This is hands-down the best breakfast spot in Lompoc! If you sit in the back you can wash them as they make your food.

Everything (food, service, ambiance) is good. Not great, not bad, just good. Coffee could be better. Often crowded on Sundays.

Fast to go, good friendly service! Grand scramble is out of this world and the biscuits and gravy are the best in town!!! They have chicken tortilla soup once a week and it is very flavorful! The service was great! The prices are very affordable. The food you get in relation to the amount of food is sufficient. The quality of food is good. I ordered the chuck ground patty with eggs and hash browns with sourdough toast. The patty was a pre-formed hamburger patty that I'm sure they use for their lunch burgers which was disappointing. When I think of a ground chuck patty I think of a fresh hand formed patty that breaks up easy and full of flavor. Although the pre formed frozen patty was seasoned well, the frozen taste of the burger can't be overlooked. It was flavorful but over cooked and tough. We love coming here when we are too lazy to cook breakfast at home. Nothing offered is outside the realm of most people's cooking skills but it's sure nice to have the option to have someone else make it for you! This is primarily a breakfast/lunch place. I have never ordered a lunch here and can only vouch for the breakfast items. The portions are usually pretty large. I have consistently received good service as well. The diner itself is a bit old looking with mostly patriotic themed bric-brac decor. It's a comfy place to eat and has no pretense of being an establishment for "fine dining". On this recent trip I ordered a spinach scramble. Melted jack cheese, spinach, eggs, tomato chunks and mushrooms. So delicious. Came with a side of toast and I subbed the usual home fries for fruit. Had the day off so I decided to eat a late breakfast at this local, casual breakfast spot this morning. Been a few times before and the food has always been solid. Was greeted and seated right away by friendly wait staff. I opted for the outside patio area to enjoy the sunny Central Coast weather. Ordered the "American Host Breakfast" consisting of 4 pancakes (I added blueberries), bacon, 2 eggs over-medium, and hash browns. The whole meal was good, but the pancakes were the best I've had in a while. They were light & fluffy and served with fresh blueberries. The hash browns had nice crisp outer layers and wasn't too greasy. Coffee was better than in the past, but just OK; a bit too weak for me. I like that they serve it in an individual carafe which keeps it hot throughout the meal. The waitress provided excellent service by checking in on me a few to make sure everything was good; even got my check without waiting. And when I went to pay, the owner and staff again seemed genuinely interested in how my breakfast was. Did I mention the prices are reasonable too? Bottom line: If you're looking for a good classic American breakfast with friendly hometown American service, then I recommend a stop on in. I am definitely looking forward to my next trip back. Great place for a heavy brunch! They do have lighter options, but if too need a heavy meal after a Saturday night, this is a great option lol. There were indoor and outdoor seating available. The wait on a Sunday at around 12:30pm was about 10 minutes. It's not on the Main St. so it's a nice little hidden gem. I got the chicken and waffles, and it was amazing! If you are looking for fresh food made from scratch with fresh ingredients, this isn't a place I would recommend. If you have allergies, this is DEFINITELY not a safe place to eat at. They don't know what is made with what because the majority of their offerings are either frozen or boxed so if you have an allergy, they aren't able to tell you what items are safe. Aside from that, the food wasn't good and you can go to the grocery and buy boxed pancake and waffle mix and go to the frozen aisle, grab the pre-breaded chicken and you will have accomplished the same thing. While I understand that this is great food for some, it's definitely not something I'd ever want to eat again. Cracker Barrel is a much better option if you are willing to drive to Santa Maria The one thing I will say is that I think it's negligent to not know what your food ingredients contain and to not do your due diligence to make sure eating at your restaurant isn't a life or death situation for your patrons. I found American Host because of Yelp! I was looking for a good breakfast spot to eat at in Lompoc. Wow! What a great find!! My companion and I came here early on Sunday morning around 9-10 am. It was worried there would be an hour or so wait, but we were lucky enough that the restaurant wasn't too packed. After we finished eating however, there was a few people waiting for tables! Anyway, when you get to your table, there are already coffee cups there for everyone in case you want coffee. If you do, you turn your coffee cup over. We were waited on fairly quick, I ordered the French Toast with sausage and eggs. We also got the Banana waffle special of the day which came with Bananas, caramel, walnuts, and whipped cream $8ish. Both dishes came out fast, both dishes were excellent. The sausage was well made and they were thick and juicy. The eggs came out well, and I liked that the French toast was made with cinnamon raisin bread. You have the choice of either having it with cinnamon raisin and some other type of bread but I forgot what it was... but getting it with raisins was good to chop on while you dipped it in butter and syrup. Now the banana waffle, it was amazingly good, so good I wish I had ordered it myself so it could be all mine. The walnuts added the perfect amount of crunch to the banana and waffle combination and the caramel and whipped cream made it perfect. What a great dish if only I could have it again. I would have ordered it myself, if I didn't always want eggs and meat with my breakfast. Luckily I didn't have to order it, but I could take bites out of it. Best bacon in Lompoc. And trust me, my piggy faced older sister is the judge and jury on this one folks. She knows. Prices recently went up, but it's still a great greasy spoon in this po-dunk town. Just make sure you get there early before you're forced to wait more than half a hour. Added bonus, if you come at 6:30 am, all the honky farmers are here eating while their migrant workers are in the fields. Extra bonus tip: bring coffee from Starbucks.
