These past couple months have been hell so of course my car dies, too. Then there's the added stress of how to save money while towing the darn thing, and hoping some dude isn't going to try and rip me off because a) I look younger than I am, b) I'm a female, c) I don't have experience towing my car. Budget came through and assuaged all those fears, though. Super friendly and efficient phone operator - quoted me $50 for the hookup, $4 per mile after that. Said the tow truck would be there in 30 minutes. Sure enough, 30 minutes later, guy pulls up, also super friendly, hooks my VW Golf up in about 60 seconds flat (without making me nervous about scratching, denting, or damaging my car in any way - very smooth maneuverings, he could probably do it with both eyes closed and one hand tied behind his back). I hop in his car - banter a bit - get to my house and he parks it perfectly, with the same amount of ease, gently but swiftly. Awesome. Charges me exactly the distance (2.5 miles) without rounding up. He phones in my credit card. I sign the paper. And am on my merry way. So easy. Towing was almost enjoyable. Not that I would want to have another 'opportunity' to tow my car, but if I have to, I'll be calling Budget again. read more

Beware of illegal towing by this company! Driver Thomas attempted to illegally impound my vehicle without any documented evidence that I was parking illegally. Please see google review for additional information, but I will just say that dispatcher Christine did a great job of being forthcoming about who called to have my car impounded. It was a disgruntled resident who did NOT have prior authorization to call a towing company for cars parked in the carport. She was unable to even provide documentation that she herself was allowed to park in the carport. Driver Thomas was unwilling to allow me to resolve this issue with cash, but he drove off without towing once the cops showed up. He did not speak to a LEO and claimed, "It's Easter and I don't want to deal with this." I will be seeking legal counsel to discussion next steps in this process, as the unlawful towing attempt resulting in my car being scraped. Based on the other reviews, this company has a horrible track record in professionalism, service, and fees associated with their services. Based on my interaction with Driver Thomas in truck #200, I can say that they are WORSE than what the reviews suggest. Our interactions with Wall Street towing services have been much less than pleasant and helpful. We would NOT recommend their services. Unfortunately,our daughter had a roll over accident. Of course the car needed to be towed. As her parents, we were called immediately and got to the scene of the accident as soon as we could. Before we were able to get there, a tow truck had already been called. We are AAA members and our daughter had asked to call AAA. The officer prohibited her from making the call. This forced us to deal with Wall Street towing and left us with a very large bill and much inconvenience. We were there twice cleaning out the car. And then when we were there to turn the title of the car (which was totaled) over to Wall Street we were presented with a bill for $600.00 which needed to be paid for in cash. We were not made aware of their cash only policy. Since we were there at the end of the day we were not able to get $600.00 from the ATM because it exceeded our withdrawal limit for the day. We returned the next morning to close the transaction which was a big inconvenience. In addition, when you open the door to the office, you are overwhelmed with the smell of cigarette smoke. Very offensive. We were not informed of the amount of the bill or the fact that we needed to pay in cash. I am guessing that very few people carry that much cash around and we have not encountered other businesses that have this policy. In fact, we have had several experiences with cashless businesses. The policy of 'cash only' is extremely inconvenient and very outdated. Especially when we were given no choice about who we were doing business with. The manager did not show any interest in providing good customer service. She only stated her right to run her business the way she saw fit. Predatory tow company! "Basic tow" doesn't include labor, "excessive winching" or "hook and drop" fees. That means "basic tow" = $500. In a gravel lot, "out of the right-of-way"? Extra $260! The absolute worst was the "secondary tow" fee of $100. They claimed that they had to tow it from their lot to the office because we didn't have the registration. We told them 5 times that the registration was in the glove compartment. Total cost for 5 mile tow + 3 days storage was $930!! read more

Beware of this illegal scheme fronting as a tow service. They have a monopoly on towing in the AA/Ypsi area and their multiple shell business are Wall Street Towing, Stadium Towing, and budget towing. All three of these faux businesses share the same main lot and main administrative office (operated by a single curt and rude woman). They demand cash for their services which of course can be accessed through their in house ATM that charges an additional $20 fee for withdrawal. They will charge you an $100 "gate-fee" to access your vehicle if only just to grab your registration or insurance which are necessary to release. They will lie about pick-up times in order to charge you additional days of "storage fees" (in my case I was charged an additional $160 fee for a days worth of storage when I had camera evidence of them towing my vehicle on the day of my pickup). The entire process took about 1.5 hours of my time, and a $120 tow fee turned into $400+ due to their illegal and improper fees. These organized criminals have a contract with the county that needs to be ended. Report them to the BBB and to the county commission. read more

