For me this AC does a good job. I primarily use them for my shirts and slacks. I'll admit when it comes to my clothes, I'm high maintenance. I separate my shirts in separate piles, for different starch levels and those shirts I want dry cleaned. They've never gotten them mixed up and they are always done well. I also bring in all of my dress and casual slacks. On occasion, I have brought in jeans to have them heavily starched. As I've stated before, I wish they'd do a light starch on my Docker's. When needed, they've also done an excellent job on my suits and sport coats. AC use to only take cash or check and now they take debit and credit cards. To be honest, this use to be the only place I wrote checks. Being someone who does a lot of dry cleaning, I am thankful they send out coupons on the regular. If I run out, I can also print them out on the company website. I'll be back? - Almost every 10 days. When: Way to often. Why: Gotta look good. read more

Men's 100% silk neck scarf ruined. They ran it through a machine. Upon return, it had a long rip down the center. Ellen, "customer service," only wanted to pay $6.00 for the damage. (636.227.8299) Cleaning the scarf cost $10.00. $6.00 was the credit from spending $42.00 November 17, 2025. So her logic was to take back the $6.00 credit. Ellen did offer to mail me a $6.00 check, but wanted to talk with the accountant first. $6.00 does not accurately reflect the actual value, nor adhere to the standards outlined in the DRYCLEANING & LAUNDRY INSTITUTE (DLI) FAIR CLAIMS GUIDE. I retrieved the scarf and will wear it as a reminder of the terrible service and waste of hard-earned money. AND Will never, ever, never, ever, never, ever, never, ever, never, never, never, never... deal with them again! American Cleaners 7501 Delmar 314.862.1313 read more

I would highly suggest not getting alterations done here . Then they made me get my item dry clean a second time before getting alterations so the price was ridiculous , all for this sloppy work ! Baffled ! Won't be returning ! And the staff are very unfriendly ! Never will you here a good morning , they just snatch your items from the counter and get to sitting up how much ur items will be . Don't trust the negative reviews! American Cleaners is a kind and satisfactory establishment. They have removed the toughest stains from my clothes including engine oil and chocolate. All with a friendly attitude. I even lost my ticket once and the found my clothing no problem. The perfect place for dry cleaning. read more

I. AM. FURIOUS!!! I've only had clothing cleaned 3 times from American Cleaners (2 of the 3 times I dropped off sweaters). Both times my sweaters were ruined!!!!! And both times I REITERATED more than once to NOT HANG MY SWEATERS!!!! They assured me that it will not happen. Ask me what happened??? THEY HUNG THEM!!! One of them was a cashmere Banana Republic sweater. Warm and EXPENSIVE might I add. Completely RUINED. How do you ruin 3 sweaters?? Who even hangs sweaters on wire hangers?! When I called to speak with the manager Dede this morning, she nonchalantly and carelessly apologies and says to bring the sweaters in so they can be taken to customer service. What are they gonna do? Put the sweaters on to see what I'm talking about? If I am not reimbursed, I will not hesitate to contact BBB. I will not let this go. Please save yourself money and time and stay away from this place! read more

American Cleaners - One of the sweaters ruined - Laundry Services Near Me - St. Louis, Missouri

Terrible costumer service and poor cleaning. I brought four blouses into there store. Three came back damaged with new stains, and one with subpar cleaning. The store front told me conflicting policies then costumer service, and still made me pay for it. Ruin a shirt and still make you pay for the cleaning. Talked to John on the phone and he said that I could send my clothes to costumer service to be "reassessed", but can't solve any problems or give any refunds. Shirts could be returned in 5-7 days. Terrible service, poor policies, uneducated store front, lack of knowledge/through cleaning. Below are pictures of one shirt with water stains caused by their cleaning.Evident they have to many stores and can't control quality or customer service. read more

