The initial perks were the front desk staff were friendly and super helpful. For many years they accepted packages and put them in my unit. I utilize the unit for work related marketing materials, so it was such a great help to have them accept packages. They also had a functioning moving truck, which I utilized a few times. The last time I inquired about the moving truck it was out of order. I also used to keep a spare key at the front desk which they threw out during an ownership transition and didn't notify me. It's a compounding of all of these things that have chipped away at my overall Impression of this company. Why do I still rent here? It's indoors, secure to enter, and offers the shortest commute for me to get there.

I mailed a check along with a hard copy of my intent to vacate and sent it certified mail. They didn't accept delivery of it so they didn't receive my rent and they locked me out of my unit. Had they done their job, they would have received payment three days before it was due. These people lack professionalism and they have no problem at all being predatory property managers. The severe miscommunication and deceptive tactics between manager Bill Fleming and his wife, Linda Fleming, lead to total misrepresentation, unfair treatment, and predatory business practices. ​The Setup: Manager Bill Fleming checked us in for our storage auction win, took our payment, explicitly waived the deposit (a common courtesy), and granted us extra cleanout days if needed. He was courteous and professional, driving us to the locker in his golf cart and authorizing our gate access so we could lock the unit and haul our first load home. We have been buying auction units for eight years and have never dealt with such dishonest operators. ​The Contradiction: The very next day, Linda Fleming called demanding a deposit, falsely claiming Bill said it was required and that we had refused to pay. Even though it was their internal miscommunication, we offered to pay the deposit over the phone to keep the peace. When we asked her to review their security camera footage--which clearly shows Bill taking our payment, telling us we dont have ro pay the down-payment, asking us just to clean it out entirely, driving us to the locker, and allowing us to lock up with our lock --she refused, rudely stating it was "our word against his." ​The Broken Promise: When our car's brakes failed on the highway on our way back, we called to explain the mechanical breakdown. Linda explicitly agreed to let us pay for a half-month at half price so we had time to wait for our mechanic's replacement part, which wasn't arriving until the next morning. ​The Retaliation: Shortly after making that deal, Linda called back, reneged on her word, and demanded cash only for the half-month fee and the deposit in cash. Knowing our vehicle was broken down and that we couldn't physically drive to the office, she refused to accept payment over the phone and demanded we clear out the locker by 6:00 PM that exact same day. To top it off, she called back a third time just to patronize us, claiming it was a "courteous call" to remind us of the 6:00 PM deadline. ​They took our money, went back on clear verbal agreements, and revoked our access while we were stranded with a dangerous vehicle failure. Saying one thing and doing the exact opposite underhandedly is illegal, unethical, and predatory. ​Formal Regulatory Actions Underway: ​State Attorney General (Consumer Protection Division): Filing a formal consumer fraud complaint for breach of contract and deceptive trade practices. ​Federal Trade Commission (FTC): Reporting unfair, predatory business conduct. ​Local Business Licensing Department: Filing a complaint against their operational permit for deceptive consumer lockouts. ​Self Storage Association (SSA): Submitting an ethics and operational misconduct dispute. ​Financial Chargeback: Initiating a bank dispute for services paid for but denied. ​Save yourself the financial loss and massive headache--do business anywhere else. By far the worst storage place I've ever had ! I've had for 3 months , maybe been there 3 times in…read morethat whole time and today I was locked out of my unit and told I had to leave the property because I had my dog with me and all of a sudden it's in my lease that my baby chihuahua who is a very very obedient, well trained service animal that you can't even tell he's with me ever cuz he's so quiet and well behaved and so small . So in order to get into my storage i had to leave my dog in the car or have someone leave work to come get him for an hour which also means he would be away from me and not able to do his job, leaving me at risk medically. Mind you I signed my lease while I had both my dogs with me not just the one and they had treats in the office for the dogs and gave me a bag when I asked for so I could pick up the poop cuz I left my bags in my truck. So how does a lease I signed then all of a sudden change without my knowledge, forcing them to be so rude with me and my surface animal to the point where they locked me out of my paid storage till I follow rules in my lease.... Unbelievable! Than tell me I can not be there longer than 2 hours and once the hour and a half mark passes(90minutes) - the employee was then at my storage door telling me to start packing up that I needed to get out of there. It was time to go and then would come back every 10 minutes to make sure I was ready to leave at the exact two hour mark - 120minutes to unload a huge house I just moved out of - impossible! How to keep my U-Haul another day pay the extra money cause I was not allowed to be there longer than two hours. And two wrap everything up with a cherry on top. My unit completely flooded when it rained today to the point where everything in my storage that was on the floor was soaked ruined or has to be washed, cleaned or thrown away cuz there was so much rain very quickly ! They had to have known that it was going to flood like that ! It was not their first day of that location that had ever rained. They have been there for years. Knowing that exact unit had to flood like that frequently and still sold to me .
