The salon was clean and there were so many color choices. Not super friendly staff but that was fine since I was with a friend.I got a no chip manicure. It was fast but they did not follow all the steps I've had with other no chips and it was a little sloppy (they did however fix a nail that wasn't up to snuff which was appreciated). Wish they would have taken their time a little more as there was no wait. At the end I tried to use the 20% off check in and they wouldn't accept it for some reason. A little frustrating. read more

I want to like this place so much because it's so close to my house, but unfortunately the polish they use is terrible. I first went here about a year ago and did the no chip which chipped at the end of the first week, but I was traveling and couldn't go in to have them fix it. I have it a try again a few weeks ago and got a regular French on my toes and just buffed my finger nails and the French on my toes had lines and chips all over by the 5th day in winter when I've had socks on. The worst part about it is I was in Florida when I noticed and had to walk around in sandals with a terrible cracking paint job. Luckily you had to look closely to see, but considering I splurged on the nice pedicure with scrubs and walked out paying $80 this was not ok. Wish I would've checked on yelp to use a coupon for this one! As for the buff on my finger nails, they weren't even shiny, I would have been better off doing it all myself. The only reason they got any stars is because the pedicure chair was comfortable, the nail tech was nice and they gave me nice hot green tea. read more

Go somewhere else, is my advice. I went in for a dip manicure and a no chip pedicure. I had dip polish on that was several weeks old. The nail technician that worked with me (I think she may have been the owner and/or manager) immediately started to use the electric file to buffer down the nails and cut one of my fingers which immediately started bleeding. Only after cutting me did she check to see which nails were loose, needed more or less filing, etc. Another finger ended up getting nicked but thankfully didn't bleed. The dip polish application was mediocre. I got a French manicure with black tips and some of the black powder bled into the pink. It all looked kind of grainy. The top coat was a gel top coat and not the corresponding dip top coat. It's about 5 days later now and the gel top coat is peeling. At the end of the manicure, no oil or lotion was applied at all. She just told me to wash my hands which looked just as dry as when I walked in. Never have I had a nail technician skip putting on lotion. Oh, and did I mention that the lady answered the phone about 4-5 times while doing my nails??? She tried to hold a conversation but half listened so when she asked me a question about my daughter I was confused because I don't have a daughter and had just told her I had sons. I paid for a higher level pedicure that included exfoliation. My calves and ankles got exfoliated but my feet were barely touched. So, I came in with crusty heels and left with the same level of crust. The polish and toe nail shaping were nice, however. I'm not returning. Need I say more? read more

I am a returning black customer today Sept 30. when I came in the manager greeted me with an ABRASIVE tone and thick Asian accent asking if I had an appointment as though they operated by appointment only. after a short wait she directed me to a spot. a very nice Latino woman came to perform my pedicure and did a great job. but before she finished my last coat, same said manager rudely interrupted and told her to assist the White customer sitting next to me. Manager finishes my pedicure and was obviously distracted with making sure all the white customers were getting served. then that same manager GRABBED MY PURSE and told me to follow her to the register and REFUSED to add the tip on my credit card. I did not say or do anything to justify this behavior. meanwhile another black male customer who had an appointment had been waiting for some time while this same manager seated other walk in white customers. AGAIN BLATANT HOSTILITY to people of color. I just got my feet done here and the service was GARBAGE. Their people skills SUCK. First off when I called to make the appointment the lady was rude and when I let her know the time she made a remark "mmm" and questioned me about my time and was trying to rush me off the phone and then just hung up. I know it's a holiday weekend and droves of women need fancy talons but I was really sad driving home from this busy salon and my bloody cuticles are hurting as I type. I feel torn because the owner Emily does excellent work but I don't have as much experience with the other staff. Emily's nail game is on point (like 35 min full set fast) and always remembers just how I like my nails shaped and does an outstanding job! However, after going there relatively frequently I feel consistency is lacking. I've had a few other employees do my nails and they don't seem to have the same level of skill. The tech that did my nails today gave me a really ummm unusual experience. She ignored my request for wide square nails and I ended up with lopsided rounded lumpy gel for $50 + tip (because nails are a laborious process for the techs so I always tip despite the outcome). I'm also a bit shy about saying anything more than once because I feel awkward and have been told weird statements like "your finger is crooked, not nail" To make matters worse several of my cuticles were cut and bleeding. Towards the end of my full pink and white set of gels I asked the woman if she could take out the bubbles and she asked if I knew how to work the UV light and promptly left and never came back. So I filed out the bubbles, touched up the polished, and cured my nails myself... tech never to be seen again. I SERIOUSLY FINISHED MY OWN NAILS. I'm just really hoping she had some sort of personal emergency to justify leaving?! Bad seafood, runaway child, pet death? I hope it was important. Oh well, at least I am now an experienced nail tech. Anyone want a mani? read more