I will never. EVER. Come to this cleaners again. I dropped off 2 formal dresses on Saturday, and arranged to pick them up the following week. Over the weekend, my cleaner ticket got lost, thrown away, dog ate it...etc. who knows?? That, I'll admit, is totally my bad. I was irresponsible. However, when I arrived at the cleaners on Tuesday (to an empty building except for employees) and explained that I didn't have my ticket, the woman looked at me like I spit in her face. I was apologetic, but it didn't seem to matter. The response I got was a very nasty, "Well, we're really busy. I'll have to look through all the clothes." Busy? There's not a single person here??? I asked if they organize them in any other way. Alphabetically or by phone number? I gave both my name and my number when dropping the items off. Apparently not. After waiting about 25 minutes for her to look and periodically check out other patrons who had their tickets, which I was totally ok with, she found my garments. I apologized again and thanked her, but the only other words she said to me was "That'll be $23.50." I gave her the money and she took it, deposited it in the register, turned around, and walked away. I have NEVER experienced worse customer service. Yes, I understand it was my fault for forgetting my ticket, but the attitude and rudeness I received in return was seriously uncalled for. I gave them 2 stars because a.) I actually got my clothes back, thankfully, and b.) they were clean Even though this place is convenient location-wise, I will absolutely never go back. Shame on this business for their terrible customer service. read more

I've only used this dry cleaners a couple times because, as Mitch Headburg used to say "This shirt is dry-clean only...which means it's dirty." Just kidding, kinda, but anyways.... American Cleaners has 2 HOUR DRY CLEANING! They also send out really good coupons in the mail, so keep yours eyes open for them. Also, heads up- I'm also pretty sure they don't take credit cards. read more

Ugh. Have all the dry-cleaners in STL banded together to be equally unappealing? My biggest complaint is that they don't take credit cards. Or debit cards. Or checks. Cash only. Which I hardly understand, given that anywhere from the dollar store to McDonald's will take them no problem. Heck even my lawn guy does, and I can pay online to boot! And it'd be one thing if the cost was dirt cheap, but my last bill was $34 so... Anyway, the dry-cleaning quality is adequate, the service pitiful... On the bright side they have plenty of parking? Like a whole lot of parking, 20+ spots. tl;dr - meh, but unfortunately the best you'll find in the neighborhood read more

WORST. DRY. CLEANERS. EVER. I took some silk draperies there that my old cat had messed and they said they'd try - okay. It was worth a shot. Got them back - NOTHING ! The draperies were still wrinkled from where they hit the floor - HAD NOT EVEN TRIED TO CLEAN THEM! NOT THE SLIGHTEST EFFORT! When I called them, a lady directed me to their "cleaning facility" at a 636 area code and the guy who answered was rude and insolent. Told me cat urine is "almost impossible to remove" and "the smell rarely comes out even if the stain comes out"...really????? Good news - hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and dishwashing liguid got rid of BOTH the stain and smell ... DON'T USE THEM - unprofessional and incompetent read more

I wish I could put zero stars this company should be out of business. They damage four pair of designer jeans of mine that cost $250 to $350 a pair they have had them for 2 weeks know claiming that they are fixing them because what ever machine they use to press them smashed all my buttons. When I called and spoke with a lady named Sandy today she said that she is the top person over the company that I could speak with about it in a very nasty tone and I will get my pants when they are done.SMH read more

Stay away from this dry cleaner. They stained 3 of my dress shirts in the same place and I gave them multiple opportunities to fix it. To the dry cleaners credit, they fixed 2 out of 3, but enough is enough. They also did a horrible job of pressing my shirts on my last pick up. STAY AWAY!!!!! read more

Just watched them tell a poor man in front of me that his shirt wasn't ready and he would need to come back tomorrow. And them the minute he walked out the door said to the other worker... Attempted to experiment with this notoriously bad chain, and brought in a $19 dress shirt to see how it turned out? Literally, they burned and crushed each button on my the front of my shirt...they were barely hanging on the thread. I said nothing to the college kid, paid my bill, and walked out. Reliable and fast when you ask for quicker turnaround. Staff are friendly enough. Coupons are available on a regular basis.

