I'm usually extremely loyal to Pro Hair & Nail Care when it comes to getting my nails done, but for some reason their whole family decided to go on vaca together this week and close down shop for a few days. What's a girl to do? It was inevitable that I had to exercise some infidelity for the sake of lookin' good, so I wandered over to American Nail being that I was already in the neighborhood at my parents'. I felt so guilty! For as hole-in-the-wall as it looks from the outside, it was really nice and sparkly on the inside. Look-wise, this nail salon beats most others I've seen. I got in right away for a manicure & pedicure, and I was so excited by the pedicure chairs! You know how the massage chairs usually throw you around and make you feel pretty awkward? They usually don't even feel good. Well these chairs were AWESOME. Seriously, I'm still so relaxed from sitting in one of them! The pedicure was pretty standard, although my nail guy didn't feel like talking to me at all which was a bummer. My nail people at Pro talk the whole time I'm there, and one of them even teaches me a little Spanish! Yeah, don't ask... Oh, and one thing that they did here that I've never seen before, is rub a slice of lime over my nails. Say whaaaa...? Whatever works, I guess! Silent Nail Guy (SNG) did an amazing job on my nails, too. Perfect length, great paint job, all the works. Everything together (pedicure & fill) only cost $32! Major steal! I might have to go back a few more times just to see if they're consistent, even though my heart's with my talkative, sort of Spanish-speaking nail posse @ Pro. Really great place! Over all I really enjoyed my experience there. I really liked the feel of the place. They had a lot of color choices and did a great job making sure the water for the pedicure was the way I want it. They had relaxing music playing and made it a very nice environment. I really liked my manicure and Marci did a great job with making sure that it was right before i left. I think the only problem I had was when I first walked in the guy in the front wasn't all that friendly. I will probably return to get my nails done again. read more

****Update: June/ July - Never ever again! I said that before, but I really needed a pedicure and I still haven't found a place around here that does decent work. So I went back just praying something changed. Made my appointment and went on in. My feet were tickled again, the tech (a male maybe 30ish??) disregarded the toenail that was jabbing into my big toe, and then proceeded to do a poor design on my toes that was shaky and had terrible lines. I've been so embarrassed this past week I've worn flip flops once. Which is sad to say seeing how I still have a toenail digging into my skin that I haven't had the time to take care of and it hurts terribly to wear shoes. My heels already looked like I never went in at all 2 days later. Please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. I'm sure they're great for some people, but they don't seem to care about their quality and providing a relaxing and enjoyable experience to all guests.**** Original Review (10 months prior): I've gone to American Nail for quite some time now for pedicures. Unfortunately this past time will be my last. First let me say that the first 8+ times I had been in were quite enjoyable. Always friendly, thanked me for making an appointment and explaining to some of the "walk-ins" that I was going first because of my appointment. All great. The time before last I had a new guy, who I had never noticed before. He did not pay attention to some of the "problem areas" that I have, and seemed upset that he needed to put a little effort into doing what I requested. He also proceeded to tickle my feet after I was just telling another client that I hated being tickled. Unprofessional! I thought about calling the next day but didn't. I let a few weeks pass and decided to schedule another appointment. I figured it was best to just give them another chance and not be so critical. I arrived a few minutes early and picked out my color. I then proceeded to sit in their, very small and plant packed, waiting area for about 10 minutes before being told my water was ready. I went to sit down, mind you they sat me next to the only other client (sorry, but am I the only one who goes to relax sometimes?) and left me unattended. My water went cold, they never mixed in their "blue rocks" and I sat there for 30-45 minutes. At one point an employee walked by and said "good you in no rush today" .... Excuse me, but you don't know my schedule for the day because you never asked! I've never come in without the rest of my day empty so I don't appreciate you implying I was in a rush on a previous visit. So, this time I got one of the ladies. My original thought was "good, she's done good before and maybe will be my saving grace". No! She made very little conversation with me and instead talked to everyone else in the shop. She did not bother to assist me with a very painful ingrown toenail and even squirted acetone into a small cut on my toe and pressed on it (with acetone) as she was cleaning off the next toe. Lastly, when I got home, I noticed some of my toenails aren't even rounded. They're jagged and there is excess polish on my skin. I'll be looking for other places nearby that are more deserving of my money and take the time to care about their clients. read more

