Once you disarm these prickly ladies with niceness, you realize that they are nothing but good natured, efficient people just trying to do their jobs. Upon dropping off your item(s), auto texts are instantly sent acknowledging receipt of your item, payment and anticipated pickup date. My grandmother doesn't speak much english but needed some assistance with a jumpsuit and while we did not end up getting it tailored (due to their excellent recommendations) I really appreciate how patient they were with us. I can sing the praises of vinny a million times over. I was in the biggest bind for my best friends wedding my dress was destroyed the day before the wedding I had to run out purchase a new one and vinny altered it for me at 7:30 am the day of the wedding within 2 hrs and had me on my way upstate to the wedding. This place is truly amazing. They do excellent work with great prices. The owner is super friendly, professional and really takes time to get to know his customers. Another great local business in my neighborhood. These guys do a great job, and they get it done quickly and on time...more than I can say for many cleaners I've used over the years. Never had any issues(lost clothes, poor cleaning/pressing, etc.) with them....always just super clean, very well pressed clothes when I need them. Their prices seem a touch higher than other places I've used in the past, but it's worth it for the service. This place is ok. So far I have no complaints about the service. They are usually pleasant. My clothes come back clean with no damages.

All I have to say is THANK GOD I found this place! About 6 weeks before a wedding I noticed my bridesmaid dress was about 2 sizes too small and wasn't zipping up, and due to covid the bridal shop we ordered from closed down. I was super stressed thinking my only option was to lose weight or else.... and a bunch of seamstresses denied me when I asked if they can add fabric to the back of my dress due to timing, etc. I finally found American Cleaners & Tailors (I call them my heros lol!) when I told them my situation they said easy peasy and let me know they can make a corset panel in the back with no problem. Even better, I let them know I wanted to try losing some weight anyway, and they told me I can see how much weight I lose and bring the dress back to them as little as 10 days before the wedding and they'll have it ready for me. I ended up losing the weight and not needing the added fabric, but just the fact that they were so accommodating and willing to do this for me was everything! They hemmed the bottom of my dress and stretched the back part a bit, and it came out absolutely perfect. I couldn't thank them enough for their eagerness to help, and how comfortable they made me feel in the process. They are the sweetest people and really know what they are doing! 10 stars! read more

I am forced to give one star by Yelp. However, this place deserves ZERO! First, they butchered my peacoat, then it took them over 3 months to get the coat fixed and back to me. I had a million and one excuses from the owner as to why it had not been fixed yet. I took my Uggs there that was only 5 months old hardly wore it just needed a little dusting to store away for the summer and they completely ruin my boots It's all scratched up and look like it's been thru 5 winters and it took them almost 6 months to return it and charged me $50 to destroy my boots. I have a interview on Monday morning and I needed a same service dry cleaners for my uniform. I called a couple of cleaners. The gentleman that answered the phone to this cleaners was very nice and pleasant. I asked him do you do same day cleaning and what time do I have to bring the clothes in by? The gentleman on the phone said just bring it right in, I'm like ok. I brought my uniform in for same day service about 9:30am. The gentleman at the counter was very nice and pleasant. That stood out to me because it's very rare nowadays and especially during this virus epidemic. He asked for my contact number and told me that I would get a text when my clothes were ready, I was wow and very impressed. The gentleman said his name was Vinnie and said nice to meet me and thanked me for my business. I received a text about 2:45pm that my clothes were ready. American Cleaners is absolutely the best dry cleaners in the Bronx. I do not live in the neighborhood and travel to American Cleaners as they do a great job on my clothes. Vinny and his staff are friendly, very accommodating and will do same day service or next day service when requested. My clothes are always clean, pressed and ready on time. I went here as a recommendation for a dress alteration and they seemed really nice and great, at first. I only needed a little taken in and the hem taken up slightly so it should have been an easy job. They did the alterations pretty quickly which was good but when i went to pick my dress up IT DIDN'T FIT!! It couldn't be zipped up which was absolutely ridiculous. They tried to be accomodating even though it was completely their fault. Thankfully they were able to stretch it which helped tremendously, or so i thought. The week of the wedding i try the dress on and it's back to when they first altered it. Apparently when the dress sits for awhile it goes back, that would've been great to know as i could've made it a point to wear it a little everyday or i could've brought it in sooner. I call wednesday (the wedding being friday) and i explained this, I asked if i could bring the dress in that afternoon and have it stretched, i was told to bring it thursday instead as being closer to the wedding would be a better idea. I felt relief but that didn't last long. I drove all the way out of my way to bring it back and the person who does it isn't in and they want to keep it overnight! HELLO the wedding is the next day i cant do that, i would've brought it in the wednesday for that. Needless to say i'm completely frustrated and upset. Not only did they originally screw up and not offer any money back but they screw me over again after i tried giving them the benefit of the doubt. They might be great when it comes to cleaning clothes and getting stains out but don't waste time and money and bring them things to alter unless you're really careful or plan to stop eating until you need the dress. I'm extremely disappointed and stressed out and want to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else! read more
