On September 6 we visited this restaurant and immediately fell in love with it. The décor is fabulous--an impeccably executed homage to the 1930s--and the service is excellent. Drinks are delicious, the appetizers are varied and beautifully prepared, and every dish we tried was flavorful with generous portions. The Umami Butter Escargot was so extraordinary I could have ordered it repeatedly and made it my entire dinner; truly out‑of‑this‑world good. For the main course, the Seco de Res--short rib served over a wonderful harina de maíz--was pure excellence on a plate. Prices are in line with other high‑quality restaurants in Miami. We can't wait to return. read more

We visited after watching Chef Eileen Andrade on Guga's video and were excited to try the food. Seeing her prepare dishes from scratch, with some appearing to have no cheese added, gave me the impression that a cheese-free modification would be possible. The evening started well with great drinks and dumplings. When ordering, I explained my cheese allergy and requested risotto without cheese, confirming that cream was okay when asked. After taking our orders, our server returned to say the chef wouldn't accommodate the request because it would change the texture. I repeatedly explained that I understood the texture would be different and was completely fine with that. Given what I'd seen in the video, I found this refusal especially hard to understand. I asked several times for reconsideration and insisted on speaking with the chef directly. Despite our server going back to him more than once, the answer remained no, and he never spoke with us--even when passing our table. When I requested the general manager, I learned she was also our server. I was shocked that she couldn't resolve the issue or clarify whether refusing modifications was the owner's policy. My parents and I canceled our entrées and left very disappointed. What bothered me most was having to insist repeatedly without getting a direct conversation or an explanation beyond texture. We arrived excited and left feeling unheard. read more

I want to start by saying this is the cutest speakeasy type of bar/restaurant. At the beginning, I got confused because the outside said it was a laundromat, but it's actually the restaurant, they did mention that many people confuse it for an actual laundromat. When you step inside you're greeted by a soft, ambient lighting, and great decor. For food and drinks we ordered off the happy hour menu and sat at the bar. The bartender was very nice and offered to help us choose the best drink based on our preferences. The drinks were refreshing. We ordered the short rib croquetas which were delicious. The chicken nuggets and caviar were a fun order, but I think you could skip on this because they seem like regular frozen chicken nuggets, it was still OK. I would definitely order the Korean barbecue skewers, which were my favorite. The tiramisu was huge but a little too sweet. I think this is a great spot for happy hour and would have to come back to try the main conditions. read more

Great experience we had for Wednesday Paella's night. The atmosphere was on point and the music was very enjoyable and worth going there just for that. But to top it off the the Sangrias were very refreshing and the paellas delicious. For appetizers we ordered the croquetas that were amazing, but the best of the night was the pork belly. One of the best! My son ordered a pasta dish which was great too. And for the dessert we ordered a timba. We was very enjoyable. I came here years ago when they opened, but it was so little. I was amazed by how nice it looks now. Definitely a big plus to the neighborhood in restaurants. read more

Amelia's was definitely not a bit for us only because our food took over an hour to arrive. We had reservations, got sat down quickly but the service truly wasn't it. I absolutely loved the speakeasy vibe and the vibe/flamenco night they had BUT the food taking over an hour just wasn't it for us. The food was good, only thing that was OVER the top was the croquetas and the gnocchi. read more

This was our first time back to Amelia's since they renovated and made it bigger. We had a fantastic experience! At first we were a little confused when we walked up and the windows all said dry cleaning and laundromat etc lol ... im true "speak easy" fashion, you open the door and at first you think you're walking into a laundry service, but then quickly realize you're in the right place. From beginning to end, the experience was excellent. The attention, the professionalism, the ambience, the decor, the food, the drinks, and the overall vibe were all outstanding! Our server Sebastian was incredibly knowledgeable about everything on the menu, and he was very attentive, and very professional. For appetizers, the wife and I had the pork belly and the French onion soup. The pork belly was delicious and the French onion soup was very good (but our favorite is still the one at Foxs) ... For entrée, I had the Seco de Res Braised Short Rib / Tamal en Cazuela Risotto / Salsa Criolla ... I LOVED IT! I asked for a side of Maduros, because I've always incorporated them into tamal en cazuela (old habit). The wife had the fish of the day which was similar to Branzino, which came with brussels sprouts and potatoes. Unfortunately we did not have room for dessert, but the offerings on their dessert menu sounded amazing as well . We plan on coming back on another occasion to try their Sunday brunch. We truly loved the culinary experience last night, and I highly recommend!! read more

