When walking around downtown Galena this is a great place to take a break. They have an amazing Bloody Mary, which is a small meal with bacon, etc. they have a nice selection of wine by the glass and bottles to take home. Jamie is a great host! read more

We stopped here during our visit based on our neighbor's recommendation and really enjoyed the stop. The drinks were the best we had during our stay (see pictures) - I had the Salted Caramel Martini and my wife had the Bloody Mary. The drinks, presentation and delivery were all top notch. The atmosphere was also great, but was a bit cluttered, with boxes of wine and other items littering the floor. The prices were some of the highest that we experienced during our stay...but again the quality and taste was great! You won't regret stopping here for a wine or cocktail. Saturday afternoon, party of 3. Service was terrible. I ordered at the bar with Jamie since table service did not arrive. Our drinks were 2 Prosecco's & 1 water. 10min later she asked if we ordered. She acknowledged she forgot our drinks and blamed it on her "private party" distraction. SO HAPPY TO RETURN! My husband and I returned to Galena for Halloween weekend after 5 years and one of our first stops was Jamie's. We love Jamie and her helpful staff and always enjoy trying new wines here. The atmosphere is lively - with a mixed clientele of regulars and newcomers. Over the two days we visited, we tried several wines previously unfamiliar to us and left with some treasures to take home. They won't last long! On Friday afternoon we enjoyed glasses of Syltbar Prosecco (excellent), Silverado Chablis, Quilt Cabernet and a Salted Caramel Martini. These, along with good conversations and some tips and recommendations from Jamie made the day special. We were fortunate to sit next to Jamie's well-mannered resident pup Ted in the back bar area for a time. Although he did not join the repartee, he seemed to like our company. We came by again on Saturday - just before noon so we'd have enough time to spend a couple of hours but leave before parade towing began. I had to have another Salted Caramel Martini! I am now ruined for any other after dinner drink! I switched to the fabulous Syltbar Prosecco again and my husband stayed with the Chablis. We left hoping to return again on Sunday but opted to head home early and get ready for Halloween the next day. We love this place! read more

We wandered around Main before dinner and popped in here for a drink. It's a cozy little wine shop with a small bar at the back. We each got a glass of wine and my husband chatted up one of the bartenders about some whiskey they had on hand. Overall it's a cool spot, but I did find the prices for a glass of wine high, which isn't something I say very often. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I typically do not leave negative reviews unless I feel extremely offended by a business. My friends and I were in Galena for a girls weekend trip and were walking around and decided to sit down at this shop where we thought it looked cute. We were immediately greeted by a gentleman who was not wearing mask and asked us if we wanted drinks. We decided to give this place a chance and sat down and ordered a glass of wine each. We were a little uncomfortable when we noticed that none of the employees were wearing masks except a new worker there but was wearing his mask below his nose. You would think businesses like this would be a little more strict on sanitation....nope. Nobody was wearing a mask going in and out. The workers would come to the table and ask us if we needed more drinks and get a little too close for comfort. At the end, the owner was so rude and didn't even thank us for coming and had so much attitude. What a great little place in Galena. They have these crazy bloody marys, excellent martinis and a great wine selection. The staff is friendly and Jamie is my favorite person in the entire world! She is a strong woman who is holding down this trendy wine bar in the middle of Galena. It's so cute, it's clean, it has a great selection of drinks and it's fun. Don't expect to pay little for your bloody mary. These bacon bloody marys they serve are pretty intense. I prefer their martinis because they taste better. They aren't cheap, but they do the job and they do it quick. This is definitely a spot to go to when you come to Galena. We came to Galena because of a close friend's recommendation. He told us as well as Galena's own website stated that Galena is very dog friendly. So we decided to do a 1 day trip with our little dog to check it out. We stopped in at Jamie's to taste some wine since we are wine lovers. Before we went in with our dog, which was contained in a doggy stroller, we wanted to make sure there was no issue with our dog. So my wife went in to find a dog already in their tasting room. She found Jamie in the room and asked her if they would allow our dog in. She found out the dog was the owners. Jamie told my wife "Absolutely not" in a very rude manor. Jamie went on to say it was against local health codes. But, why was her dog there?? Talk about a double standard!! And why was she so rude? Well Jamie ruined our whole trip. So we want across the street to another tasting room and they had no issue with our dog! We will never be going back. Families and people with kids BEWARE! From the moment we walked in , to the moment we left, we felt berated. Normally when you have a group walk into your store, you recommend wines and be casual and fun with your new clients. This is not what happened. We were welcome to a finger pointing at expensive costs to cheaper wines. The notes $25 corking fee, was what did me in. The moscato wasn't bad, but the owners comments were ridiculous to the layperson. She was more interested in speaking to her regulars then new clientele. The last straw was when the owner made mentioned that "This was the reason she was never married or never had kids".. If your looking for a nice wine tasting or glass of wine don't go here... go to Galena Cellars instead. Needless to say the young lady at the front of the store was pleasant. With only 6 or 7 stools, it's an intimate environment and Jamie does a nice job of playing "matchmaker" and getting the patrons talking amongst each other and bonding over our favorite hobby (drinking wine). My wife and I have met some really nice people at that back window bar. Con's: Jamie serves $12-15 bottles of wine and charges $21-25 per glass. Yes, you read that correctly. You'll pay $21 for an average tasting red blend from South Africa and $25 for a California Cab. Or you could buy that blend for $22 (bottle price) plus a $20 corkage fee and get five glasses for $42 (that's what I did). And it can be a bit off putting watching her drinking behind the bar or pouring her regulars free glasses or tastes while your glass is empty...and then being charged $21 for a glass of a bargain basement blend. Overall: Cute environment. Interesting people (fellow guests), middle of the road wines by the glass, ridiculous glass prices. Oh and no, you DON'T hold your hand over the top of your glass (cupping the opening) when you swirl. You're swirling to aerate and increase the oxygen flow not restrict it...LOL. read more

