We contracted American Masonry for a concrete pad installation and to re-pour some cracked and lifted concrete slabs in our backyard. We reached out to many contractors for quotes and information and we decided to go with American Masonry for a few different reasons. American Masonry was by far the most professional and courteous of all the contractors we spoke with. Jamie took the time to understand exactly what we wanted done and provided insight on the correct way to do the job. Top notch coordination and professionalism across the board from everyone I spoke with at this company. The guys were consistently on time and on schedule. They even performed some work that was not part of the original quote which was extremely helpful and saved us a huge amount of time on our project. The site was left clean daily. At the wrap of the job they cleaned the entire area and driveway, which had remenence of some soil from grading another area of our yard (which came from another job unrelated to American Masonry). I highly recommend American Masonry for your general contracting needs. We are very satisfied with the job they did and will reach out to them for any jobs we have in the future. read more

American Masonry exceeded our expectations from start to finish. We expanded our inner wall to reclaim additional ground for planting, and after contacting several masonry companies, Jaime was the only one who answered promptly. His responsiveness, professionalism, and competitive pricing made the choice easy. Throughout the project, Jaime kept us informed at every stage and delivered excellent workmanship. He even went above and beyond by helping us secure free fill dirt to level the newly reclaimed area with our existing yard. If you want reliable service, fair pricing, and quality results, American Masonry is the company to call. Jaime earns our highest recommendation. read more

Jamie and his crew are an amazing group. We have trusted American Masonry with our last 3 big projects: Replacing an old 80 foot horribly weathered wooden fence with a nice sturdy cinder block wall Laying a concrete pad for a shed on our side yard And the demolition and pouring of a new patio Jamie is a trustworthy straight shooter and the work his team produces is top quality. read more

My son needed to do his Eagle Project and he wanted to do something big and impactful for the community. He chose to do a First Responders Tribute and a site at the VC Fire Training facility was chosen to build it. The project involved three statues positioned around a flag on a concrete pad. Jamie from American Masonry was gracious enough to help us with this project as he has done for so many other Eagle scouts in the past. He was very generous with his contacts and knowledge and we knew with him on the team, we could make this project happen. Make it happen we did, and Jamie was the linchpin in its success. His concern and attention to detail turned a dirt pad into a memorial that will last for decades. We could not have done this without him and I highly recommend him and his crew for any masonry work you need to have done. His command of the masonry business and expertise will lead to a finished product that endures for a lifetime. See pics read more

Jamie and his team at American Masonry went above and beyond on our wall project. After we removed a set of trees that had compromised the retaining wall between our neighbors and our yard, they took extra care in completely removing any remaining large roots and repairing our drain pipe that leads to the backyard, that was damaged by the aforementioned trees. This had been our third project with Jamie, and each time it has been a very good experience. read more

We wanted to demo out the old driveway and extend it out with new concrete. Jamie came out right away for a quote and was straightforward and extremely fair with his quote. There was a cancellation and they were able to squeeze us in and we couldn't be more happier. Dawn was amazing and responded right away to our endless questions. Jamie's crew was absolutely great and worked extremely hard on our project. My husband ended up changing the plans a few times and they were flexible with us because they just wanted to make sure we were happy with the project. There was excellent communication from start to finish and I'm so glad we trusted Jamie and his team with our concrete work. Jamie suggested a band around the driveway and it turned out absolutely beautiful. It has been the talk of our neighborhood. American Masonry is amazing!! read more

We highly recommend American Masonry. Jamie Gerritsen and his crew are impressive craftsmen. We needed replacement of a 100' retaining wall and a 70' planter wall. The labor intensive demolition of the existing walls was done in a timely manner and we are very happy with the finished product. American Masonry is honest, fair and courteous. We look forward to Jamie helping us with another project in early 2021. read more

We had 2 small areas that we wanted to fill with concrete and saw that American Masonry was doing some work across the street. I called and made an appointment to get a quote. Jamie (owner) came by a few days later to measure. I had a written estimate the next day which we accepted and the job was completed in one full day the following week. Excellent communication and execution by the entire team. Would highly recommend. read more