Honestly, we had such a great experience at Amelia's! From the service, to the food and ambience everything was just perfect. Food - let's just start by saying that this is probably one of the best oxtails I've had. The meat literally fell off the bone. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. Paired with tamal en cazuela which was also super delicious. If you come here, you need to try this dish out. Service - both our bartender Kevin and server MJ were awesome. Great food recommendations and will make cocktails based on your palate. Ambience - the restaurant definitely takes you back to the 1930s. Decorated with antiques and old school furniture. Truly loved the dedication to the theme. We came on Thursday for jazz night, which was spectacular. Nothing better than having live music while dining. Such an awesome experience, will definitely be back. read more

I came to Amelia's before its facelift and now again after. The vibe is immaculate. It's got the quaint speakeasy vibe. I literally went to the wrong door because my husband thought I was about to walk into an actual laundromat. The restaurant is dimly lit and has an adorable 1920s vibe. The staff is extremely friendly! Everyone from the host the servers to the bartenders. The drinks were great and they were served beautifully. For food, we ordered the short rib croquetas which were really delicious! My husband got the airline chicken. It was good, but he felt it lacked more flavor. The oxtail, on the other hand, had a great flavor! I ordered the short rib ravioli. I don't know if it's normally like this or if there was a little slip in the kitchen but it was EXTREMELY salty. I'm usually one to add plenty of salt to dishes but this tasted like the cap of the salt shaker fell out while seasoning. Overall, I like this spot for a cute date night. The drinks are really fabulous as well as the vibe and the food is really good. read more

Cute little "speakeasy" in a corner of a place on coral way. Not at all what you'd expect but such an adorable find. Outside windows are lined with vintage cleaning signs and the door in is set up like then entrance of just that. Not so much speakeasy but themed. Lots of space in the inside but we sat at the bar. Drinks were okay and I don't know what I expected from the word 'clarified' apple on my drink, but DO NOT eat it, it is not for consumption lol just went for drinks but will be going back to try food. read more

How am I finding out about this place just now? A friend suggested dinner here, saying it was a fusion of Cuban, Peruvian and Asian... sister restaurant to Islas Canarias and Finka... say no more. I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival... what a unique restaurant from the moment you walk in. Service was great throughout. We decided to try the Short Rib Croquetas, Pork and Mushroom Ravioli and the Lomo Saltado Risotto. Everything was the delicious, but my least favorite was the ravioli. The ambience and mood on this place calls for date night so I'll definitely return. read more

Amelia's 1931 - Pork and Mushroom Ravioli - Cuban Near Me - Miami, Florida

Good was amazing. It's a Cuban Peruvian fusion with a Korean twist and it HITS. The flavors are amazing all around. The food comes out as it's made and it's hot so not all plates may come out at once. The cocktails were also really good. You may think it's a small glass but our drinks were pretty strong. Service was great. We sat down before our reservation time and it was pretty full. The waitress was very kind and explained the restaurant as this was our first time there. Ambiance is so cute. I love how everything is decorated like if you were at a dry cleaners in the 1930s. Super cute, definitely somewhere to get more dressy it's not super casual. The music is a good noise level nothing too crazy. Only thing....literally only complaint from my whole table was that it was hot in there. It didn't feel hot initially coming in but once we sat down it just got hotter. I had to put my hair up when we started eating. Still enjoyed it enough to give it five stars the heat didn't really ruin our experience. IT WAS GREAT. read more

You wouldn't ever think this restaurant was behind the facade you see from the outside. Once past the "dry cleaners" you're in for a treat. Wonderful service, great food and drinks and a great place to catch up with old friend and in our case listen to live music. I had the airline chicken after it was recommended by my friend and I have to say it was awesome and the side dishes it came with exploded with flavor. read more

This adorable speakeasy is right smack in the middle of a shopping center where you would never expect it! When you walk in you immediately feel like you're in Brickell or Miami Beach but luckily you didn't have to pay for the parking or the crazy drink prices. They have a great happy hour from 4:00 to 7:00 and then they have a late night happy hour that starts at 11:00 p.m. The mussels are outstanding as is their hummus and the filet mignon skewers. But what really shines in this place for me are the drinks! The bartenders are phenomenal and Kevin in particular has made an old fashioned that knocked our socks off! On Wednesday nights they have a flamenco show. It was more Flamenco Cuban Fusion Style music and it was so much fun! Everybody was clapping along and singing along and you had those Saturday night vibes on a Wednesday! I highly recommend this place. The food, drinks, the bartenders, and the service is impeccable. read more

