I can tell you if you have Arron train you, you will go from having a good instructor good to a great instructor. He has improved my shooting skills to a marksman level. He teaches all levels of firearms training from beginners, moderate to experienced shooters. He focuses on proper gripping of the firearm, stance, breathing, hand and arm placement/coordination, trigger pull, reloading etc. all of which improved my skills. And he is very comprehensive in insuring his clients are informed about compliance of the law in every aspect depending on the class you are taking. His intangibles with his clients are second to none: caring, patient, informative, detailed oriented, laser focused, systematic, organized, disciplined, safety focused, self motivated just to name a few. Don't waste your time hiring a firearms instructor with an ego and attitude who intimidates you at the range (you know what I'm talking about). If you want the best, who is highly skilled and knowledgeable in this field, and who is patient, caring and understanding and will work with you based on your skill level, look no further. Today(6-16-18) was the third time taking a class with SSD and they are just awesome, the instructors are very professional, knowledgeable, and committed to excellence. The real life experience enhances an already comprehensive and complete class; as well as each class builds more on the previous in a well laid out manner. I've watched the instructors improve the shooting accuracy and round on target placement for many participants just by knowing what the shooter is doing wrong and being able to convey that to them in clear understandable way. Overall I would recommend giving SSD a try for any of their firearms training courses and will continue to utilize their service.

Ray taught about the various ways to put together your own med kit, how each item is used, demonstrated applying a tourniquet, properly packing and dressing a wound, applying a chest seal, and then he instructed us as we applied tourniquets to ourselves and others. We also learned about various techniques to securely move/drag a buddy to safety, if needed. We also packed a dummy wound with simulated blood flow. This part was extremely valuable because the simulated blood kept us aware of how to actually stop the flow with proper finger placement, using enough gauze, and finally applying enough pressure. The class gave me the information and training to now feel a lot more confident and competent in being able to properly stop a bleed with gauze and/or a tourniquet as well as even possibly continuing to defend myself or others in worst case scenarios. I plan to continue to learn more about medical and to keep practicing these skills. Even if you don't carry a firearm for work and/or CCW, I recommend at least taking his 4 hr stop the bleed course. I took their 2 day class at the Escondido Police training range on December 5/6 with 17 other students. Wayne and Jesse tell us their CCW training is "draw heavy" since that is what concealed carry is all about. Once your firearm is displayed, it falls back to simple marksmanship. The 2-day class focuses on building blocks, starting with drawing from concealment from a relaxed position, and continues through other positions, such as surrender (hands up), cover garment already grabbed, one shot draw (clear cover garment and draw with the same hand), then multiple shots to the same and different targets. Most drills are run at 7 yards. The first building block, one shot into the A zone with hands relaxed, has a goal of 1.5 seconds. If you cannot draw from concealment and get a shot off in 1.5 seconds, you most likely won't make the goal times of the other exercises. In seconds, the other goals are: Surrender - 1.75, Shirt grab - 1.25, Strong hand - 3, Shoot 1, Reload, Shoot 1 - 5, Bill Drill - 3.5. Splits (time between shots) need to be at .35 seconds. The fastest shooter in the group managed to complete every drill in less than half the goal time. I learned a ton of new skills and was given plenty to work on. As I said earlier, you need to be able to draw from concealment and get a shot off in 1.5 seconds. I had a great time in class and have many new tools in my bag of tricks. These targets are available online if you look.