I was towed from River Drive Apartments the other night for parking in the guest lot without a parking pass. I was parked 4 spaces to the left of the dumpster where guests are allowed to park for 24 hours. They towed me anyways for "parking without a pass". Guests don't need passes in the guest parking... I was charged $295 dollars for parking where I was supposed to park! I had a test to take that day and didn't do so well without my books that morning. Budget Towing is a HORRIBLE business! They make up fake expenses and charge ridiculous prices. It cost me $500 for them to remove my vehicle from the railroad tracks in Ypsilanti where I had accidentally gotten it stuck. They claimed they had to use "special tools" to remove it (even though it only took a few minutes) and then required me to pay cash to get the car back. In addition, they told me the car was not damaged and could not be driven. They wanted me to have them tow it to a dealership (for another fee!!). I parked in a tow away zone (didn't realize it at the time) and got towed by this company. I would give them 0 stars if I could. The woman on the phone was short tempered and barely helpful. The location was in an incredibly sketchy area, the building was sketchy. No signs or anything to show that this was the place. Minimal lighting. I felt like I was going to get mugged in their parking lot. The woman at the front desk was super rude and acted like I was lying to her about having my registration and insurance Information in my car and not on me (who keeps that on them???) I have an auto club. They cover $75 for a lockout. Budget told them they would need another $45 or the would not come out. Hung up the phone and called budget directly. Asked how much a lockout to my address was and was quoted $65. So if you have roadside assistance they charge $120 but the real rate is half that. I always feel bad for the person who has to rescue their car from this place. My cousin recently had parked in our apartment lot here at Lakeshore while visiting us for a week. Somebody or the tow company themselves towed his car because he didn't have a Lakeshore parking tag. (I don't know what the day limit is, but our second car didn't have a sticker for almost a year and we were never towed). When we went to pick the car up, it was cash only and $282...his car was towed around 5 p.m. and we picked it up after 9 p.m. after thinking it was stolen. When we asked why it was so expensive, the girl at the desk had no idea. I used them once for towing. It wasn't that it was really expensive, it was the person that was working the tow truck. He not only cringed that we were paying credit, but he didn't even give us a receipt, we had to go to the shop to get one and he hadn't even written down our names on the credit form, so it took the employee helping us a bit of time to find what we needed. read more

Like most tow services, they are underhanded and sneaky about the way they deal with people. My car was in a hit and run accident and though I had no-fault insurance, I had no recourse to recover any loss of my TOTALLED vehicle. I was out of work and had just found a job, broke as a joke and BEGGED to get my plates back from them. Even offered to give them my vehicle for scrap and their answer was no because I owed them a towing fee, a hookup fee, and $20/day storage. And if it's "bolted down" to the vehicle you can't have it until the bill is paid in full. The gentleman added that if I didn't hurry up and pay what I owed I would go to collections. I know that people run a business to make money, not not giving me my plates back seems not only heartless, but not entirely legal. Don't get scammed! Police dept. is contracted with them. Every time an accident is dispatched they automatically show up stating you have to used them and not your own towing company of choice. The engine caught on fire and was put out before police or fire dept. showed up. Was told they had to take the car in due to the fire engine. Never was told of the cost of their "special towing equipment" there were no special towing involved! They also charge "storage fee's". So if you don't have $440 to come get your un-drivable car, they will continue to charge $25 a day and you will get bad credit for not paying the ridiculous amount they charge. This place is the most crooked place I have ever encountered and are basically allowed to commit car theft by law. Offers nothing but excuses to their unjust towing instead of taking responsibility for their actions.Not only that but the people that work here have serious character flaws to allow and look past the illegal activities this establishment participates in. My girlfriend parked at the apartment complex I live at to visit for a while in river drive apartments in a marked guest area. It is there for those that are stay past the time you are allowed to park anywhere else. (10:30 pm- 6am or something like that. That night she went to leave and found her vehicle was missing and thought it was stolen. Found out later that the Budget Towing took her car from the guestlot mistakenly because they seen another vehicle, my neighbors as well as friends vehicle, that looks the exact same parked without a permit in another area other than the guest lot earlier in the day. I gave them the benefit of the doubt considering maybe they thought she had moved the vehicle and then came back later after identifying it. But after I asked them if they might have taken the wrong car and they refused to identify any evidence that her car was anywhere else other than the guestlot, They told me all the evidence they had was a map with a marking that showed where they think she parked. They then refused to entertain the idea that maybe their tow truck drivers made a mistake and took the wrong vehicle, and was also extremely rude when speaking to me over the phone and in person. After I got nowhere I turned to the police department to file a stolen vehicle police report and was met with confusion. The police department basically told me that when a tow driver takes a car no matter what it is not stealing it is impounding. I tried to explain the difference that my girlfriend was not parked in a lot requiring a permit therefore no impound was required and that she was unjustly towed therefore the equivilant of theft. Needless to say that went nowhere and we ended up paying the rediculious $360.00 to get it back from them. For anyone dealing with this i suggest to not bother contacting them at all, they are not interested in working with anyone they are just interested in stealing you car, money, or both. So just go sheaf and duke acomplaint with their certifying and ir licencing officials, file apolice report, record everything they say to you if you do contact them, and file for ahearing to retrieve your money back if you were unjustly towed by these people. read more