Perfect spot for date night! Restaurant is dimly lit and they have live music as well. It creates the perfect intimate atmosphere. The manager Jasmin was so friendly and welcoming and the service was overall a big plus. The food: Portions are a bit on the smaller side BUT every bite was a 10/10. The hen of the woods is a vegan dish of perfectly seasoned mushrooms that mimics the texture of chicken. The star of the show was the seco de res. The short rib was so tender and packed with flavor. We finished off with the tiramisu, as expected it had a very strong coffee flavor which I liked. You can tell it is made in house. Overall 10/10 experience. Would definitely come back. read more

This spot is a hidden gem. It's located in the shopping center where Islas Canarias is in Tamiami. It's next to a dry cleaners, which tripped me out because the door to the entrance seemed like it was connected to the dry cleaners. When in reality it was like a speakeasy vibe when you entered. I loved the concept. The inside is very upscale and we had a seat at the bar. The service was great, both bartenders assisted us while we were there. To start off I ordered an espresso martini, it was very good. Then we enjoyed these cute little shots of rum, I can't remember what they were called and I honestly forgot to take a pic but they were sweet and delicious. To eat we enjoyed the octopus that is charred, this was quite good. The frita was the fanciest frita I've ever had, it supposed to come with maduros but I opted out because I didn't want the sweetness. It came lathered in a cilantro sauce and melted gruyere cheese on the top of the patty. The brioche bun really took me off the edge, it was amazing. Then the fries were soo crispy, honestly perfect. I'll definitely be coming back here, I had such a nice time. They also have a late night happy hour on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 pm to 1 am. Can't wait to come back and try other delicious cocktails and bites! read more

Went to Amelia's 1931 with wife, daughter and boyfriend for dinner Saturday night. Not a easy group to pick a spot that works. So upon entering the "Laundromat" ,I knew we made the right choice. Low lights, inviting, cool band and comfy booths. Great cocktails, short rib croquetas (had to order a 2nd round) This family of Restaurateurs has croquetas in their DNA. Sebastian made us feel welcomed as well as Sebastian the busboy/runner, Good Guys. Onion Soup, Airline Chicken and other well seasoned plates made us happy. Kitchen has staff who know how to cook. No rush, no hassle just a relaxed vibe. Topped off evening with our Birthday cake which they graciously served. Great evening. Will see you again. Thank you Love the secret silverware drawer in the booths. Good idea. read more

Wish the espresso martini was on happy hour menu bc it's their best drink. Silk stalking is still #2. Tried the caprese which was insane - seriously tastes like your drinking a caprese salad which may sound gross but it's not. Good to try at least once. The drink with apples was ok, manly tastes like champagne. Didn't like their mezcal drink, too strong of an alcohol bitter flavor. Their frita burger and fries are very good. Small portion. Oh fyi it's always freezing in there. read more

Amelia 1931 is one of those restaurants that instantly sets itself apart. You first step into what looks like an old dry cleaner, and then pass through into a hidden dining room--a clever speakeasy-style entrance that transports you straight into a 1930s-inspired setting. The ambiance is intimate, stylish, and perfect for a night out. The highlight for me was the bar. The bartenders are true professionals, mixing cocktails that were balanced, creative, and expertly crafted. Every drink felt like an experience, and it's clear they take pride in their craft. The food was well-executed, with thoughtful flavors and presentation, though the pacing between courses could have been tighter. Service was attentive and professional, which kept the night moving comfortably. I'd definitely come back for a date night--apps and drinks at the bar here are more than enough to make the evening memorable. read more

Visited Amelia's for the first time for their late night happy hour. They had a lively band playing flamenco music. When you walk in you're immediately greeted by the host, the restaurant is dimly lit and gives a speakeasy vibe. We decided to sit in the back where they had a layout of antique sofas, where we enjoyed some cocktails and music. I had the Mezcal you later which was delicious and my fiancee ordered a Kentucky mule. I definitely see myself coming back here again. I would suggest to not come too casually dressed since most people are in nice outfits. read more