This is my new nail salon and I am loving it! It's the little things that I find so impressive. I love how they use warm lotion to massage and the wide variety of sugar scrubs. American #1 Nails has the look and feel of a SALON, not just a nail shop. I got my pedicure and nails done by Melissa (pedi) and Ken (nails). Both lasted a full three weeks! I would not recommend this place if you want quality service. My first and last visit for a set of gel and pedicure, they lady did my pedicure was not friendly and she did a really poor job. My nails were not even they were too wide they looked horrible. I wasted $75 dollars of my hard earn cash in this place. Another lady name Lyn came over to fixed them, after this other lady messed them up so badly, which took additional hour but the damage was done. The manager offer no apologies for the really poor service. Now, I have to go somewhere else to get them fixed. I want a refund for this really bad experience. read more

I am so disappointed with this place. Granted, my nails weren't in the best shape, but I would have thought they would do a better job at trying to make them look better. I got a no chip and the girl, Candice, did such a bad job in my nails. She didn't file them, she said they were too short to file, she didn't even go all the way to the nail bed with the paint. Then, she didn't even give me the massage that is supposed to go along with the manicure. My nails look terrible and I can't believe I had to pay for this. For my pedicure, the guy, Tony, literally made fun of my feet the entire time and talked crap the whole time to Candice about them. I was a regular at this salon. After my last two experiences, I will not return ever. My last time here was particularly frustrating. I went in for a mani-pedi six days ago. I chose my toe color and went to the pedi chair. The nail tech began and everything started out just fine. When she asked me which pedi I wanted, I said just the regular. She seemed extremely annoyed that I wasn't getting the sugar scrub or spa pedi, or anything similar. Nonetheless, the pedi seemed to turn out fine. Went to get the mani next, which I always get regular french. I do not get no-chip because of what it does to my nails. As the nail tech was working on cleaning up my cuticles (which, by the way, she did a poor job on), one of her co-workers came by and they were chatting (could not understand what they were saying). The co-worker then says "Why not get no-chip? Regular chips so quickly!" I told her that I don't like no-chips because of what it does to my nails and regular french actually lasts on me at least 1.5 weeks, if not 2 weeks. They talked a bit more; about what, I have no idea. But I'm fairly certain she told my nail tech to not spend much time on me (it was also close to closing, though NOT after closing). My cuticles are not clean. My white french lines are thin and lop-sided. She did not use the pink polish over the white lines; rather, she just put two layers of clear top coat on (she ignored me when I mentioned). After I left, I noticed beneath the clear coat that she did not even remove all remnants of my last polish, which is now causing my nail polish to completely chip all over (even on the clear coat). I have never felt so rushed and ignored at a nail salon before, and have NEVER gotten the icy treatment from politely turning down someone when they're trying to upsell me. read more

This was my nail salon before I moved to San Diego a month ago. I always had someone different do my pedi and Emily did my pink and white gel manicures. Emily is so fast and yet so pro. My nails were always perfect when I left there and they rarely peeled or chipped before my next appt. They were always able to get me in, even if I called that same day and the few times I botched the paint on my toes, they fixed them, no questions asked. I only use OPI (#nailsnob) and they have every color you can think of. The salon was always clean and the use lotion bottle warmer so the lotion was not a cold shock for the massage. My work travels won't likely take me back close but if I'm ever on the area, I'll absolutely go back for a fill and a pedi. read more