First and last time I go to American Cleaners. My dress was damaged and had to be sent off for repair, and I was still charged full price for the cleaning of it. Even though my phone number was taken down when the dress was sent off for repair, I had to call two weeks later to see if the dress was in. Tammy (sp?) answered the phone, and when it took me 20 seconds to retrieve my ticket, she rudely said "Listen, ma'am I have another call." And abruptly hung up on me. Expensive, damaged clothes, terrible customer service. read more

People always overreact on their reviews, but I just had a very nice, tailored blue dress shirt ruined by this place and they essentially washed their hands of it. The collar was burned and its now unwearable. Their customer service said there was something on the collar like aftershave or cologne that when heated it drains the color out and cant be fixed. I dont wear either of those things, and isnt the point of taking your clothes to a cleaner to be CLEANED? They didnt offer any type of compensation for this either, even though when i took it in it was fine, when i got it back its unwearable. Never going back, I'd rather wear dirty clothes from now on. read more

LADIES: This "dry cleaner" will LAUNDER your clothing if they possibly can (presumably they'll dry clean, say, cashmere, silk, etc., but I wouldn't count on it). They ruined an expensive black-and-tan shirt of mine (which was obviously a ladies garment--not that a man would want a faded shirt, either). It's gray and nubbly now, not black and smooth. I didn't wear it right away after I got it back, and by then I had no receipt or ticket number. Then my husband dropped off a dress of mine along with his shirts. It was a pretty red-plaid shirtdress that I really liked. And a dry cleaner wouldn't launder a dress, would they?? I put it on one day for a special occasion and found that they had shrunk and faded it. There goes another wad of cash. Thanks, guys. If I'd wanted my clothing washed in *water*, I would have washed it myself. But I didn't. That's why I took it to a *dry* cleaner. read more

Going here for years, yet will never be back. They RUINED a brand new sweater of mine and the CS Manager was so very rude about it. I told her I didn't expect anything just wanted her to be aware. Yet she was repeatedly rude and condensending about it. Told me it was the manufactures fault, acted as if I was lying, and told me I didn't know how the sweater shoud fit. Yikes! Not sure Ellen is in the correct position and understands that the Customer Comes First Rule. The way she spoke to me was unbelieveable. Bye, American! Avoid this place at all costs!!! I would give it one start if I could. I dropped a dress off and when they returned it there was blue ink all over it. When I took it back in the person behind the counter said they would send it to their customer care department and they would either get it out or they would call me. Well no one called so when I went to pick it up, assuming it was fixed, it was still stained with the initial stains PLUS a huge water stain! After calling their customer care line (who was extremely nice), she said she hadn't even heard of me or seen my dress which means they didn't even send it off, but just tried to get it out on their own!!! Customer service here is terrible and clothes end up worse than when you brought them in. Pay the extra money and go somewhere else!! It's worth it. read more

Same complaint as Ryan S. Buttons broken or missing on every visit and no accountability of resolving. Another customer loss for American Cleaners. read more

Continued to see broken buttons on expensive shirts; no matter if they were laundered or dry cleaned. Staff attempted to charge for replacing/repairing such, and became confrontational while refusing to accept accountability. They forget that they are in the customer service business, and there are several other options in the area. Taking my $25/week business elsewhere; even if it costs me more with longer lead times. read more

Fourth shirt ruined by these people (shame on us for going back). They always claim it was somehow our fault (most recent hole that was there when we picked up a brand new shirt) - "must've been a bug eating it" What???? We're done. Lousy cleaners/lousy service. read more

One Star is too much for this dry cleaners. The customer service is horrible! They request hangers from customers, but then don't even say "thank you" when you bring a bunch of them in. Last time I was in there the place smelled bad! All of the people with any customer service skills have left the place, the new people are horrible. They can't even add! It takes them 4 times as long to write up tickets. I guess this dry cleaners doesn't care about the quality of people they hire. I will go somewhere else from now on even though this place is convenient. read more

One star may be a to high of a rating for this place. While the customer service may be friendly here, I can't exactly say their cleaning practices are competent. I brought in a delicate beaded sweater in excellent condition that I have only worn a handful of times over the past couple years. I made them very aware that this was a fragile garment and that I understood it required more care and that I knew I would pay more than the standard "plain garment" coupon price. Despite this, they not only ruined my garment (it was returned with the beading unraveling and the material, well, practically disintegrated) they did not even make mention of the damage when I picked it up, nor after speaking to customer service was I offered ANY COMPENSATION WHATSOEVER. I wasn't even given an apology. Awful service all around. DON"T BRING ANYTHING OF ANY VALUE here if you want it to come back in the condition you dropped it off in. read more
