He just happened to be driving by and saw someone that could use some help. He jumped out of his truck and changed my tire in the rain and couldn't have been more pleasant to talk to. Chris is a great dude and is a great reminder that there are awesome people out in the world who just want to help other people.

I couldn't really give much information on where I was because I wasn't sure but Chris arrived again within 20 minutes and had my truck pulled out in five minutes (and again, for very cheap). Said the tow truck would be there in 30 minutes. Sure enough, 30 minutes later, guy pulls up, also super friendly, hooks my VW Golf up in about 60 seconds flat (without making me nervous about scratching, denting, or damaging my car in any way - very smooth maneuverings, he could probably do it with both eyes closed and one hand tied behind his back). I hop in his car - banter a bit - get to my house and he parks it perfectly, with the same amount of ease, gently but swiftly. Awesome. Charges me exactly the distance (2.5 miles) without rounding up. He phones in my credit card. I sign the paper. And am on my merry way. So easy. Towing was almost enjoyable. Not that I would want to have another 'opportunity' to tow my car, but if I have to, I'll be calling Budget again.

Please see google review for additional information, but I will just say that dispatcher Christine did a great job of being forthcoming about who called to have my car impounded. It was a disgruntled resident who did NOT have prior authorization to call a towing company for cars parked in the carport. She was unable to even provide documentation that she herself was allowed to park in the carport. Driver Thomas was unwilling to allow me to resolve this issue with cash, but he drove off without towing once the cops showed up. He did not speak to a LEO and claimed, "It's Easter and I don't want to deal with this." I will be seeking legal counsel to discussion next steps in this process, as the unlawful towing attempt resulting in my car being scraped. Based on the other reviews, this company has a horrible track record in professionalism, service, and fees associated with their services. Of course, I didn't have to pay for the service; it was part of my roadside assistance. My fairly new car seemed to have a problem with the parking brake being seized. I couldn't go anywhere. Hubby suggested I try that OnStar button. The lady who answered told me someone would come tow me to the dealership, only three miles down the road. The driver called when he was a short distance away. I tried to tell him that I required a flatbed trailer to tow my car, since the rear wheel seemed to be seized. He talked a bit too fast for me to hear very well on the telephone. I decided to wait and see what happened. When he got there, he explained to me that the trailer would not fit into a parking lot, and that he had other ways to accomplish the same thing. He had a set of extra wheels that he put under the front of the car, and towed it backward. OK, this will work! He was super-polite. He told me to wait in the truck to stay warm. It was actually too toasty warm for me, so I shucked my coat and hat. We got to the dealership and dropped off the car at the service door. He said we were all done. I had been worried that a tow truck driver would not be able to tow my car properly, but he seemed to be very experienced not only in dealing with the car in need of a tow, but with its driver as well.

I had no idea what was wrong with my car. I explained the issue to the tow driver, who arrived in about an hour's time. He didn't offer any solutions or suggestions, but I was still grateful for his professionalism and timeliness. He also allowed me to ride with him to my home - which was supremely valuable. Saline Automotive Services is located in downtown Saline, just west of the main intersection of Main Street (US-12) and Ann Arbor-Saline Road. Scott is a parts expert. He is great at explaining what's wrong and how to fix it. Since it's a smaller sized shop, don't expect to just show up out of the blue. It's best to call a day or two ahead so that the work can be scheduled. You can leave the car any time--even at night--because there is a drop off box. Inside the box, you'll find an envelope with a pen and a form to explain the symptoms. Put the key in the envelope along with your info and let it slide into the box, where it's safe. Because Saline Automotive shares a parking lot with a church (my church!) they ask that you pick up your car promptly on weekends, since the church might have an event that causes the parking lot to fill to capacity. Insider Tip: Usually, if there is going to be a big event, you'll see a portable sign for it on the front lawn of the church. But not always, so keep that in mind when figuring out when to pick up your car. Saline Automotive doesn't have a shuttle vehicle, but they offer you a loaner car, which might be even better. Scott's prices are awesome. When Goodyear quoted $515, Scott's guys fixed it for $299. I feel very confident that the guys will fix what needs fixing and keep our cars running fine.