I love this salon! We tried lots of salons in the area and this is the #1 best! Kahl is amazing and Lee does GREAT nail art! I love Japanese nail design and Lee is up for trying anything! My best friend and I were looking for a place to get our nails done because the one close to our homes had an hour wait and we did not want to wait. I yelped a nail place close to where we were going and this popped up. It only had one review but it was by an elite so I trusted it and we went. I was not disappointed, we got pedis there were 20$ flat they did not have a place on the receipt for a tip so if you want to tip bring cash. The salon was tidy and had really cute decor. We were seated quickly and got right to soaking while getting our pedis we were given complimentary wine and that was a fun perk. My only dislike was the leg massage that usually comes with a pedi was not there. They rubbed in lotion but there wasn't really a massage. But my nails look super cute and the girl that painted by nails asked me if I wanted a flower painted on. The way she said it did not imply it cost extra but I did not get it, but that may have been another freebie. read more

My daughter and I needed pedicures badly after this cold winter weather made our feet so dry and rough. We called and ask about pricing and if they were busy. American Nail said to come on by. We got one of the best pedicures I have had in more than a year. The people working there were very nice and personable. The first time it was an hour hour wait passed my appointment time. this last time, someone walks in, does not have an appointment, and they take her first wanting me to continue to wait. My friend and I had an appointment yesterday at 11:30 am but still waited to be seen. They were busy. One of the ladies worked on my pedi first while my friend waited some more for the other lady working there to be free. However, while she was waiting, they had her soak her feet and she was using the massage chair. The staff was friendly and was funny. They did apologize for the wait. Overall, my feet felt nice, soft and smooth. I liked the choice of colors they have for nail polish. The standard pedi is $22 and it was enough for me and my friend. They did a good job. I had stubbed my toe and cracked the nail and without even having to ask the lady that did my nails went to extreme lengths to make sure it would heal properly. Just moved to the area from Austin, TX and happy to say I've found my nail salon! This is the first salon that I've been to that provided a consultation before working on my nails. I'm pleased to say I went with Cal 's Gel recommendation and my nails look wonderful. My pedicure was performed by Tiffany and the attention given to not only my feet but legs as well was simply scrumptious. About 3 months ago there was a new employee, male in his 30's. He is extremely rude & does horrible work. Prior to him I was always extremely comfortable and love the staff. I have been once per month since he started and I have always had a friend with me hoping they will love the place as much as I do. Unfortunately this new staff member has made myself and both of my friends uncomfortable and we have received less than par work from him. I wanted somewhere closer to home so I googled and called Cal suggested am appointment so I made one with him .. he did a great job but he is the only one who answered the phone so it took much longer than expected for a manicure .. I picked a color and he told me it would not look good on my skin .. Last Christmas my sister took in my two sons who were 5 and 7 years old to buy a gift certificate for me for Christmas. Cal, the owner was NOT friendly at all. My sister asked for a $20.00 gift certificate for the boys to purchase with their own money! He told her "no have to buy $25.00." So my sister had to come up with $5.00 of her own money. What??? Who does that to small kids? I don't care if they wanted to get a $8.00 gift card money is money. Plus that salon always over books. I've waited 40 minutes before even with an appointment. the pedi part was good. don't waste the extra money on the scrub like we did, but the rest was fine. now to the issue. 3 of us went in for pedicures. i was getting mani/pedi and my friends got full sets. mary was done w her pedi and getting prepped for her full set. she realized they were prepping for a basic manicure and she explained that's not what she wrote down or requested and she apologized to the "professional" for the confusion. she was then treated with rudness like it was her fault and told to wait. the man who ended up doing her nails scolded her! told her "when you say mani that is not a full set, it's different". she never said that. and she politely told him that and was then asked to wait some more. eventually she did get her nails completed and they looked nice, but she said it was painful and her nails hurt the whole day. my experience was slightly different. i did get my mani. no fake nails for me. but there was no attention to my cuticle or the skin around my nails at all!! that's a big part of a basic manicure. am i wrong? i wasn't just getting my nails painted, i can do that at home. i paid the extra to get french tips. there were bubbles in it and the lines weren't as good as i expected. now for the real kicker... the top coat started chipping away the very day i got them done. the 3rd friend had no issues. 1 out of 3 ain't bad? lol just being honest. read more

I decided to try this place after being dissatisfied with a peer of theirs. I read the reviews first and everything seemed positve. I showed up without an appointment at opening. I was seated fairly quickly and the owner was friendly but pointed out that in the future I should make an appointment on advance because they are always so busy and I was just lucky that day. He told me what he was doing and why. I wasn't thrilled about the disparaging remarks he made about the previous salon I had been visiting but I was pleased with my nails and decided would try them again. Per his advice I made appointments. Future visits were ok, although each time I waited a little longer. The final trip was an appointment I made with a specific tech. I was a few minutes early and made a quick phone call before walked in .....unfortunately behind a gigantic group of women. But I had my appointment for a manicure and they were getting pedicures. Well I ended up waiting almost 50 minutes for my turn even though I had an appointment with a specific person at an arranged time and who I never got to see.