A great selection of red, white and sparkling wines by the glass are presented on a chalkboard. Behind the bar are large windows staring straight into the beautiful bluff on which downtown Galena is built into and perches. With the space being so quaint, the Galena rumors are true. We met another friendly couple from our hometown of Chicago. By the time we were ready to leave, we continued our night strolling Main Street, while the couple tried to convince us to buy a summer home in nearby Elizabeth. It was truly memorable evening and we will be sure to come back. Wine, martinis, good company and a dog. This is now my new favorite place in Galena. It was later in the day and things were winding down. My friends and I were on our last section of the strip looking for a place to grab one last drink on our nice day trip to Galena. To be completely honest, we didn't plan on stopping by Jamie's and almost passed by completely but looked inside and new this was a spot we needed to try. Walking in you immediately feel like you were just transported to a trendy wine shop in California. Everything was designed with a clean contemporary feel to it. The wine selection was solid, and everything with he design of the place was laid out perfectly. Past all of that you see a beautiful bar in the back with huge windows behind allowing natural light to shine through. Behind the bar outside you windows you see old brick walls covered in moss that were probably laid when the town was formed. Really pretty. Everyone that was there was having an awesome time. Laughing, conversing with each other, sipping wine and throwing back martinis. We ordered a glass of wine and a martini. Then another...and another. Before we knew it our one drink turned into a few for each of us. This place kinda just took us in and we ended up chilling and drinking with complete strangers like they were old friends. The martinis were delicious and indulgent. I'm usually not a huge martini fan outside the typical dirty martini, shaken not stirred of course, but I think I got a Mounds bar martini and pineapple upside down cake martini? Not gonna lie...I was pretty buzzed by the end so forgive me if I don't remember the exact names lol Along with my glass of wine. It was all super tasty. Oh and their 'bar dog' was pretty cool too. Just hung out with everyone the whole time lol. If you need a change of pace from the typical bar in Galena, make this a stop on your list. I'll definitely be back again. We were walking down the street when we saw a sign that said "Fresh Handmade Sangria". It had our attention and in we went to give it a try. In the back of the studio is the bar. It's a small, cramped area with very limited seating. The atmosphere isvery nice! The copper sheeting they used for the bar top mixed with the muslin and copper pipe drop ceiling and the big open windows showing the old limestone foundations in the back gave Jamie's a welcoming feel. The staff was very friendly. My group of four took the only table they had after ordering our Sangrias. While we were sitting someone came over to refill the pretzel bowl and checked if we needed anything else. We enjoyed the Sangria; of course, just like any other drink we all had our own opinion on the quality. Some would have liked it sweeter, other not... I thought I was almost perfect. When we were getting ready to head out they made sure that we knew that they were open until 1 AM and invited us to return. Why only four stars? Due to the size. It's hard to have too much fun when you are crowded and people are standing and around waiting for a seat or trying to squeeze into the bar area to get a drink.
