I came across Slide & Cylinder at an enthuaist show. They are great people. They had a great deal for the Bersa I wanted, so I bought it. easy. Steven, the owner, is a really great guy. He is super helpful, knowlegable, and really has a passion for this. At the shop, he has a little bit of just about everything you'll need. He is also does safety classes, and training courses. He's pretty flexible with his classes, and tailors them to the skill of the students. read more

I recently purchased a weapon at the Crossroads of the West gun show in Costa Mesa. After waiting the usual 10 days I gave Steven a call to setup a time to pick it up. He is very accommodating on hours to make it easy for pickup. Very quick and easy! Thank you read more

The best possible course I could have taken to really learn the most for gun safety and proper gun ownership. Steven, Todd, and all the instructors were super helpful. I brought in a new firearm and never having shot a gun. To now knowing how to properly use, own, and maintain a handgun. They answered all of my random questions about firearms with a 10/10 response. read more

Recently attended Basic Pistol Training with my boyfriend. I found Slide & Cylinder in google and saw the good reviews. I was intrigued and excited. I immediately contacted Steven for the class. He informed me that he just finished a class and I was a day late but he didn't decline right away. He arranged another class for me and my guy. Im so glad he did. We both enjoyed the class. I was more surprised my guy liked the class so much he didn't realize the time. It was very engaging and enjoyable. He applies the lessons to real life scenarios. He does not only train you to shoot but to consider what is the best thing to do in situations that could possibly happen. He trains you to be a responsible gun owner. Of course, best part is the hands on training! He is very patient with me. I never fired a gun before. I am 'intimidated' by it. Steven helped me gain that confidence that I need. Thank you so much Steven for all the things you shared to us. Looking forward for another training with you soon. Shout out to Mike! Highly recommended! read more

My wife and I took Steven Randal's NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course. Steven Randal owns Slide and Cylinder Fire Arms which conducts various self-protection classes. The course we took was excellent and professional. He uses many forms of presentation, i.e. PowerPoint, hand-outs, hands-on, personal experience, etc. He takes the time to insure that everyone in the class gets the knowledge and understanding of his course. When I did not understand a certain part of his presentation, Steven was patient and took the time necessary for me understand the lesson. I do not like guns, but Steven's teaching has made me confident, comfortable and knowledgeable on the safe use of firearms, including safe handling, safe loading, and safe firing. We highly recommend this class. Definitely worth the money and time. read more

It had been quite a while since I last shot my S&W 38 double action 640 revolver and recently received a S&W 9mm Shield as a gift from my kids. Prior to joining a class, I took a few private lessons from Todd. It was money well spent. I am looking forward to strengthening my skills and meeting fellow shooters in group classes. Using the Pink Rhino Laser Training Cartridge, at home, has been a valuable practice tool. Thank you Steve and your team! read more

First review ever! Owning a Family Owned Business as well, I LOVED seeing this family in action. Stumbled on this company after reviewing other Yelp Reviews for Firearm Safety classes. I was looking for a Firearm Safety class to give me more peace of mind and knowledge while handling my firearm. Instructor Steven and his dad Henry couldn't have made me more comfortable. They were knowledgeable, patient and super friendly! Went from learning in a classroom, moving on to the gun range for hands on practice and then back to the classroom for a wrap up and test! If you need a Basic Firearm Safety class LOOK NO FURTHER. You won't regret it! Look forward to my next set of classes read more

First I took Steven's Basic Pistol Class months ago and loved it!!! He is very professional and answered all my questions. Since I did not have a gun personally at that time, I asked him to try out his Glock 19. He let me shoot that gun to see if it was the right gun for me. I've been wanting to buy a pistol since that class and this month decided to finally purchase my first hand gun!! Steven made the process so smooth and once my 10 day background was done, I met Steven to pick up my gun and he went through step by step how to take apart and clean my gun. Once the ranges are open again, I will meet Steven and practice shooting with my very own gun. Thank you Steven for making this process as pain free as possible. read more

When you are looking for integrity and a place that will build your confidence from the very first class, then Slide and Cylinder is the place to go. Steven, the head instructor, is a wealth of knowledge but is more modest than one needs to be; Raising your firearm intelligence without making you feel overwhelmed. It brings you a sense of awareness that not many people will bring to your attention. He applauds your success and gives you the tools to improve where you are lacking. It's very refreshing to have an instructor teach shooting and moving drills, that you've never done in such a context, and compliment you while honing those skills that need sharpening. I want those answers from an instructor, not just that I did great. This type of feedback makes me far better and it will do the same for you. read more

I've always wanted to lean to shoot a gun, but had always seemed daunting. Taking Steven's class, while enjoyable, made me feel at ease and answered all my questions. I left the class with a confident mindset. Highly recommend, Steven in awesome!! read more

Just when I was getting so frustrated with the long line at the Turner's (d/t pandemic panic), a friend referred me to Steven Randall, Slide and Cylinder Chief Instructor and FFL dealer. At my first meeting with Steven, he helped me go through the test and get my FSC. On the following day, he helped me place an order for a pistol. And yesterday I completed his 101 class (off-range training) for newbies. I felt so blessed that everything has gone through so smoothly and fast, which otherwise might take me forever if I kept waiting for the availability at the Turner's or elsewhere during this crazy pandemic. Professionally, Steven is very knowledgeable on all kinds of firearms and is highly capable of teaching and training people at all different levels. Even a clumsy novice as myself would feel comfortable in his class and gain confidence at the end. More importantly, he takes safety measures at all times. Personally, Steven, though looks macho, is patient, kind and funny. read more