Went here for my birthday and honestly we were pretty happy with the overall of the restaurant. We got a couple of the cocktails. They were: Cereal Killer: 4 out of 5. This was advertised by the server that it's a dessert drink since "it is very sweet". Unfortunately, this drink wasn't THAT sweet as we thought and honestly not a dessert drink unless it was made wrong? Original Sin: 5 out of 5. This was honestly my favorite drink. The green apple was there and it wasn't too sweet but it was delicious! Paper Plane: 3 out of 5. It was ok. Appetizer: Croquestas: 5 out of 5 Tuna Tataki: 5 out of 5 Seafood ceviche: 5 out of 5 Entrees: Filet Mignon: 4 out of 5 the risotto did not blow me away just like the one from the Lomo saltado. Lomo Saltado: 5 out of 5 delicious entree! The meat the risotto was honestly amazing. Pork Cuban Katsu: 3 out of 5 but the pork on here was dry. Our server said the food is brought as a family style. My party was thinking we were getting extra plates but for the most of the time we were eating I had no plates to make sure I didn't make any mess. This ruined our dining experience. read more

Just wow! Went for my best friend's birthday this past June and had never heard of this place. My friend send me a reel from Instagram. It looked pretty cool so was looking forward to checking it out. The minute you walk in you can't help but admire all the decor. Gorgeous! We were a large party but the service was great! Our waitress was very attentive regardless of the size of our group. The live flamenco performance was phenomenal! It really put the entire experience on another level! It is a perfect place for whatever celebration you're having. Once you step thru those doors, it's like you were transported to another era, another place far far away! So cool. And don't get me started on the FOOD- oh my‼ The flavors. The presentation. Every single bite was perfection! I was so impressed. From beginning to end it was such an amazing experience. We started with the croquetas and French Onion soup because we are croqueta lovers and everywhere we go we must try them- delicious! Did not disappoint in the least bit even if right across from this restaurant they serve our favorite croquetas of all time- (Isla Canaria)....lol The French onion soup hands down the best I have ever tried. The flavors, the meat used, the broth. The combination was out of this world! Moving on to the "main course"- I ordered the Amelia's Frita and again one of the best fritas I have ever tried. Que delicia! A party in my mouth with every single bite. One of my daughters ordered the Lomo Slatado- she loved it!!!! The meat was tender and the risotto was a match made in heaven! It complimented it perfectly. My other daughter is a "steak person" so she had to try the Steak Frites and said the steak was juicy, tender and just melt in your mouth goodness. Oh and the fries- YUM! So crispy and sooooo good! Now the best part of every meal- DESSERT! I was tempted to order everything on the menu because if our meals were phenomenal I could only imagine what the desserts would taste like but we narrowed it down to the coconut cheesecake and Timba. My gosh. The Timba was like nothing I have ever tasted before. I died and went to Timba heaven for real! Wow. This is hands down one of the best Cuban desserts I have ever tried. Not saying the coconut cheesecake wasn't good. It was fantastic too pero the Timba stole the show for me!! This place is by far one of the best restaurants I have been to in awhile. I cannot wait to go back and explore the menu some more! Oh forgot to mention since I don't drink alcohol- that one of my girls ordered an espresso martini and said it was better than the one she makes at home and believe me our family raves about it. So I know for a fact she was impressed and fully enjoyed every sip! read more

For drinks we ordered a Miami wheat and the paper plane. Even though it's on the pricier side, I would have it again because it was delicious. If I could give this place 10 stars I would...it exceeded every expectation and is truly a gem in the unlikeliest of places: Kendall. Coming in, we were confused by the entrance...it looks like a dry cleaner but in wonderful speakeasy style you move past a curtain of dry cleaning garments and into a vintage style bar, with dim lighting, jazz playing and a decor that is simultaneous cozy and elegant. It's classy without being pretentious. But the FOOD. Wow. That was the word used over and over with each new bite, and everything--I mean, everything--was absolutely delicious. We had: Tuna Aguachile for appetizer: refreshing and delicious. The watermelon gave it an extra special touch of sweetness. Special of the day: fried snapper with Brussels sprouts. The little nuggets of fish were well presented, plated into a fried snapper. They did all the work for you so all you have to do is enjoy. The Brussels Sprouts (a generous portion) was amazing in a sweet soy glaze. I didn't think I would like this vegetable that much! The Boniato Gnocchi was delightful. I was concerned it would be too cheesy but this was the BEST gnocchi I've had. It came in a Rococo sauce that was never overpowering topped with a Parm crisp. It had the perfect Bliss Point--It left me wanting more, and I never say that about gnocchi. Cocktails: Penicillin: I was looking for something that wasn't too sweet and this was very refreshing. Dessert: Timba, a cream cheese mousse topped with guava and Maria cookies. Initially disappointed that it was served on a regular plate instead of the martini glass it usually comes in but it tastes lovely--not too sweet, and the cream cheese flavor was subtly sweet and not too strong. Very good and a reminiscent of the classic guava and cheese after dinner. Looking forward to coming back soon! read more