This is one of the best nail salons I have ever been to! It is under new management in the last few months and the new owners have done an amazing job taking over! They have totally remodeled and it looks great. When you walk in, you feel like you are in a nice and VERY clean salon! I have been looking for 6 months for a nail place in this area that I like and I have finally found it! I have tried all the local spot in this area and Americas is by far the best! I love the simple and elegant decor. The hostess is always there when I come in she greets me and gets me set up with a chair ASAP! The nail techs are nice and do wonderful work! My first manicure and pedicure here was a wonderful experience with a long massage for both. The techs are gentle but firm when necessary. I appreciate that they offer to provide a drink when I first come in and carry my purse or coat to my next location when I have wet nails. The atmosphere is relaxing and calming with their music selection. I highly recommend this salon! read more

I really like this nail salon! I've gone here a few times and have always received great service. The prices are really affordable. I've gone to salons that charge almost twice as much for the same quality of work. The inside is relaxing and the stations are well-kept. I like that the pedicure chairs are all next to each other on one side so that you're not staring at someone in a chair across from you. Same thing with the manicure chairs. They have a wide variety of color choices. I've had a little bit of a wait, but they were always on time with the estimate given. The technicians work at a steady pace. Not too rushed to impair quality, but not so slow that it takes up your whole day. It takes me 40 minutes to get to this nail salon, but it's definitely worth the drive. read more

I come here quite often, and when I first came the quality of service was outstanding. However, I am finding that the more I go the quality of service diminishes. Some of the nail technicians are inexperienced and do not deliver the same quality of service as a veteran nail technician. I think that this is resulting in the veteran technicians being overwhelmed and anxious. The best advice is to identify a technician that you like and make an appointment with that technician. This is my first time here, and after seeing the reviews I had great expectations. Unfortunately, I have had a disappointing experience here. I had walked in for a regular manicure and pedicure today afternoon. After my pedicure, I sat down for a manicure. The lady who was doing my nails, asked me if I would like to pay before getting my manicure, as it may be difficult to remove my card from my purse while my nails were freshly done. I was fine with it and handed over my credit card. She came back with the receipt. While signing the receipt, I was kind of puzzled because, there was no place to write down a tip amount. Before I could ask, she started my manicure and finished my manicure in around 5 mins. The filing was done very bad, instead of square nails, I have slanting nails on both my thumbs. I had no hand massage or lotion applied. There were a couple of nail stains around my nails. And also unevenly done nail paint on one of my finger nails. After that I was rushed to the seats where I could dry my hands. Being my first time ever doing a manicure, I wasn't sure how long to be seated there. Before I could ask, she had vanished and never came back. I was sitting there for a good 20 mins! And realized she wouldn't be coming back. And after noticing a couple of the other customers, I realized the reason for the bad service might be because I hadn't tipped her. Firstly, I wasn't aware they accepted only cash tips (and she knew it was my first time there). And irrespective of the tip, If the manicure had come out well. I would have definitely asked them about how to tip etc. And I would have ensured she got her tip as I wouldn't want to not reward a person for their service. But seeing the service, I just walked out. I won't say this is a bad place. But it all depends on who you get to do your nails. Coz some of the other assistants seem to have done a great job for their clients. And also, the 20% discount for 35$ and above for first time customers (which is advertised in yelp) doesn't apply. When I asked about it, no one seemed to have a clue about it nor did they even consider it in spite of showing their ad in yelp. I regularly get mani/pedis and my friend and I were out by her place so we went to her old stand by. Initially I was very impressed. We were greeted quickly and offered something to drink. Nail color selection is large but I felt a bit rushed. When we got their there was only one other person in the salon but after about 10 minutes there were quite a few more and then talking care of me did not seem quite as important. The pedicurist clipped my nails without asking and didn't even ask me what kind of pedicure I wanted. (They have several different options) I have very sensitive skin and the scrub they used on me caused my skin to break out. The manicure on the other hand was good. I can no say I won't go back there but I can't say that I will. read more