We recently hired American Masonry to rebuild a block wall and pour some concrete pads in our back and side yard. We had contacted three contractors with good Yelp reviews to come and look at the job and give us estimates. Jamie, the owner responded promptly and came out to our home. When we discussed the tasks we needed done, he understood the issues and it was apparent he had the experience to do the job. I was happily surprised when his estimate turned out to be the low bid among the three we received. Even though it was raining off and on, his crew was able to demolish about 85 feet of existing slump stone wall and footing and get the prep done efficiently. We had a couple of additional items we asked for during the process and we always received our change orders promptly by email. The crew showed up on time, were polite and respectful and took pride in their work. At one point, Jamie felt the cap blocks on one section of wall were not up to his standards and he popped off a whole section and had his crew redo the work. We are quite happy with the new wall, the shortened planter wall and 3 concrete pads they poured and would definitely use them again for masonry and concrete work. They were a pleasure to work with. read more

Jamie Gerritsen and his crew did a great job. The concrete outside the wooden gate was rising due to the trees planted by the homeowners' association. We could not close the gate due to the different elevations. Jamie came by, evaluated the situation and gave us the correct solution to the problem. He said we needed to remove the concrete where it was uplifted by the tree roots, placed re-bar enforcement, re-pour the concrete, and match the cement color to the surrounding area. His estimate was reasonable, able to complete the job in a short time. They also trimmed the invading roots. The area looks great! read more

Hands down, best group of guys! Honest, fair, professional. I will always throw any business their way because I can say with confidence that American Masonry and the staff are amazing! read more

This was one of the most professional businesses I have worked with. The work was outstanding and priced well. They cleaned up after each job day. We are extremely pleased with the final results. read more

We and the neighbors behind wanted a common block wall. Jamie @ American Masonry was contacted, came by the next morning to survey the site, and prepared a quote. Pleased with the price we saw no need to get competitive bids. Stay away from this company at all costs. This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had dealing with a company. American Masonry (Jamie Gerritsen) was hired to remove the existing brick and cement from the property, including a cinder block wall and the pool coping, install 2 new patios and pool coping with Pennsylvania Blue Multi-Color slate, a stamped concrete driveway with slate ribbons, a concrete slab for pool equipment, and a concrete slab for a hot tub for a cost of $41,176. The job was estimated to be done in 4 weeks and, during the 7th week, Jamie and his crew walked off the job with approx. 40% of the work still not completed, even though we had already paid him over $33,000. After he walked off the job, Jamie put a Mechanic's Lien on our house for the outstanding balance even though he didn't finish the work, and sent us a Cease and Desist Letter saying he would sue us for defamation of character and slander if we were to post any bad reviews. We filed a lawsuit against American Masonry for the amount we over paid and our lawyer had the Mechanic's Lien removed; however, PRIOR TO GOING TO COURT, Jamie filed bankruptcy and listed us as a creditor. This is the type of character you will be dealing with if you hire American Masonry. First, on the day the job was to begin, Jamie arrived with no crew. He said the crew he was going to use was too expensive and he wanted to go in a different direction. Two days later, 3 guys arrived with a rented Bobcat and stood in front of the property reading the instructions on how to use it. When they started the demo, they had to ask me what to do since Jamie didn't go over the job with them. During the demo, the disposal company refused to pick up the bins in the street because American Masonry (AM) didn't pay them and Jamie's crew didn't keep track of how many bins were used. AM contacted me to try to figure it out and, from that point forward, I had to pay the disposal company out of my own pocket so they would pick up the bins. When laying the slate, Jamie refused to buy all of the multi-colored slate up front, as you should with anything multi-color, so the colors don't match in all of the areas. Later, he accused me of wanting all the slate up front because he thought I wanted to stiff him on the costs, even though we had already over paid him for the work done. When Jamie's "crew" were laying the first patio, it was evident they didn't know what they were doing. I called Jamie to let him know his guys only laid 3 stones in 8 hrs and Jamie proceeded to scream at me on the phone and told me that I should just fire him. His girlfriend called me later to apologize for Jamie's actions. The next morning, Jamie finally came to the location and when I approached him to talk with him, he started yelling again saying mornings were when he likes to relax and meditate and I need to leave him alone. After the 1st patio was done (2 weeks later), Jamie decided to hire outside workers to do the remaining stone work. Jamie also went behind my back and directly contacted my pool man to ask him if he could get somebody to do the pool coping since Jamie wasn't comfortable doing it. Why would he take on the job if he couldn't do it? When they poured the driveway, Jamie's Office Manager sent me an email asking me to pay all of the workers directly that day. She admitted that we had already paid more than we should at that point but we wouldn't have to pay anything else until the job was complete. So, we did. Later, when they were getting more stone, his worker asked if I was supposed to pay for it. I told him we were told we weren't supposed to pay for anything else until the job was completed. Then, Jamie called me screaming that we were trying to get out of paying and he walked off the job, even though we had over paid at this point for the work completed. To top it off, before walking off of the job, Jamie had his crew seal the patio that they laid to show us what it would look like and to see if we wanted them to seal all of the stone when it was finished. A few days later, the stone looked splotchy. Apparently, they didn't let the stone dry long enough before applying sealer and they used the wrong type of sealer for that stone. When I told Jamie about the problem, he responded with "Well, I didn't charge you for it." We had to hire somebody to remove the sealer but it required a deep cleaning and now, the stone is damaged. We need to replace that entire patio in the next year. We had to hire new workers to complete the job and they discovered that Jamie's crew did not remove all of the cement on the property. They removed a top layer in the back and covered the rest with dirt. So, we had to pay to have the excess removed. Also, we had other masons come assess the work and they told us to keep an eye on the driveway because it looks like Jamie didn't float the rebar (it was sticking out of the sides where you could see). read more

