese we got to try this homemade wine syrup. Try it. I've tried to make wine reduction syrup in the past and it was nothing compared to this. I want to bathe myself in it. I ended up buying a bottle along with a bottle of wine. Our wine tasting was done by the owner's daughter and she was great. Make sure to take the drive out there if you're in Galena. read more

My wife and I got married in Galena and wanted to try all the local vineyards. We were blown away on how great this place was. It's located down a gravel road on the hills of a beautiful vineyard. What a beautiful winery! We came for a visit here and stayed for quite a few hours and enjoyed ourselves. When we showed up there were a couple of groups but we're greater immediately. We started with trying our tasting outside, but the wasps and bees swarmed us (nothing you can do about that, it's a winery..). We moved inside and still heard great stories as our wine was being poured and learned more about the family and how each wine was developed.