Prompt. Thorough. Informative. Making sure they get it right. The guys from American Masonry were all of these things. We had a pretty major job. 2,000 Sq Ft of stamped concrete. They pulled it off without a hitch and we couldn't be more pleased with the result. The quality of their work has easily raised the property value by as much as the work cost and then some. read more

American Masonry has performed two jobs for us. First a new driveway. The crew was professional, polite, clean, and it turned out great. Then a year later we hired them to come again to build a short brick wall in the front yard. We watched them do the work, and it was all done with precision and care with the use of a level and plenty of measuring. I would be happy to refer their workmanship. read more

I just had some work completed by this company and felt compelled to write a review. I had contacted about 5 other masonry companies at the same time and hands down, this company started with great customer service from the get go. From the first appointment (on time) for the quote and through the entire process, Jaimie (the owner) was thorough and honest. He went over and beyond the work he quoted and Dawn in the office was always there to help. We had a portion of our retaining wall extended, parkway cemented, driveway widened and a pad for a new hot spa. If you want an honest, punctual, quality and reliable masonry....I'd highly recommend Jaime and his crew!!!! Thank you American Masonry! read more

We received quotes from 4 companies and American Masonry was one of the least expensive. Normally I would be concerned about the bottom bidder and expect hidden costs but I liked how patient and thorough Jamie was during our estimate process. Jamie offered us a lot of suggestions based on his experience and I'm so glad we listened. Our backyard now has much better drainage, a great looking slab of concrete, and he even fixed our gate! His crew were prompt, courteous, and meticulous! I am more than pleased with how everything turned out and would highly recommend them to my friends and family! read more

American Masonry was the 5th contractor I contacted and the first one to to respond promptly, courteously, and very professional.. I had a quote within days and great follow through on their part. And were able to get it done ahead of schedule! What more can you ask for! read more

American Masonary just completed a slump stone wall project for us and both my wife and I are very happy with the way it turned out. First of all, we had 3 estimates and although American Masonary was not the lowest, we were impressed with Jamie's professionalism and his responsiveness. We received his estimate via email within a day as promised. The other 2 companies had to be called and followed up. American Masonary was the only company where I could call with questions and have someone live to answer most of the time and if I had to leave a message, I would get a response that same day. Most importantly, their work is top quality, very satisfied with the outcome! Our next step is to install a gate and we are going with a company Jamie recommended. read more
